It is a city where people coexist with nature and
modernity harmonizes with tradition.
The city is also the social, economic and cultural
center of the country, which means that Seoul is
also the heart of Korea’s national design.
Approximately 73% of Korean designers are
concentrated in Seoul.

15. HOUSING
As the number of houses ran short, the construction of a fixed number of units of housing was allotted to each region
including Seoul.
Government promised to build 2 million homes, for which housing co orperations were established in each of these
cities including Seoul.
The SHCC( Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation) was founded .Their scope of business includes urban planning,
including land acquisition, housing construction, housing welfare, and urban renewal. Under these circumstances,
unauthorized housing was being built at random, causing numerous social problems.
As of 2017, the SHCC manages 185,000 units of public rental housing which is about 5% of total housing units in
Seoul, and roughly 450,000 people are living in public rental homes in Seoul.
It also manages public rental housing in Seoul City and provides its residents with various services designed to increase
their quality of life and meet their demands.
