4. LET’S START!
In a 100 mL becher dissolve 1 gr of recrystallized lophine
in 50 ml of 95% ethanol, heating it if it is necessary.
Let it cool until to room temperature.
At the same time melt 1 gr of NaOH in a 100 mL becher in a mixture of water/ethanol
obtained mixing 15 mL of water with 5 mL of ethanol.
In a dark room, mix 10 mL ethanolic solution of lophine in a 250 ml becher with
20 mL of NaOH solution. Add 2,5 mL 3 % H202 and mix it.
When your eyes get used to the dark, add 25 mL of bleach (about 3 % NaCl0) to the
mixture.
The emission of light can be sometimes revived adding 10 mL of NaClO.
