3. GENRE AND
AUDIENCE
The genre for my film is drama, it will have elements of
comedy and suspense throughout but ultimately it will be
non-action, which is key to making the film different.
The audience is primarily young adults, from 15 – 40. I chose
this because it could interest students, as well as adults. It
could be a good teaching tool, for media students who are
creating a film.
4. STORYLINE
The film would be about 3 young film addicts who get
together to create a low budget film.
The first scene would be situated in a low lit bedroom of one
of the editors, typing out a script. The location of this is
currently undecided.
Because the characters are young adults, they will be given
modern names. The first character that we see will be called
Tom Johnson. This name is very generic but it’s modern in a
day where film directors are getting older e.g. Steven
Spielburg.
5. TEXTUAL ANALYSIS
Camera – Professional, not handheld, taking in every detail
within a room.
Sound – As per usual, there would be non-diegetic sound as
well as diegetic to add the suspense.
Editing – The editing would be kept to a minimal to keep the
film realistic.
6. INSTITUTION
The institution making this film would be Global Studio
Productions, my own brand.
The movie would be made by ourselves, on a few small
budget.
7. MAIN CHARACTERS
Tom Johnson – 19 year old student, director of their new
movie. Arrogant yet charming.
George Young – Also 19 year old, timid but enthusiastic.
Richard Bridgestone – 20 year old student, full of ideas yet
can’t produce the work to match the ideas.
All university students, studying Media at Brighton
University.
