A thriller is a genre that keeps the audience engaged through suspense, unexpected events, and tension. It does not allow the audience to lose focus due to the uncertain outcome. Christian Bale and Bruce Willis are famous actors known for starring in thrilling films like Batman that feature cliffhangers and danger. Alfred Hitchcock directed classic thrillers like Vertigo and Psycho that used music and camera techniques to build tension. Thrillers can be psychological, action-packed, crime-focused, or political in nature, employing various cinematic techniques to maintain suspense.

Definition: A thriller is a type of genre in which uses many different
aspects to keep you on the edge of your seat whether it’s reading a
book or watching a film. These aspects consist of suspension,
unexpected elements or even tension within a story line. A thriller is
a type on genre where you cannot lose focus on what is happening,
simply because of how uncertain the outcome could be.
2. Actors associated with thrillers
Christian Bale is one very famous actor whom specializes in
the movie genre “thriller”. His most successful release
“Batman” is a nerve racking film with countless cliff hangers to
make it even more entertaining to watch, putting his life on
the line increases the suspension within his movies.
Bruce Willis is also a very action packed thriller expert, rather
than playing the good guy or bad guy in his movies, he is
normally highlighted as the “Hit man”. This type of character
again puts his like on the line to make the film more thrilling.
Bruce Willis has the ability to create tension in every scene.

The film “Vertigo” is a classic thriller made by the
famous director Alfred Hitchcock, the name of the film
and picture shows exactly what it consists of and
shows the audience what it will produce, in this case a
cliff hanging, psychological thriller.
“Psycho” is another classic thriller directed again with
Alfred Hitchcock. In this case music is used a lot to
create tension between the psycho and the victim, as
the music increases so just the sense of unease which
makes it even more thrilling.

Psychological thriller – “Shutter Island” is a
psychological thriller where by it twists with the
story line and characters are no longer reliant on
what they think or do, this effect makes the story
line more confusing but more thrilling at the
same time.
Action packed thriller – “Batman” is an action
packed thriller simply because there is danger
around every corner in the movie. Action films
are made to have you on the edge of your seat
through out the films cause of it’s high tech
editing and tension building scenes.

Crime thriller – Hawaii Five – 0 is known for it’s
gripping, tense crime – solving investigations where
music and fast camera shots are recorded for a more
thrilling experience. Hawaii Five – 0 is like a never
ending story, there will always be a shock at the end
of every episode to keep the suspension uprising.
Political thriller – Vantage Point has a different
approach with a gripping story line to keep us on the
edge of our seats through out. As it get’s further in
to the movie, everything starts to unravel itself as to
whom killed the president, already this shows how
thrilling it is if a political leader is shot dead, slow to
fast camera angles and shots are used for effect.
