4. Family life/ Marriage/ Children
Nixon was born on his father's lemon farm in Yarborn Linda CA. out of the
four kids his parents had together two of them died. After the farm had
failed they moved to Whittier, California, where Nixon's father ran a
grocery store. Nixon had a troubled childhood, being raised by sometimes
an abusive father and a controlling mother some people were led to
believe he took on some of those traits. Nixon had a drive to succeed and
felt he had to pretend to be "good" while using any tactics necessary to
achieve his goals. Later in life, Richard Nixon got married to Pat Nixon in
1940, the Nixon's had two children Patricia and Julie who were both grown
when Nixon became president. Julie married David Eisenhower, one of
Dwight Eisenhower's grandsons, in 1968, and Tricia married Edward Cox in
the Rose Garden of the White House in 1971.

Richard attended East Whittier Elementary School, where he was
president of his eighth-grade class. At the start of his junior year in
September 1928, Richard's parents permitted him to transfer to Whittier
High School. At Whittier, Nixon suffered his first election defeat when he
lost his bid for student body president. He then attended Whittier College,
Nixon attended as a student and a debater. He was president of his
freshman class and a senior president of the student body. Graduating
second in his class in 1934, he then won a scholarship to Duke University
Law School.

1961, having risen to national prominence as a representative and
senator from California.

1946-Nixon defeated the five term incumbent representative to become
a representative in the California congress.
1950 election- Nixon was elected to become a US senator for California.
From 1953-1961-Nixon was vice president for President Dwight D.
Eisenhower
In the election of 1960- Nixon ran for president and was defeated by
John F. Kennedy
