Semester 1 Project: fall 2016
Architecture of Iberian Peninsula
Spanish architecture
o research from Spanish sources only with ALL sources cited, minimum of 6 sources (combination of online, print, anecdotal
interview, podcast/videocast etc.).
o Inform:
i. historical, social, religious (?) contexts
ii. architectural/artistic styles
You are encouraged to seek out sources of expertise from the University of Wyoming Faculty, which may be oral
interview in English (record).
Other sources: consult with Sra. Chamberlain
o compare/contrast to comparable local (Laramie), regional pieces/spaces (Wyoming, Rocky Mtns), national (?) in consultation with
Sra. Chamberlain
research on sites written in English allowed, 2-3 sources (combination of online, print, anecdotal interview,
podcast/videocast etc.).
You are encouraged to seek out sources of expertise from the University of Wyoming Faculty, record.

Presentation: week prior to Winter Break (December) or week following Winter Break (January)
o Anyone not completing this during the 2 weeks allotted will NOT present at all. If you are going to be absent during the two
weeks of presentations, it is YOUR responsibility to arrange to present PRIOR to December 12, 2016.
Grading:
o Submit 10 factual questions, 2 short answer prompts, 1 essay prompt representing your research for unit assessment; due at time
of presentation
o Timed Writing: 20” over own research,2nd
week of January, Writing X3
o Assessment over unit content of all projects: matching of images, significant styles, historical figures, specific architectural
pieces, historical contexts etc.,2nd
week of January. This will be in lieu of other Final Exam. Testing X3.
o Language: see Language Rubric (target Advanced Low +), Speaking X3
o Presentation: poise, practice, fluency, natural incorporation of media to support oral text, Speaking X2
o Second presentation for another class: live or recorded in which case the quality of the recording will be assessed.
