most effectively when that choice begins with the Task at hand, and then considers the Environment in
which that task must be performed, the Skill set of the individual (the tool chooser), and the Tools which
are available (Thus the acronyn TEST)."

4. Student Profile
Luis from Dominican Republic
Spanish is his first language. English is his second language. He is an emergent
reader and writer due to gaps in education, diagnosed with learning disability
in reading, writing and math. Executive functioning and working memory
disorders.
Luis wants to be a mechanic when he grows up. He loves riding his mountain
bike and playing soccer. He is shy and very self conscious of his learning
difficulties.
5. Task
What is the task at hand?
Luis is going into grade 10. He will need tools to help him with his academic
and elective classes. He will need tools that are versatile and can be used into
post secondary education and on a jobsite.
6. Environment
Where will the task take place?
He has access to a learning support room and he is comfortable asking
permission to use it.
7. Skills
What skills do I have? Do I have the skills needed to do the task safely and
efficiently?
Luis has a good self awareness and several key adults with whom he is
comfortable approaching when he needs help. Typically he checks in with an
adult and then is fairly independent in his work
8. Tools
What tools do I have? What tools do I need?
Luis has a laptop computer and an Iphone. He is open to trying new things to
support his learning.
