Significance of ANZAC Day
1. What is the Significance of
ANZAC Day 100 Years on?
By Emma Young and Eliza Day
2. Why ANZAC Day is Important?
Anzac Day is important because it celebrates the
time Australian and New Zealand forces united
and fought together in WW1. The Gallipoli
campaign left us a powerful legacy, known as
the โAnzac legendโ. The Anzac legend is an
important part that has shaped our past and our
future. It is also an important part of the identity
of both nations. On Anzac Day we remember
the sacrifice of those who die or have died
during any military operation.
3. How Australians Have Taken it Too Far
Over the years, ANZAC Day has become very
exaggerated. People often associate that
football players โgo into battleโ in the ANZAC
Day match. People commercialize ANZAC Day to
get people to join the army and become strong
like the ANZACโs. Over commercializing ANZAC
Day is disrespectful and relating a football match
to war is wrong because they have nothing to do
with each other.
