IBM builds United Bank of Commerce & Industry’s network infrastructure in
Tunisia
Union Bank of Commerce & Industry (UBCI),
one of the first banks in Tunisia has selected
IBM to design, build, and implement its state-
of-the-art network Infrastructure.
UBCI is a subsidiary of BNP PARIBAS, one of
the strongest financial groups in the world
operating in 81 countries focusing on Retail
Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking,
and Investment Solutions.
Client Challenge
As a subsidiary of BNP Paribas, UBCI required
to meet international standards. The bank
decided to implement a new LAN network
infrastructure as the current one was lacking
modularity, security, scalability, high availability and quality of service necessary to
comprehensively support the IP Telephony infrastructure.
Why IBM?
Being the first Tunisian integrators for UBCI and the only Cisco Gold partner in
Tunisia made IBM the logical choice as it reflected IBM’s deep knowledge about the
business and customer environment.
UBCI selection criteria for IBM was based on IBM’s extensive, successful experience
in migrating cabling infrastructures in the banking sector as well as The strategic
alliance and teamwork between IBM and Cisco.
Also IBM team demonstrated outstanding IBM value through their technical
capabilities that were exhibited in both the design phase and in the implementation
of a previous project (IP Telephony).
Client Solution & Value
IBM provided the network infrastructure required to comply with BNP Paribas
standard architecture. The Infrastructure functionality is based on 1 x Cisco 4506-E,
6 x Cisco 4948, and 6A/500Mhz/10Gigabit Ethernet category Cabling solution for 700
points (Headquarter + Datacenter)
With implementing the new network Infrastructure, UBCI will succeed to
