2. GENERAL RULES
1. Utensil should be thoroughly washed before
use and again washed immidietly after used
2. Hcl, HNO3 , or Potasium Bichromate may be
beneficial to remove dirt and other stains from
glass vessels.
3. Ordinary cleaning can be done with soda and
hot water.
4.To remove greasy or oily materials, methyleted
spirit , ether, benzene can be used
5. Vessels made up of metals never washed with
acids.
3. PARTICULAR RULE
1. Mortar and Pestles-
If made up Glass-
Firstly the glass morter and pestales washed with hot
water
Then rub with hard brush and cold water
Then use soft brush
Washed under tap water
De=ried at high temp
The poured small quantity of alcohal inside mortar and
burn inside, precaution should be taken for handle of
pastles made up wood
4. If made up of Porcelain-
First wash with cold water
Then scraped with brush
Cleaned with boiling water
Then rubed with fine sand and rinsed with purified
water.
Then throughly dried up at high temp.
5. If made up Iron or steel-
Firstly washed with running tap water
Then scraped with hard brush and cleaned with
boiling water
Again rubed with soft brush and washed with
purified water
Dried with clean clothes and alcohol to prevent
rusting
6. SPATULA
Horn made spatulas are used in
pharmaceuticals-
First cleaned with a soft cloth
Then washed with running tap water or kept for
hours in immersed water
Finaly alcohal is used to wash it carefully
Then it is wiped dry with clean cloaths
It (horn made) never washed with hot water or
boiled in water
7. BOTTLES
The bottles are kept in cold water for 6-7 hr
Brushing with hard brush, by shaking and
brushing remove stains and dirt
The wash with moderate warm water and rubb
with soft brush
Then washed with purified water.
Then some amount of alcohol poured in bottle
and wash them proeprly
The expose the bottle to sun for drying purpose
8. CORCKS
Corks first rubbed in running tap water then
with purified water
Then kept to dry and after drying again rinsed
with dilute alcohal
Then dry thoroughly at moderate temp under sun
ray
9. WOODEN INSTRUMENT
Washed under running tap water and rubbed
thoroughly with hard brush
Then washed with warm water and soft brush
Lastly used purified water for wash
It is kept under sun light
