3. Firstly, I believed in order to make the page
look interesting/eye catching a bold image
would be needed. However, there is not a
signal image that I believed would be string
enough, or could be easily associated with
the documentary. Therefore I have chosen to
use a montage of faces on the left side of the
page as It looks strong and also as it directly
links in with the opening of the documentary.
I believe that the uniformed boxes that have
been use show how that individuals don’t
have to conform to how we as a society perceive them to be. Also, by using more
than one person we can show the diversity of the individuals we spoke to and how
anyone can be a homosexual and unfortunately anyone can have negative attitudes
towards homosexuality.
4. The title of the documentary is “Homophobic
Britain?” I believed it was important to use
the title again here in order to create
consistency throughout and also for the
individuals reading the magazine would
easily be able to associate this article with
the documentary. Also I have the title
covering the top third of the page so it will
stand out to the reader.
I believe that the title should be written in red, white and blue alternatively in
order to use colour to emphasise the place in which the documentary took
place. Also, as colour is a very popular feature in magazines and draws the
readers attention to the article if it looks astheticaly pleasing.
5. I used a tag line underneath to highlight
further what the article is about once
again to try and entice the reader to
continue to read the article.
This would be written in italic font. I
would also have it written in either red
or blue so that it did not look the same
as the main body of text.
6. 4) I have used a pull quote to highlight
an important phrase from the article. By
doing this I have attempted to catch the
readers eye with something
controversial which will hopefully
persuade the reader to continue to read
the article.
5) I have formatted my text into 3 columns as
this is a code and a convention set out in
most magazines. Therefore in order to be in
keeping with the style I have formatted my
body of text in this way.
7. I have decided to use a logo in my magazine that will be consistent throughout. This a
convention in a few of the magazines that have analysed. I think it adds continuity
throughout the magazine and also it reminds the reader in which magazine they read
it. Finally, if they are reading it on public transport like the bus or tube, individuals that
may look over will know which article the magazine was in.
8. Byline/ picture byline would be situated
at the bottom which would show the
writer of the articles name and the
photographers name.
