COVID-19 infection population grows rapidly and overwhelms the healthcare system
• Slow manual diagnosis cannot cope
with the rapid increase of patients
• Patients gathering causes cross-
infection
• Increased workload for radiologists
• Work fatigue and working overtime
leads to high misdiagnosis
• Multiple times of CT scan are
performed during the treatment
• Quantitative analysis is important for
forecast disease progression
Rapid increase of patients Huge Pressure on doctors Less indicator for follow-up

According to the analysis of the diagnosis process, AI-assisted medical imaging are mainly used in the screening phase. A patient's CT image consists of about 150 to 200 images. Doctors need to view the image of the patient one by one. Especially in the early stage of the coronavirus outbreak, doctors who are unfamiliar with the disease need to spend about 1 hour to check the images of a patient. Even a skilled doctor needs more than ten minutes. However, with AI-assisted screening, the lesions in each image can be marked with the size and proportion of the lesions. Doctors can just browse the image to perform qualitative analysis.
