Busy lives and tight schedules have made it difficult to care for elders but the NGOs working toward this cause have made it possible for them to feel worthy of what they are and live the rest of their lives with dignity.

Senior Citizen Homes – A Blessing in Disguise
The trembling hands moving towards the glass of water lying a little far away from hands reach.
With a little extra effort the hands reach the glass, but the lack of strength males at fall on the
ground and there they are, lying helplessly on the broken bed. This is just a small excerpt from the
scenario of many problems which the elderly are facing on a day to day basis where they have just
been abandoned by their immediate family. Elder health care is a major concern for a country like
ours where development is at an all-time high and the actual pillars of strength, the elderly, have
been forgotten.
Be it a lower or a middle class family, the schedules have made it impossible to care for old
people. More often than not, they are abandoned, even if not on purpose, the routines make them
feel that way. Long excruciating hours of wait to see their children come back home and talk to
them are often full of loneliness and lead to mental issues such as depression over time, and not to
forget, there are other physical ailments that add to their misery owing to their age.
Little can be done to change this because of numerous limitations for a family in terms of money,
time or anything else. But, the oncoming of NGOs has made it possible for them to live a happy
life. With senior citizen homes are opening up and a number of people volunteering to help, many
elders have been rescued from what would have been devastating to their lives' final years. The
facilities built for elders cater to all their needs, physical as well as emotional. The atmosphere
makes them feel at home with like-minded people of similar ages.

The youth is playing a major part in this and a lot of young people are coming up to volunteer and
spend time with the elders. The option to sponsor grandparents has made it possible for people to
help them financially and because there is no tax exemption in donations, all the money donated
goes to fulfilling a good cause.
