REASONS FOR SELECTING MY MOOC
Maintaining healthy bodies is very important in the world of today.
Nowadays when somebody fall sick people panic a lot and start thinking the world
is coming to an end
This MOOC is related to my education field.
As a mathematics and physical educator and also a very caring person about the
health of the people in my community, it is very crucial to have an understanding
of health and disease, its management and prevention.
During my school experience I had one learners who just collapsed while we were
doing physical exercises in the field and I got scared and did not know what to do.
Only if we could understand various diseases in our societies, it could be easier to
know what to do when such occurs.
In our respective classrooms we come across learners from diverse background
with different diseases that needs us to cater for them properly.
If the teacher is aware of these diseases it becomes very easy to cater for all
learners in the classroom and create lessons that accommodates everyone.

Introduction to my community
Donald Mokadi is a 3rd year student at the University of Johannesburg completing his
education degree majoring in Mathematics and physical education. I am an ambitious
person who chose to become a teacher because I enjoy working around people and
helping others become better individuals in future. I enjoy working with children a lot
and believe that I will make a huge difference in the country's education. I am originally
coming from Limpopo where I completed my grade 12 in 2011 and now in
Johannesburg to further my studies. I am currently working as a math coach at a
program called Numeric where we teach grade 7 learners mathematics with the aim
of ensuring that learners are well equipped with the basic skills of mathematics. One
thing I have realised during practise is that health issues affects education in many
ways and should be taken into consideration into the school environment. Teachers
should be aware of the diseases that learners have and have all the necessary
facilities to help those learners. This should also take place in our respective societies.
We should care about the health of our learners as much as we care about their
education.
