Legacy

  2. 2. How can we give thanks to God for this national father? How do we live in his legacy?
  3. 3. 1. We honour his Christ-like humility and compassion.
  4. 4. 2. He thought about future generations
  5. 5. 3. His great commitment to social justice and racial harmony.
  6. 6. Proverbs 28:16 (NLT) 16 A ruler with no understanding will oppress his people, but one who hates corruption will have a long life.
  7. 7. 4. Legacy of concern for the poor
  8. 8. 5. He brought peace but he is not the Prince of Peace.
  9. 9. 6. Keep your joy!
  10. 10. 7. Yet, we honour him for his exemplary response to suffering.
  11. 11. 8. Forgiveness and freedom from bitterness
  12. 12. Hebrews 12:15 (NLT) 15 Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Ephesians 4:31 (NLT) 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behaviour.
  13. 13. 9. Pray for & speak honourably of those in authority
  14. 14. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NLT) 1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

  16. 16. Psalm 119:96 (NLT) 96 Even perfection has its limits, but your commands have no limit.
