Essay On Alternative Energy Resources
Alternative Energy Resources
At the rate that planet Earth is going, it will be destroyed by humans. Over time, the United States of America has developed new ways of producing
electricity to keep the country running. However, time has revealed to citizens that the current, majorly–used resources cause a lot of issues, such as
pollution and inconvenient economic trends. Therefore, it is time for a change in how the country manufactures electricity compared to how it is
produced today, so that our planet and people will have a better, brighter future.
Why Fix it if it isn't Broken?
Some people might ask, "Why change?" However, it does not occur to them that several issues have been noticed with the current ways of producing
energy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be most beneficial to smaller communities who are looking for ways to improve the environment without becoming financially stressed.
Financially, this helps out in the long run. "By 2050, the United States has the potential to create 600,000 jobs, save consumers $149 billion, and save
260 billion gallons of water by continuing to increase the amount of wind energy that powers our homes, schools and businesses." (Liz Hartman, "Top
10 Things You Didn't know AboutWind Power, 2017) Something to also note about wind energy, is the fact that no pollution is created during the
process. The use of wind turbines does not release harmful particles into the air, it merely reuses the air that is all around us. Burning coal and natural
gas, something the United States does on a large scale, creates a massive amount of air pollution despite the filters in the plants to prevent that. When
burning coal and natural gas, carbon dioxide and other harmful gasses are released into the air, affecting the environment and people. Breathing in the
air pollution, especially on a daily basis in say, Los Angeles, can cause harmful effects to the body. Issues ranging from respiratory trouble to diseases,
and cancer are commonly found from inhaling air pollution, even in small amounts. But, with the use of these giant wind turbines, a

Renewable Energy : Renewable Resources
Renewable energy: energy in which comes from natural resources that are naturally replenished, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat
(Bhatia, 2014). This essay is focused on the main three renewable energies, wind, sunlight, and water. Renewable resources are well on the way to out
rule the fossil fuel industry because of the diminishing amount of fossil fuels left in the world and increase of renewable resource use, the damage
fossil fuels do to the environment, and the various positive aspects that renewable resources bring.
Fossil fuels will run out in the world with time, these fuels take millions of years to form, the supply simply cannot meet the demands of the world
forever. According to the Colorado River Commission of Nevada, the amount ofpetroleum left in the world is 2,686 billion barrels left, annually, the
world uses 27 billion barrels (2002). Natural gas has 14,006 billion left and the world uses 84 billion barrels a year (The Colorado River Commission of
Nevada, 2002). Coal has 1,089 billion barrels left with 5 billion used a year (The Colorado River Commission of Nevada, 2002). This may seem
like a lot of fossil fuels, but with the population continuing to grow, this is not a very large quantity. As stated by the Colorado River Commission of
Nevada, "All together the fossil fuel resources is estimated to be gone between 2050 and 2075" (2002). It is certain that fossil fuels are limited, and
will eventually run dry. This may not seem to

Types Of Energy Resources Used All Over The World
There are many types of energy resources used all over the world. These can be classified as either renewable or non–renewable energy sources.
Renewable sources are those that are found readily but do not face the possibility of depletion. These include solar, wind and hydroelectric energy
sources. Non–renewable energy sources are found in the environment but can be depleted by overuse and these include natural gas, coal, and oil.
Among the renewable energy sources, solar energy is the most commonly used in homes and businesses. It has several advantages that make it an
attractive option for people who consider the health of the environment as a major priority.
The sun is present all year round in all parts of the world. This is a big advantage as it is evident that this resource is more reliable because of its
availability. Regardless of how often and how widely it is used across the world, it is not possible to deplete this energy source. There are areas that
are unpredictable when it comes to solar power, but these are very few places and this still makes solar power more reliable than other sources that
are not as readily available as the sun (Boyle 83). These include non–renewable sources that can run out including coal and oil. It also includes
renewable sources that are not available everywhere such as, water and wind. Another advantage of solar energy is that it is not subject to human
control and manipulation, as has been the case with non–renewable energy

Ђ™S
1: What types of energy resources provide most of the world's power? Why do you think this is? First, a sociological positive feedback mechanism
has formed. Since most of society uses fossil fuels, other people use fossil fuels too like sheep. Second, generally, money indeed buys happiness, and
only the amount of money needed changes with economic class. Fossil fuels are both dirt cheap to start using and to continue using. Third, the United
States likely is an outlier in the pie chart due to its abundant access to fossil fuels due to the activity in the middle east and its geographic location. 2:

Why is it important? The EROEI means Energy Resource Over Energy Investment; it gives you the number you have multiply the input by to get the
output, or the percentage of the input you get as an output. This is important because it allows quantifying of energy usage. 7: Why is energy use
generally a very inefficient process under current world practices? Energy quality accounts for the entire journey to the destination, in addition to any
other externalities, which usually end up being negative that affect its indirect efficiency. 8: Electricity can be generated from many different sources.
Explain how an electricity generator works to convert energy from the original source in to electricity. The fossil fuel goes to a boiler, which burns
the fuel implanted into it. The burned fuel transfers its kinetic energy into the water, increasing its heat and turning it into steam. The steam turns the
blades of a turbine, which makes electricity. 9: What does a power plant's capacity measure? A power plant's capacity measures its maximum
electrical output. 10: Complete the following chart with information regarding fossil fuels: How is it formed & Which countries produce the

Alternative Energy Resources : Renewable Energy Source
Alternate energy resources are being developed to compete against the fossil fuel power stations. Fossil fuel such as coal and oil are drilled and
shoveled out of the ground and then processed to be turned into electricity. Problems with fossil fuels are that they produce hazardous air emissions
and give off by–products that will harm the area. Some well–known alternate renewable energy resources are wind, solar, and hydro power. These are
all sources that are in abundance and will be around for billions of years. Hydropower provides substantial amounts of electricity to the world by
exploiting water, it totals about one fifth of the electricity worldwide (Renewable). While hydropower has its flaws, some environmentalists disclaim
that hydropower is a widespread renewable energy source. However, this is a misconception because water is renewed in the water cycle, dams are
environmentally sustainable to the ecosystem, and the only discharge from hydropower is unpolluted water.
The idea of water not being renewable is preposterous. The water cycle is a process that always accounts for water. Water evaporates and goes back
up as condensation and this creates clouds. Clouds then precipitate water, and the rainfall renews the water that will be used in dams.
EPA, the Environmental Protection Agency, states "hydropower is considered a renewable energy resource because it uses the Earth 's water cycle to
generate electricity" (Hydroelectricity). Water is regenerated and always

Renewable and Nonrewable Energy Resources Essay
Renewable and Nonrewable Energy Resources
Energy is used as part of everyday lives and can be used in one form or another. Energy is about doing work and it is all around us. Animals need
energy to live and machines need energy to work. Energy exists in many forms, such as:
– Light
– Heat
– Electrical
– Mechanical
– Atomic
– Chemical–etc.
There are different types of energy resources. They go into two groups, which are Non–renewable and Renewable.
NON–RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES ==============================

It comes from tiny plants and animals remains that used to live in oceans over a million of years ago. As their remains built up on the ocean floor,
layers of sediment were formed and gas was produced by heat and pressure. Gas is cleaned and processed after it has been taken from the ground to
get rid of impurities. After this it is pumped into storage tanks and carried around the country.Natural gas really has no smell but the distinctive smell
has been added as a warning of leaks.
The advantages of gas are:
– Shrinks when cooled
– Turned into liquid, when put under pressure.
– Easily portable in liquid form.
The production platform of gas to homes:
1) Gas is pumped to processing plants on shore.
2) Sent to compressor station.
3) Into storage tanks.
4) Gas companies supply it.
5) Into peoples homes.
6) Gas metres record how much gas is used.
Oil
Oil is a very important fuel and is used for many mostly to make them run smoothly. Oil is used as one third of the energy we use today. There are
many types and in many forms; one form is crude oil, which comes straight out of the ground. It can be used in many different ways, like:
v In power stations– oil is burnt for the heat energy it can provide.
v In engines– that convert heat energy

is being used way too much and why Wind Energy might help us use different types of alternative energy.
Petroleum is a thick mixture of gases, liquid, and solids that are below the Earth's surface. (American Association of Petroleum Geologists, 2008–2012)

Gasoline averages about $3.70 per gallon or higher, depending on the region. Obama backed down on drilling during his campaign when it goes
threatened by the GOP. Since the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico you have to get new offshore drilling permits. Democrats say that they're concerned
citizens with lower incomes would feel the burden of higher gas and food prices. (Berman, 2011)
Since 1970, geologists, economists and industry analysts have been wondering just how long worldwide supplies will keep up with growing
demand. They say that they estimated that we have about 2 trillion barrels left. Since 1998, the price of a barrel of oil had fallen to $12. The global
demand for oil is currently at more than 80 million barrels per day. (msnbc.com, 2013)
Wind Energy
We use wind turbine so we can use the wind's energy to generate electricity. At 100 feet aboveground, they can take advantage of the faster and less
turbulent wind. Farmers and ranchers in windy areas can also use wind turbines as a way to cut their electric bills. Small wind systems also have

The State of Wyoming and Energy Resources
The State of Wyoming has been described as one of most prolific states as far as energy resources are concerned. Please provide your take on this
state's resources and how they are being utilized. Does the state have a plan on how to curtail pollution in the long–run?
Wyoming accounts for a major percentage of coal mined all over the United States. Wyoming's Powder River Basin holds the eight largest coal mines
of the United States. Wyoming obtains more than 90% of the state'sdomestic coal from Wyoming. The state is also good in the production ofnatural gas
. Due to the excess usage of fuels, the people of the state are facing issues such as watery eyes, breath shortnessand bleeding noses due to the rise in the
ozone levels. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality warned the people with respiratory symptoms to avoid extended outdoor activities
(Reynolds, 2013).
In order to overcome the problems associated with the use of resources that causes pollution, the state should employ renewable sources of energy.
Wyoming has abundant renewable energy resources. 47 percent of the total energy used in the United States can be obtained from Wyoming alone
(Reynolds, 2013).The state adheres to the federal standards for air pollutants that are hazardous to health. The Department of Environmental Quality of
Wyoming monitors the air resources by conducting inspections to keep the atmosphere clean.

Introduction
What is your first thought of energy resources? Is it something that got to do with electricity? First of all, I would say that the energy system is not very
sustainable because it can either be sustainable, or not sustainable. The energy resources used by mankind have grown dramatically and it is affecting
the environment by leaving negative impact to the environment. Not only the government sector, but also the private sectors that are aware of the
environment are trying to find alternatives to sustainable development to prevent the environment from being destroyed.

The hospitality and tourism industry in Malaysia will be affected by natural disaster as results of fossil fuels burning.
Three Ways of Malaysian Tourism Industry to Counter Effects of Fossil Fuels Burning
To tackle the impacts of fossil fuels towards the environment and the hospitality and tourism industry, the usage of biofuels should be practice
widely. Biofuels is much more environmentally friendly and it would preserve the environment because biofuels would not release any harmful
gas such as sulphur and acid emissions. Biofuels are fuels that are made from plant materials. Most biofuels now are obtained from fermentation of
food products, such as corn kernels and sugar cane, and vegetable oils, such as soy and oil palm. However, there was a protest in using food
products to produce biofuels. It was fully supported when a kind of plant named jatropha came in. Jatropha is resistant to drought and pests, and it
produces seeds that contain up to 40% oil, which can be used in a standard diesel engine and also processed into biomass to power electricity plants.
The usage of biofuels is environmentally friendly because biofuels are renewable, and they can offer environmental benefits such as lower emissions of
carbon and sulphur compared with petroleum–based fuels. If lower emissions are to be released by biofuels, then the environment

Renewable Energy Resources
The fact that 86% of our energy comes from nonrenewable, polluting, costly fossil fuels and only 14% is renewable is diabolical. Why must we harm
our environment to contribute to our energy production when renewable energy sources are so abundantly present so that we may be symbiotic with
nature? To lessen our environmental impact and be able to avoid the high expenses of non–renewable fossil fuels in the near future it should be obvious
that we start to use more renewable energy sources than we do nonrenewable resources for apparent reasons. It's the only answer, as we have already
contributed to the now unstoppable melt of the glaciers in Antarctica soon to raise the sea level, according to scientist, four feet higher (Coghlan
"Collapse of Antarctic Glaciers"). There are many whom say the environmentalist faction are foolish, for the renewable energy devices such as wind
turbines, solar panels, or dams are too costly as opposed to cheap fossil fuels. Although it is well known that non–renewables may be cheap, they will
soon start to deplete triggering a price rise in all of the available resources, such as petroleum, coal, and natural gas. In fact, it took at least five
million years for the current fossil fuels, like peat or ignite coal, to be created and at the current rate through which we are using our fossil fuels they
will deplete at a much more rapid rate every year (Nelder "The End Of Fossil Fuel"). In contrast, renewable energy sources like the sun and wind are

Finally, these energy sources have very negative affect on the environment when they are mined or consumed. (Tim Clifford, 2008)
Importance of Non–renewable Energy Sources
Before discussing about the disadvantages of non–renewable sources of energy let's look on some important uses of them. According to Richards (as
cited in Fossil Fuels, 2004), fossil fuels are the most common fuels used from a long time since they were discovered. Everything that involves
transportation is utilizing fossils fuels in some or the other way. Coal, the other most common form of non–renewable energy source is used to produce
electricity. Moreover coal is also used to refine metals. Natural gas, which is the result of decomposing plants and animals, is mainly used in home for
cooking. Nuclear fuels also come under non–renewable sources but they are cleanest of all of them. They are used when large amount of energy has to
be extracted.
Coal, oil and natural gas, which come under natural resources, took millions of years to form. Therefore, it is impossible to replace them once we
consume them. The main energy sources used by humans are non–renewable; renewable resources, such as solar, tidal, wind, and geothermal power,
have so far been less exploited.

Is Nuclear Energy A Safe And Reliable Resource?
Is Nuclear Energy a Safe and Reliable Resource?
When the term nuclear power or nuclear energy comes into conversations, often the first thoughts that come to mind are bombs, destruction,
radioactive waste, and war. However, these four things occur the least in the nuclear power field. It is far more than just mass destruction and
devastation, nuclear power is used to create electricity in a safe and eco–friendly manor. People have a high level of concern about the use of nuclear
energy especially after past devastations such as Chernobyl or Fukushima. Even with these accidents, society should not oppose the use of nuclear
energy because of advancements in technology, it has become a very environmentally friendly and cost efficient energy source.
First, proponents of nuclear energy maintain that many safety issues are solved using newer reactor technologies, reducing the likelihood of accidents.
Safety precautions increased dramatically in nuclear reactors preventing future meltdowns like Chernobyl or Fukushima. Many conclude that these
technologies make nuclear reactors safer than coal burning plants. New reactor designs incorporate passive safety features which require no active
controls or operational intervention to avoid accidents in the event of malfunction. These features may rely on gravity, natural convection and or
resistance to high temperature to prevent a meltdown. All safety systems are redundant and most new designs have both redundant active and

Energy Is An Essential Resource For The Human Race
Energy has always been an essential resource to the human race. During simpler times all the energy required for living was obtained through food
and fire. However, as humans developed and created new technologies a different type of energy was required. Thus, the first coal powered machines
were created such as the steam engine. Over time technology kept improving and became more complex; as a result, the energy needed to power the
world increased, but little changed in how it was obtained.
The way energy is produced to power the lives on earth has, for the most part, gone unchanged; burning coal. According to the U.S. Energy
Information Administration, coal, or fossil fuels as it is regularly called, supplied approximately 75% of the energy used in the United States in 2014
("10. Renewable Energy" 150). Until recently this was not considered an issue because fossil fuels provided sufficient energy with no noticeable
downside. However, with the realization that fossil fuels will someday run out and evidence of its contribution to climate change; a large majority of
scientists believe fossil fuels cannot remain the main contributor of energy for the future. The problem is so dire that Mark A. Delucchi, a research

Renewable Resources For Solar Energy
Solar Energy is something that the entire world relies on every day. Without energy, the earth would be dark, and nothing will be able to operate.
Lately, there has been many concerns with the various types of resources that are used to generate energy. Many resources that are used are
non–renewable resource. This means that the resources such as oil and coal are not grown or produced, they are found in regions in specific sections
of the world. These resources are also recognized as fossil fuels. Researchers have been working for numerous years to find new ways to generate
energy without using these resources that cause issues for the environment. By using renewable sources such as the sun, new ways to create energy
have developed. Solar energy is energy that is created by the sunshine. This sort of energy that derives from the sun can create electricity in
households. With new emerging technology, solar energy can perform different types of energy for diverse uses such as heating water or generate
electricity for a home. This alternative energy that goes beyond fossil fuels can be extremely beneficial for the environment; However, there might be
some downfalls for a consumer if they needed to use solar energy to provide electricity.
The sun has been playing a very significant role for earth and humans. It has been the producer of light and without it several things would not exist.

energy. Another reason to find different ways to generate energy is that the burning and processing offossil fuels emit NOx, SOx, CO2, and other
particulate matter that is harmful to our environment and our health. Some may argue that nuclear energy power plants is the way that our society should

These Non–depletable resources have been not only been around for years but the resources needed to use them are renewable and the environmental
and social drawbacks related to their use are very minor compared to the other forms of energy generation.
Of all the non–depletable energy resources, I am most interested in Solar Energy. Although it is the newest and least developed non–depletable energy
resources, its benefits makes it an energy resource that many people are interested in studying and developing. The concept of solar energy was first
studied by 19 year old French expiramental physicist Edmund Becquerel in 1839 so it is a fairly new energy resource. Some pros of using Solar
energy are the environmental benefits, high reliability, and low operating costs. Two of the draw backs are low efficiency (9
–15%) and High costs;
however, as more people start to use solar energy the costs will drop. Solar energy works by converting electromagnetic energy using photovoltaic
cells into electricity. Location, time of day, season, and strength of sun are all important factors to solar energy. Today, there are some minor
experiments with solar energy and they have all proved to be very efficient with their savings outweighing the costs. For example, there is a house in
Massachusetts that uses solar energy.

Energy Resources And Renewable Energy
Everyone uses a lot of power for lighting, heating, machines, movements, and so much more. All of that energy has to come from an energy supply.
Some energy resources are renewable, while others are non–renewable. Energy has various forms and is a very essential part of our everyday lives. In
my house, I always try to conserve energy when I can. I try an hot water by using a lower flow shower head and very rarely use the bath tub which
does waste a lot of hot water. When buying light bulbs, I only buy LED light bulbs for the lights in my house. I keep the thermostat below 75
degrees when it is cold out even if that means needing to use extra blankets. There are many other things that I can do to conserve energy. Some of
these things would be to turn off any electrical devices when I am not using them and upgrading some appliances that may be out of date, as the
newer ones are usually more energy efficient. It is fascinating to imagine how much energy I do use in one day. I have to charge my cell phone
everyday, as it also acts as my alarm clock. My furnace keeps the house warm when it gets cold outside. I use the hot water heater one to three times a
day when I shower or wash my face. I use the microwave, George Foreman grill, and stove to makes my meals everyday. The refrigerator keeps my
food and drinks cold. I use my iPad and computer to do schoolwork and attend school seminars. I use my car to drive myself to work and any other

1.3 Energy Misused in Campus
Energy management supplies sizeable options throughout helping significant community organizations including colleges, hospitals wards,

something electricity providers as well as electricity corporations accomplish to ensure that his or her electric power programs as well as alternative
electricity solutions produce enough electricity to satisfy need in which the volume of electricity which his or her shoppers require. It can be used to
refer to method for handling and regulating one 's own levels of personal energy. Energy wastage can arise throughout Malaysian colleges mainly due to
ineffective utilization of energy as well as not enough consciousness involving constructing consumers.
There are many instances of energy misused in campus such as energy uses in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) must normally be

Natural Resources and Energy Paper
Natural Resources and Energy Paper An ecosystem is a connection among living resources, residents, and habitats of an area. It includes animals,
plants, microorganisms, trees, water and people. Everything that lives in that specific ecosystem is reliant on the other elements of that ecological
society. Oceans are considered ecosystems due to the plant life supporting the animal life and also the animal life supporting the plant life. The earth's
marine waters cover two– thirds of its surface making marine ecosystem the largest of its aquatic ecosystems. In this paper we will identify the effects
that a growing human population may have on that ecosystem's resources, including loss or harm to populations of wild species, discuss one... Show

Research traces the increase in damage done to the marine ecosystem back from 150 to 300 years ago and it has only increased since then. The
growth in population can also cause effects in the loss or harm of wild species. In the early 1900's most mammals, birds, salmon, tuna, sharks and
reptiles were depleted, and continued to decline by 1950 as the demand grew for different resources. The International Union for Conservation has a
record of ocean animals that are on the "Red List". This list has 620 species of marine animals listed on it and these animals are in danger of becoming
extinct. This should show the human population that we need to work harder to put in a greater effort in protecting our oceans against pollution and
overfishing. Strategies and techniques for marine ecosystem conservation would be setting up protected areas, as with marine protected areas (MPAs)
or Voluntary Marine Conservation Areas. Other techniques include developing sustainable fisheries and restoring the populations of endangered
species through artificial means. Another focus of conservationists is on curtailing human activities that are detrimental to either marine ecosystems or
species through policy, techniques such as fishing quotas, like those set up by the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization, or laws such as those
listed below. Recognizing the economics involved in human use of

Renewable vs. Non-Renewable Energy Resources
Renewable Vs. Non–renewable Energy Resources: Environmental and Economical Advantages and Disadvantages
Imagine a life without washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, computers, televisions, lights, and cars. Imagine a planet so polluted that smog is in
the air so bad that one cannot see very far, lakes and streams are poisoned, and land so badly scarred from people trying to find more energy sources.
One day this may be a reality if we do not do something to change how we use our energy resources. This may be the case if society keeps using non–
renewable energy resources at its current consumption rate. Our saving grace may be the development and use of using renewable energy resources.
Renewable sources not only will help our planet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also costs much money to dig or drill, clean or extract these sources, and to ship them out to other companies.
Renewable Energy Resources
Pollution
Renewable energy resources are clean because they not only come from the environment but there is no need to change chemically the source in
order to get usable energy. The sun for instance gives off heat, which warms our planet. This same heat can be used to warm water pipes, which can
heat a business or home. This definitely requires no equipment to acquire this energy. The sun as a resource can also excite particles in a solar
collector. According to Merriam–Webster dictionary, solar collectors are various devices used in the absorption of solar radiation to heat water or
produce electricity, (Dictionary and Thesauras– Marriam–Webster Online, 2007–2008). These excited particles generate electricity. There does not
necessarily have to be direct sunlight, for this process. Even on a cloudy day, energy can be produced though lower than on a sunny day. Since the
sun will be here for another million to billion years from now this process can continue forever. Using the sun as an energy source means that no
pollution will be generated from it being converted into usable energy.
Wind power is another renewable energy source. Wind is generated from the sun heating the Earth. Humans have been harnessing the power in wind
for hundreds of years. Humans have used it

Alternative Resources for Energy Instead of Fossil Fuels...
Alternative resources for energy are being used instead of fossil fuels being used .Fossil fuels create greenhouse gases which accumulate in the
atmosphere and harms it. Some alternative options for getting energy are using solar, hydro, and wind power. Not only are these alternatives better for
the environment they can still be used when fossil fuels run out. Solar energy is one of the alternatives to fossil fuels. Solar energy is used to create
electricity in two ways. The first process is using sunlight to heat up water that creates high–pressure steam that spins turbine blades. The second
process involves the movement and displacement of electrons to absorb the sun's radiation and create electricity (Energy Kids). Solar energy can be ...

The turbines transform 2/3 of the energy in wind into electricity; which is more than fossil fuels transform. One downside to using wind power is that
the turbines stand out and ruin the beauty of natural lands. Wind power is environment friendly and generates lots of power for people. Many
places have started to use hydro power because many areas have become hotter and wetter. To work hydro power relies on the water cycle, and it
harnesses the mechanical energy from moving water. Most of hydro power comes from reservoirs, but sometimes running rivers are used. The
amount of available energy in moving water is determined by its flow or fall (Energy Kids). The water flows through a pipe, or penstock, then pushes
against and turns blades in a turbine to spin a generator to produce electricity (Energy Kids). In a run–of–the–river system, the force of the current
applies the needed pressure, while in a storage system, water is accumulated in reservoirs created by dams, then released as needed to generate
electricity (Energy Kids). Hydroelectric dams burn no fuel, and release no polluting gases that can cause environmental powers. Hydro power is used
by many countries and is friendly to the environment. Having alternative energy resources that are friendly to the environment is important for the
future to have less pollution. The amount of greenhouse gases that get released into the

Energy Resources : Renewable And Non Renewable Ones
One of the most important innovations ever made by humankind was a discovery of the ability to transform the energy into the electricity. In
today's modern world it is hard to imagine that there was a world without the electricity and that electricity was gifted to the humanity just 400 years
ago. As George Gobel said once: "If it weren't for electricity, we'd all be watching television by candlelight". Electricity is the gift granted to humans
and it is our generation's duty to use the electricity energy smartly and pass it to future generations. For being able to do so we should cooperate and
find ways to save the energy. There are two types of the energy resources: renewable and non–renewable ones. While exhaustible sources of the energy
are limited, there are also unlimited sources granted to us by nature. Also according to Chicago Tribune, renewable energy is one of the most important
strategies to combat carbon pollution because, unlike natural gas, it emits no global warming emissions (Chicago Tribune, 2012). I would like to give
an information about some unlimited energy sources and methods which in my mind are the most beneficial for producing the electricity. First energy
source I would like to discuss is the solar energy. Solar energy generating method is a method of converting sunlight directly to the electricity through
the system of panels or mirrors. When sunlight warms heat absorbing panels, they produce steam, which is

International Energy Resources And Prices
1. In what ways is OPEC important, and not so important, in terms of international energy resources and prices?
In the panorama of international relations, the absence of universal or potentially universal institution dealing with energy is notable. Established in
1960, OPEC's original trigger was the continuing slide in posted prices, which at the time were unilaterally established by the International Oil
Companies.
It is frequently maintained that OPEC is a cartel that has the power to effectively limit its members' oil production and exports and thus influence oil
prices.
However, this representation is way off the mark, and grossly exaggerates OPEC's cohesion and influence. In actual fact, OPEC is more akin to a club

By that, the major pro will be a cleaner air and better quality, reducing the number of deaths caused by poor quality air. The con of fracking for health
problems is that air quality dynamics around fracking operations are not fully understood. Similarly, fracking is known for its low water intensity
compared to fuels and nuclear, which use up to 10 times more water than fracking (per energy unit). However, the con is the intrusive presence of
fracking within the environment where it is implemented: noise, heavy infrastructures etc.
In addition, fracking raises the question of greenhouse gas leaks. The major pro of hydraulic fracturing here is the gigantic benefit of release of green
house emission: it is commonly believed that natural gas produces only about 50% of the greenhouse gas emission compared with burning of coal. On
the other hand, researches have showed that big quantities of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, have leaked from fracking.
The third important point linked to hydraulic fracturing concerns drinking water and shallow aquifers. The major pro raised in that question is the
reliability of fracking operations and infrastructures: drinking water is situated at different level than oil or gas which means that with an efficient good
quality piping system, contaminating drinking water supplies is very unlikely. However, this particular point has revealed to be a

Water, Energy And Food Nexus : A Tool For Sustainable...
Water, Energy and Food nexus: A tool for Sustainable Resources Management Background: Introduce the research topic. Place the project in academic
or professional context by referring to major works by others on the subject. Water is a very basic element of life: it is needed for everyday activity:
domestic, industrial, agricultural and recreational. No life can flourish or even exist without water. Water is essential for all communities: primitive and
developed. The higher the development level, the greater the water demand. In water scarce countries, implementation of tools that optimize allocation
of water among the competing demands is essential to make the best use of the available resources. In addition to water, energy is another resource
essential and basic for human existence and survival on earth, though to a lesser degree than water. As with water, the higher the development level, the
greater the energy demand. Water and energy are strongly interconnected: water is needed to produce energy from its different sources and energy is
needed to pump, treat and transport water to the consumers. Desalination, an important technology for bringing sea water to a quality suitable for
human consumption, requires significant amounts of energy: Reverse Osmosis plants require (4–6) kw.h./m3 of desalinated water versus (21–58)
kw.h./m3 for multistage flash (Semiat; 2008). The water sector in Jordan uses about 15% of the national energy consumption for water pumping,

Energy Demands: Alternative Energy Resources
Can growing energy demands be met safely and efficiently? My talk today is about energy especially about energy demands. What is energy? In
physics, energy is defined as the capacity to do work. This capacity is very important to our daily lives, business, and education and even for the
national security. This is why it is so important for world to meet the growing demands of the energy. According to Global future studies & research
stated that there are 1.3 billion people are living without electricity today, which is 20% of total population and that 2 billion of population, is
expected to be added to world population between now and 2050. Moreover, countries like BRICS (Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, China, South Africa)

(Economic Watch, 2010) Moreover, the one of the most developed country United Kingdom also dependent 85% of their energy consumes on fossil
fuels. (Quaker Peace & Social Witness, 2013) Those two examples is the indicator that telling us how much our economy is heavily dependent on
fossil fuels. It is a well–known fact that fossil fuel reserves are not infinite and this heavily dependent on limited fossil fuel is the one of key reason
that boost the apprehension of that we might not able to meet the demands of the energy. However, luckily the world trend is heading to decrease
dependency on fossil fuels. For instance, according to the International Energy Agency it identified that demand of bio fuels has been growth steadily
from 16 billion liters in 2000 to 100 billion liters in 2011. (International Energy Agency) In addition, there are alternative power resources rather than
biofuels to substitute fossil fuels such as Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Power, Wind Energy, Geothermal Energy, Hydroelectricity and etc. Lastly, the
development of technology can be a breakthrough to meet the growing demand energy. Technology innovation has always played a key role to moving
the energy industry forward. Many successful new technologies have impacted greatly on maximizing fuel efficiency. On this circumstance of heavily
relying on limited amount of fossil fuels, the maximize efficiency can be a visually effective strategies to meet the rising of the

Energy Efficiency and Sustaining Resources For the Future
Do Americans or human beings as a whole need to be more energy cautious? I think we need to become better educated and make knowledgeable
decisions in how we use our energy and at what rate in which we use it. The brutal truth of the matter is that our resources of energy we are using
are not going to last forever. In the United States we consumed 94,231 trillion Btu during 1997. The state of New York alone used 4.24% of that total
energy, or about 4,000 trillion Btu of energy ("How much?", Internet). We need to move away from the excessive use of energy, especially energy

Main Energy Goals:
In the beginning of every good plan, you have goals, something to work towards. In my energy plan I work towards four main goals. The first goal
that my energy plan contains is efficiency measures; one example being is the increase of fuel efficiency. This can be done by raising the miles per
gallon standards, or encourage design models for cars that are more efficient in gasoline use. Another efficiency measure is the introduction of
efficiency procedures people can take. Some examples: if they installed energy–efficient technologies, such as compact florescent light bulbs and
efficient appliances. One other method is to provide tax incentives for efficient new buildings and equipment. If the government offered tax credits for
the use of efficient equipment and building designs, this would bring immediate results in energy efficiency. One of the last ways I would like to
introduce efficiency is by strengthening energy–efficient standards on appliances and residential living.
The second of my four energy goals engages renewable energy. Wind power, when appropriately sited, can generate and provide massive amounts of
clean energy. This would be beneficial to the decrease offossil fuel use. Another source like, solar energy, can be implemented just about anywhere. It

Abstract: This paper presents stochastic synchronization of distributed energy resources (DERs) operation in an islanded micro grid in light of
uncertainties. In doing so, a comprehensive stochastic mathematical model is developed which incorporates a set of valid probable scenarios for the
uncertainties of load and irregularity in wind and solar generation sources. The uncertainty is addressed through a combination of a stochastic
optimization model and additional reserve requirements. The model also includes hourly interruption costs for a variety of customer types as a means
of determining the optimal stochastic interruptible load whose reliability–based value is very low to enable it to be shed if necessary. A study is
carried out using a benchmark micro grid; numerical results demonstrate that coordinated operation of DERs brings prominent benefits in terms of
expected operation costs and system security. This stochastic

Use Of Nonrenewable Resources On Energy Consumption
Within the next several hundred years, scientists predict planet Earth will meet its demise if humans fail to change their methods of energy
consumption (Stehr). Right now, 192 out of 195 countries are using nonrenewable resources as their main source of energy (Shahan). The problem
with this is that coal and oil are nonrenewable resources meaning once they are gone, they do not get replenished. These fossil fuels also emit high
concentrations of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere when burned and expended. Not only does this fuel global warming and its consequences, but
greenhouse gases also pose as a health hazard to humans everywhere. The most common type of harmful greenhouse gas is smog. Smog is produced

With people regularly working at factories, operating motor vehicles, and using hairspray, smog is continuously added into the atmosphere and
further deterring the health of humans. Smog threatens the lives of people all over the world ranging from China to London to right here in the
United States of America (Causes and Effects of Smog). Greenhouse gases does not only impair human life, it also deters life in the oceans.
Scientists correlate the increased amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with the increased acidity of Earth's ocean waters. When carbon
dioxide is absorbed into ocean water, carbonic acid is created. As the name implies, carbonic acid is considerably acidic with a pH level of 2. This
impedes marine life because many shell–fish organisms, clams, lobsters, shrimp, and crabs, have their shells made of calcium carbonate. In acidic
environments, calcium carbonate is very susceptible to deteriorating and dissolving. This is dangerous for the oceanic organisms because these high
levels of acidity can cause defections, mutations, or even species extinction (Bradford). With the bundles of problems bestowed from burning
nonrenewable resources and global warming, it is obvious that humans must make a change in order to save planet Earth. Greenhouse gases affects
every living organism on land and in the oceans. Ninety seven percent of scientists attribute the constantly growing volume

Renewable Resources For Renewable Energy
Introduction
In the most basic definition, energy is power that is harnessed from physical or chemical resources, often utilized in order to produced light, heat or
fuel. It can be extracted from various renewable or non–renewable sources and has become a necessity for day to day life. Currently non–reusable
resources account for the majority of energy production. The prominence of fossil fuels in the energy sector validates this claim. At the same time this
statement reveals a major world issue in regards to energy sustainability. Although they may able to produce copious amounts of energy, non
–renewable
resources cannot renew themselves on the timescale required by current energy consumption. With this in mind, non–renewable resource depletion is
inevitable without sustainable energy alternatives for future generations. At this point it is important to recognize the difficulty of this task given the
ever increasing energy consumption associated with exponential population growth. Amongst all nations, Canada is near the forefront ofrenewable
energy; the country is the fourth largest producer of renewable electrical energy despite its 8th place standing in energy consumption. This is
undoubtable due to the abundance of natural resources in its geographical location. Currently 17% of total energy production is derived from
renewable resources, despite the sector not being fully developed. Based on its initiatives in incorporating more renewable energy technologies to

Renewable Energy Resources?
Renewable Energy Resources? In our society today many individuals don't realize the overall problems with pollution in our water sources, soil, and
air particles. Renewable energy is defined as energy that comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat.
One of the first ancestor to discover renewable energy was the Egyptians. They gathered the energy from wind to help navigate their boats along the
Nile River. Even today we still use some of the techniques that our ancestors invented thousands of years ago. One event that caused renewable
energy to fall was after World War II. It was not until the 1970's where renewable energy became more popular. There is numerous amount of other
renewable resources that are still being utilized today. Without electric powered automobiles, companies couldn't accomplish high MPG ratings, also
for generations individuals have been tapping into geothermal areas, to heat their homes. The amount of renewable energy that is created per year is
only about 15%, whereas coal makes up 65%. If America would spend more time, research, and money on renewable energy like wind, solar, and
geothermal heat, it would reduce pollution waste drastically. Further more, If states would make incentives to decrease power bill % for individuals
who have installed solar panels, or wind turbines, the united states would see quicker results. The United States certainly has been fighting with

Natural gas is one of many energy resources being sought out as an alternative to some of the more pollutant geologic resources used abundantly
today. Natural gas is being raved about due to how much cleaner it burns than other traditional fossil fuels, and it is becoming one of the more popular
forms of energy because of this trait. It is a colorless, odorless fossil fuel, also known as methane. Today's uses for this resource are heating, cooling,
production of electricity, and many uses in industry. It is being combined with other fossil fuels to improve environmental performance and decrease
pollution. Overall, natural gas is becoming popular because it is an abundant, alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when natural gas burns the combustion leaves almost no sulfur dioxide emissions in the air and all other emissions are far less than
other fossil fuels. The reduction of these toxic emissions will help us reduce two of the main air pollution issues we face today –– acid rain and carbon
monoxide ozone pollution.
There is one area that will make natural gas become a dominant source of energy due to its cleanliness and that is in the field of transportation. If we
can make all cars and vehicles natural gas fueled then there will be a huge change in the amount of pollution that gas fueled vehicles put in the air
today. For example, about three–fourths of the carbon monoxide pollution found in the city areas is contributed my gas fueled cars, as well as a
significant amount hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emissions. It has been found that if we were to use natural gas instead of gasoline the carbon
monoxide emissions can be cut down about ninety percent and the hydrocarbon emissions by almost eighty–five percent. This is an amazing amount of
pollution reduction would make a huge change in the cleanliness of our air.
The last and most important factors of natural gas are its reliability and its abundance in the world today. The natural gas service we have in North
America has proven to be reliable, and as it becomes a more marketable commodity the

Energy Resources And Nonrenewable Resources
Despite only being around for around two hundred thousand years, humanity has accomplished many great tasks. Humans have been able to conquer
most of the land on Earth. They have been able to find ways to travel across huge landscapes in a matter of hours. They have developed ways to grow
and harvest their own food through agriculture. Humans even were able to send people into space. Despite these accomplishments, they have all come
at a great cost. Humans had to deforest many areas in order to be able to live in those places. Almost all of the modern transportation relies on the
nonrenewable resource that is fossil fuels. As the population has grown, bigger farms were made that consume loads of water. Due to these costs, the
greatest threat to human sustainability is our reliance on nonrenewable energy and resources. In order to shift from this path, humanity must continue
to move away from nonrenewable energy and develop renewable energy, and convince businesses that this path is profitable. In the current system, the
greatest threat to the survival of humanity is the over reliance on nonrenewable energy resources. What generally comes to mind with nonrenewable
resources is fossil fuels, however trees and water can also be applied in this situation. When the topic is about deforestation, some would argue that
trees can grow back making them a renewable resource. However, at the rate people are cutting them, the trees do not have enough time to grow back.

Electricity production:
Hydropower and nuclear energy account for 95% of Switzerland's electricity production with 56% of electricity production coming from hydropower
and 39% from nuclear power.
Hydropower, obtained from the energy produced by moving water, is widely used in Switzerland due to the country's topography and high levels of
rainfall. There are 556 hydropower plants in Switzerland with the majority of hydroelectricity production coming from mountainous cantons such as,
Grisons and Uri.

In addition, dams are incredibly expensive to build, and can cause flooding of land, which entails the destruction of the natural environment and habitat
of animals, and people alike. Finally, hydropower depends heavily on high levels of precipitation that one has no control over, making hydropower
very unreliable.
Nuclear power:
Nuclear plants are expensive to build with continuous production of nuclear waste that increases the risk of radioactive accidents, such as the incident
at Chernobyl in 1986, from whose repercussions the inhabitants of the region are still suffering. Moreover, nuclear waste can remain hazardous for tens
of thousands of years. Finally, the mining of uranium (which itself is scarce) contaminates the surrounding area, implying that it causes damage even
before it is used in the plant. Alternatives for the future:
Among possible alternatives for future electricity production, the following are most viable today: solar, wind, and biogas energy– all of which are
renewable, and well suited to the conditions in Switzerland.
Biogas energy is cheap, and produces enriched organic matter that could replace chemical fertilizers. Moreover, the technology needed to create the gas
is cheap to manufacture. However, impurities in the gas can corrode the metal of internal combustion engines.

Essay On Alternative Energy Resources

  • 1. Essay On Alternative Energy Resources Alternative Energy Resources At the rate that planet Earth is going, it will be destroyed by humans. Over time, the United States of America has developed new ways of producing electricity to keep the country running. However, time has revealed to citizens that the current, majorly–used resources cause a lot of issues, such as pollution and inconvenient economic trends. Therefore, it is time for a change in how the country manufactures electricity compared to how it is produced today, so that our planet and people will have a better, brighter future. Why Fix it if it isn't Broken? Some people might ask, "Why change?" However, it does not occur to them that several issues have been noticed with the current ways of producing energy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would be most beneficial to smaller communities who are looking for ways to improve the environment without becoming financially stressed. Financially, this helps out in the long run. "By 2050, the United States has the potential to create 600,000 jobs, save consumers $149 billion, and save 260 billion gallons of water by continuing to increase the amount of wind energy that powers our homes, schools and businesses." (Liz Hartman, "Top 10 Things You Didn't know AboutWind Power, 2017) Something to also note about wind energy, is the fact that no pollution is created during the process. The use of wind turbines does not release harmful particles into the air, it merely reuses the air that is all around us. Burning coal and natural gas, something the United States does on a large scale, creates a massive amount of air pollution despite the filters in the plants to prevent that. When burning coal and natural gas, carbon dioxide and other harmful gasses are released into the air, affecting the environment and people. Breathing in the air pollution, especially on a daily basis in say, Los Angeles, can cause harmful effects to the body. Issues ranging from respiratory trouble to diseases, and cancer are commonly found from inhaling air pollution, even in small amounts. But, with the use of these giant wind turbines, a ... • 2. Renewable Energy : Renewable Resources Renewable energy: energy in which comes from natural resources that are naturally replenished, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat (Bhatia, 2014). This essay is focused on the main three renewable energies, wind, sunlight, and water. Renewable resources are well on the way to out rule the fossil fuel industry because of the diminishing amount of fossil fuels left in the world and increase of renewable resource use, the damage fossil fuels do to the environment, and the various positive aspects that renewable resources bring. Fossil fuels will run out in the world with time, these fuels take millions of years to form, the supply simply cannot meet the demands of the world forever. According to the Colorado River Commission of Nevada, the amount ofpetroleum left in the world is 2,686 billion barrels left, annually, the world uses 27 billion barrels (2002). Natural gas has 14,006 billion left and the world uses 84 billion barrels a year (The Colorado River Commission of Nevada, 2002). Coal has 1,089 billion barrels left with 5 billion used a year (The Colorado River Commission of Nevada, 2002). This may seem like a lot of fossil fuels, but with the population continuing to grow, this is not a very large quantity. As stated by the Colorado River Commission of Nevada, "All together the fossil fuel resources is estimated to be gone between 2050 and 2075" (2002). It is certain that fossil fuels are limited, and will eventually run dry. This may not seem to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Types Of Energy Resources Used All Over The World There are many types of energy resources used all over the world. These can be classified as either renewable or non–renewable energy sources. Renewable sources are those that are found readily but do not face the possibility of depletion. These include solar, wind and hydroelectric energy sources. Non–renewable energy sources are found in the environment but can be depleted by overuse and these include natural gas, coal, and oil. Among the renewable energy sources, solar energy is the most commonly used in homes and businesses. It has several advantages that make it an attractive option for people who consider the health of the environment as a major priority. The sun is present all year round in all parts of the world. This is a big advantage as it is evident that this resource is more reliable because of its availability. Regardless of how often and how widely it is used across the world, it is not possible to deplete this energy source. There are areas that are unpredictable when it comes to solar power, but these are very few places and this still makes solar power more reliable than other sources that are not as readily available as the sun (Boyle 83). These include non–renewable sources that can run out including coal and oil. It also includes renewable sources that are not available everywhere such as, water and wind. Another advantage of solar energy is that it is not subject to human control and manipulation, as has been the case with non–renewable energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. 1: What Types Of Energy Resources Provide Most Of The Worldв Ђ™S 1: What types of energy resources provide most of the world's power? Why do you think this is? First, a sociological positive feedback mechanism has formed. Since most of society uses fossil fuels, other people use fossil fuels too like sheep. Second, generally, money indeed buys happiness, and only the amount of money needed changes with economic class. Fossil fuels are both dirt cheap to start using and to continue using. Third, the United States likely is an outlier in the pie chart due to its abundant access to fossil fuels due to the activity in the middle east and its geographic location. 2: How does energy use vary across the world? Supply and demand based on the country's economic status, geographic location, industrialization... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why is it important? The EROEI means Energy Resource Over Energy Investment; it gives you the number you have multiply the input by to get the output, or the percentage of the input you get as an output. This is important because it allows quantifying of energy usage. 7: Why is energy use generally a very inefficient process under current world practices? Energy quality accounts for the entire journey to the destination, in addition to any other externalities, which usually end up being negative that affect its indirect efficiency. 8: Electricity can be generated from many different sources. Explain how an electricity generator works to convert energy from the original source in to electricity. The fossil fuel goes to a boiler, which burns the fuel implanted into it. The burned fuel transfers its kinetic energy into the water, increasing its heat and turning it into steam. The steam turns the blades of a turbine, which makes electricity. 9: What does a power plant's capacity measure? A power plant's capacity measures its maximum electrical output. 10: Complete the following chart with information regarding fossil fuels: How is it formed & Which countries produce the most?Advantages & UsesDisadvantages & Environmental Impacts CoalCoal is formed from fossils of plants.Coal contains a lot of energy and is abundant. Next, the technological demands are low, as well as the cost. It is easy to manage and needs little purification before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Alternative Energy Resources : Renewable Energy Source Alternate energy resources are being developed to compete against the fossil fuel power stations. Fossil fuel such as coal and oil are drilled and shoveled out of the ground and then processed to be turned into electricity. Problems with fossil fuels are that they produce hazardous air emissions and give off by–products that will harm the area. Some well–known alternate renewable energy resources are wind, solar, and hydro power. These are all sources that are in abundance and will be around for billions of years. Hydropower provides substantial amounts of electricity to the world by exploiting water, it totals about one fifth of the electricity worldwide (Renewable). While hydropower has its flaws, some environmentalists disclaim that hydropower is a widespread renewable energy source. However, this is a misconception because water is renewed in the water cycle, dams are environmentally sustainable to the ecosystem, and the only discharge from hydropower is unpolluted water. The idea of water not being renewable is preposterous. The water cycle is a process that always accounts for water. Water evaporates and goes back up as condensation and this creates clouds. Clouds then precipitate water, and the rainfall renews the water that will be used in dams. EPA, the Environmental Protection Agency, states "hydropower is considered a renewable energy resource because it uses the Earth 's water cycle to generate electricity" (Hydroelectricity). Water is regenerated and always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Renewable and Nonrewable Energy Resources Essay Renewable and Nonrewable Energy Resources Energy is used as part of everyday lives and can be used in one form or another. Energy is about doing work and it is all around us. Animals need energy to live and machines need energy to work. Energy exists in many forms, such as: – Light – Heat – Electrical – Mechanical – Atomic – Chemical–etc. There are different types of energy resources. They go into two groups, which are Non–renewable and Renewable. NON–RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES ============================== Once non–renewable resources (natural resources) are consumed they cannot be replaced. The main energy sources used by humans are non–renewable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It comes from tiny plants and animals remains that used to live in oceans over a million of years ago. As their remains built up on the ocean floor, layers of sediment were formed and gas was produced by heat and pressure. Gas is cleaned and processed after it has been taken from the ground to get rid of impurities. After this it is pumped into storage tanks and carried around the country.Natural gas really has no smell but the distinctive smell has been added as a warning of leaks.
  • 7. The advantages of gas are: – Shrinks when cooled – Turned into liquid, when put under pressure. – Easily portable in liquid form. The production platform of gas to homes: 1) Gas is pumped to processing plants on shore. 2) Sent to compressor station. 3) Into storage tanks. 4) Gas companies supply it. 5) Into peoples homes. 6) Gas metres record how much gas is used. Oil Oil is a very important fuel and is used for many mostly to make them run smoothly. Oil is used as one third of the energy we use today. There are many types and in many forms; one form is crude oil, which comes straight out of the ground. It can be used in many different ways, like: v In power stations– oil is burnt for the heat energy it can provide. v In engines– that convert heat energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Energy Resource: Petroleum and Wind Energy Essay example Have you ever wondered how Petroleum and Wind Energy is used? Well they use it for many different things. I'm trying to understand why Petroleum is being used way too much and why Wind Energy might help us use different types of alternative energy. Petroleum is a thick mixture of gases, liquid, and solids that are below the Earth's surface. (American Association of Petroleum Geologists, 2008–2012) Petroleum Jelly is another form of petroleum that is used in ointments and lotions ( Helmenstine, Ph.D., 2013) Petroleum in its natural for is called Crude Oil (N/A, 2013) Petroleum is a nonrenewable resource and takes more time to make petroleum than we use it (The Need, 2001) We Drill wells into the earth's surface to pump out petroleum. ... Obama backed down on drilling during his campaign when it goes threatened by the GOP. Since the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico you have to get new offshore drilling permits. Democrats say that they're concerned citizens with lower incomes would feel the burden of higher gas and food prices. (Berman, 2011) Since 1970, geologists, economists and industry analysts have been wondering just how long worldwide supplies will keep up with growing demand. They say that they estimated that we have about 2 trillion barrels left. Since 1998, the price of a barrel of oil had fallen to $12. The global demand for oil is currently at more than 80 million barrels per day. (msnbc.com, 2013) Wind Energy We use wind turbine so we can use the wind's energy to generate electricity. At 100 feet aboveground, they can take advantage of the faster and less turbulent wind. Farmers and ranchers in windy areas can also use wind turbines as a way to cut their electric bills. Please provide your take on this state's resources and how they are being utilized. Does the state have a plan on how to curtail pollution in the long–run? Wyoming accounts for a major percentage of coal mined all over the United States. Wyoming's Powder River Basin holds the eight largest coal mines of the United States. Wyoming obtains more than 90% of the state'sdomestic coal from Wyoming. The state is also good in the production ofnatural gas . Due to the excess usage of fuels, the people of the state are facing issues such as watery eyes, breath shortnessand bleeding noses due to the rise in the ozone levels. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality warned the people with respiratory symptoms to avoid extended outdoor activities (Reynolds, 2013). In order to overcome the problems associated with the use of resources that causes pollution, the state should employ renewable sources of energy. Wyoming has abundant renewable energy resources. 47 percent of the total energy used in the United States can be obtained from Wyoming alone (Reynolds, 2013).The state adheres to the federal standards for air pollutants that are hazardous to health. The Department of Environmental Quality of Wyoming monitors the air resources by conducting inspections to keep the atmosphere clean. First of all, I would say that the energy system is not very sustainable because it can either be sustainable, or not sustainable. The energy resources used by mankind have grown dramatically and it is affecting the environment by leaving negative impact to the environment. Not only the government sector, but also the private sectors that are aware of the environment are trying to find alternatives to sustainable development to prevent the environment from being destroyed. Three Ways of Malaysian Tourism Industry to Counter Effects of Fossil Fuels Burning To tackle the impacts of fossil fuels towards the environment and the hospitality and tourism industry, the usage of biofuels should be practice widely. Biofuels is much more environmentally friendly and it would preserve the environment because biofuels would not release any harmful gas such as sulphur and acid emissions. Biofuels are fuels that are made from plant materials. Most biofuels now are obtained from fermentation of food products, such as corn kernels and sugar cane, and vegetable oils, such as soy and oil palm. However, there was a protest in using food products to produce biofuels. It was fully supported when a kind of plant named jatropha came in. Jatropha is resistant to drought and pests, and it produces seeds that contain up to 40% oil, which can be used in a standard diesel engine and also processed into biomass to power electricity plants. The usage of biofuels is environmentally friendly because biofuels are renewable, and they can offer environmental benefits such as lower emissions of carbon and sulphur compared with petroleum–based fuels. If lower emissions are to be released by biofuels, then the environment

Why must we harm our environment to contribute to our energy production when renewable energy sources are so abundantly present so that we may be symbiotic with nature? To lessen our environmental impact and be able to avoid the high expenses of non–renewable fossil fuels in the near future it should be obvious that we start to use more renewable energy sources than we do nonrenewable resources for apparent reasons. It's the only answer, as we have already contributed to the now unstoppable melt of the glaciers in Antarctica soon to raise the sea level, according to scientist, four feet higher (Coghlan "Collapse of Antarctic Glaciers"). There are many whom say the environmentalist faction are foolish, for the renewable energy devices such as wind turbines, solar panels, or dams are too costly as opposed to cheap fossil fuels. Although it is well known that non–renewables may be cheap, they will soon start to deplete triggering a price rise in all of the available resources, such as petroleum, coal, and natural gas. In fact, it took at least five million years for the current fossil fuels, like peat or ignite coal, to be created and at the current rate through which we are using our fossil fuels they will deplete at a much more rapid rate every year (Nelder "The End Of Fossil Fuel"). (Tim Clifford, 2008) Importance of Non–renewable Energy Sources Before discussing about the disadvantages of non–renewable sources of energy let's look on some important uses of them. According to Richards (as cited in Fossil Fuels, 2004), fossil fuels are the most common fuels used from a long time since they were discovered. Everything that involves transportation is utilizing fossils fuels in some or the other way. Coal, the other most common form of non–renewable energy source is used to produce electricity. Moreover coal is also used to refine metals. Natural gas, which is the result of decomposing plants and animals, is mainly used in home for cooking. Nuclear fuels also come under non–renewable sources but they are cleanest of all of them. They are used when large amount of energy has to be extracted. Coal, oil and natural gas, which come under natural resources, took millions of years to form. Therefore, it is impossible to replace them once we consume them. The main energy sources used by humans are non–renewable; renewable resources, such as solar, tidal, wind, and geothermal power, have so far been less exploited. When the term nuclear power or nuclear energy comes into conversations, often the first thoughts that come to mind are bombs, destruction, radioactive waste, and war. However, these four things occur the least in the nuclear power field. It is far more than just mass destruction and devastation, nuclear power is used to create electricity in a safe and eco–friendly manor. People have a high level of concern about the use of nuclear energy especially after past devastations such as Chernobyl or Fukushima. Even with these accidents, society should not oppose the use of nuclear energy because of advancements in technology, it has become a very environmentally friendly and cost efficient energy source. First, proponents of nuclear energy maintain that many safety issues are solved using newer reactor technologies, reducing the likelihood of accidents. Safety precautions increased dramatically in nuclear reactors preventing future meltdowns like Chernobyl or Fukushima. Many conclude that these technologies make nuclear reactors safer than coal burning plants. New reactor designs incorporate passive safety features which require no active controls or operational intervention to avoid accidents in the event of malfunction. These features may rely on gravity, natural convection and or resistance to high temperature to prevent a meltdown. During simpler times all the energy required for living was obtained through food and fire. However, as humans developed and created new technologies a different type of energy was required. Thus, the first coal powered machines were created such as the steam engine. Over time technology kept improving and became more complex; as a result, the energy needed to power the world increased, but little changed in how it was obtained. The way energy is produced to power the lives on earth has, for the most part, gone unchanged; burning coal. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, coal, or fossil fuels as it is regularly called, supplied approximately 75% of the energy used in the United States in 2014 ("10. However, with the realization that fossil fuels will someday run out and evidence of its contribution to climate change; a large majority of scientists believe fossil fuels cannot remain the main contributor of energy for the future. The problem is so dire that Mark A. Delucchi, a research scientist at the University of California, and Mark Z. Lately, there has been many concerns with the various types of resources that are used to generate energy. Many resources that are used are non–renewable resource. This means that the resources such as oil and coal are not grown or produced, they are found in regions in specific sections of the world. These resources are also recognized as fossil fuels. Researchers have been working for numerous years to find new ways to generate energy without using these resources that cause issues for the environment. By using renewable sources such as the sun, new ways to create energy have developed. Solar energy is energy that is created by the sunshine. This sort of energy that derives from the sun can create electricity in households. With new emerging technology, solar energy can perform different types of energy for diverse uses such as heating water or generate electricity for a home. This alternative energy that goes beyond fossil fuels can be extremely beneficial for the environment; However, there might be some downfalls for a consumer if they needed to use solar energy to provide electricity. Water is essential for all communities: primitive and developed. The higher the development level, the greater the water demand. In water scarce countries, implementation of tools that optimize allocation of water among the competing demands is essential to make the best use of the available resources. In addition to water, energy is another resource essential and basic for human existence and survival on earth, though to a lesser degree than water. I think we need to become better educated and make knowledgeable decisions in how we use our energy and at what rate in which we use it. The brutal truth of the matter is that our resources of energy we are using are not going to last forever. In the United States we consumed 94,231 trillion Btu during 1997. The state of New York alone used 4.24% of that total energy, or about 4,000 trillion Btu of energy ("How much?", Internet). We need to move away from the excessive use of energy, especially energy generated from fossil fuels. The main problem with fossil fuels is not that they are running ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Main Energy Goals: In the beginning of every good plan, you have goals, something to work towards. In my energy plan I work towards four main goals. The first goal that my energy plan contains is efficiency measures; one example being is the increase of fuel efficiency. This can be done by raising the miles per gallon standards, or encourage design models for cars that are more efficient in gasoline use. Another efficiency measure is the introduction of efficiency procedures people can take. Some examples: if they installed energy–efficient technologies, such as compact florescent light bulbs and efficient appliances. One other method is to provide tax incentives for efficient new buildings and equipment. If the government offered tax credits for the use of efficient equipment and building designs, this would bring immediate results in energy efficiency. One of the last ways I would like to introduce efficiency is by strengthening energy–efficient standards on appliances and residential living. The second of my four energy goals engages renewable energy. Wind power, when appropriately sited, can generate and provide massive amounts of clean energy. This would be beneficial to the decrease offossil fuel use. Another source like, solar energy, can be implemented just about anywhere. It is so abundant that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In doing so, a comprehensive stochastic mathematical model is developed which incorporates a set of valid probable scenarios for the uncertainties of load and irregularity in wind and solar generation sources. The uncertainty is addressed through a combination of a stochastic optimization model and additional reserve requirements. The model also includes hourly interruption costs for a variety of customer types as a means of determining the optimal stochastic interruptible load whose reliability–based value is very low to enable it to be shed if necessary. A study is carried out using a benchmark micro grid; numerical results demonstrate that coordinated operation of DERs brings prominent benefits in terms of expected operation costs and system security. • 34. The Energy Industry And Its Human Resource Crisis The Energy Industry and Its Human Resource Crisis Addressing the Talent Gap S. Monique Thomas University of Mary Abstract In the energy industry a crisis is on the horizon. The increase in demand for electricity and natural gas, the aging workforce and demographics, all play a role in the increased need to have talented and skilled employees. There is a talent crisis and it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and maintain talented people. Even with a turbulent economy, today's energy industry economics still remains driven with new technologies from wind and solar. Organizations are now recognizing the importance and the value in attracting and retaining the best and brightest employees. Energy companies in particular are... The increased demand for clean and efficient energy sources only aggravates the problem. This leaves the nation's utilities with a major and immediate obstacle. There is also an incredible lack of qualified replacement workers, and this shortage will be seen across all sectors of the energy industry to include electric, hydro, wind, nuclear, fossil, and gas. In order to gain or keep a competitive advantage the energy industry must tackle the shortage by developing a plan to address succession, talent management, and education. The future of the energy industry, with all the new Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) regulations and the deregulation of natural gas and electricity has opened up the industry to competition. Thereby, creating jobs that are original, innovative and directly creating skilled and highly paying jobs. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has predicted an increase in the energy industry growth (2013). That growth will produce more jobs, however, the number of skilled professionals joining the field of energy has not increased. There has been secession because the baby boomers are retiring. This shift reflects two trends: In the future energy companies will be looking to expand their workforce at a time when the number of employable people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Use Of Nonrenewable Resources On Energy Consumption Within the next several hundred years, scientists predict planet Earth will meet its demise if humans fail to change their methods of energy consumption (Stehr). Right now, 192 out of 195 countries are using nonrenewable resources as their main source of energy (Shahan). The problem with this is that coal and oil are nonrenewable resources meaning once they are gone, they do not get replenished. These fossil fuels also emit high concentrations of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere when burned and expended. Not only does this fuel global warming and its consequences, but greenhouse gases also pose as a health hazard to humans everywhere. The most common type of harmful greenhouse gas is smog. With people regularly working at factories, operating motor vehicles, and using hairspray, smog is continuously added into the atmosphere and further deterring the health of humans. Smog threatens the lives of people all over the world ranging from China to London to right here in the United States of America (Causes and Effects of Smog). Greenhouse gases does not only impair human life, it also deters life in the oceans. Scientists correlate the increased amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with the increased acidity of Earth's ocean waters. When carbon dioxide is absorbed into ocean water, carbonic acid is created. As the name implies, carbonic acid is considerably acidic with a pH level of 2. This impedes marine life because many shell–fish organisms, clams, lobsters, shrimp, and crabs, have their shells made of calcium carbonate. In acidic environments, calcium carbonate is very susceptible to deteriorating and dissolving. This is dangerous for the oceanic organisms because these high levels of acidity can cause defections, mutations, or even species extinction (Bradford). With the bundles of problems bestowed from burning nonrenewable resources and global warming, it is obvious that humans must make a change in order to save planet Earth. Greenhouse gases affects every living organism on land and in the oceans. Ninety seven percent of scientists attribute the constantly growing volume ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Renewable Resources For Renewable Energy Introduction In the most basic definition, energy is power that is harnessed from physical or chemical resources, often utilized in order to produced light, heat or fuel. It can be extracted from various renewable or non–renewable sources and has become a necessity for day to day life. Currently non–reusable resources account for the majority of energy production. The prominence of fossil fuels in the energy sector validates this claim. At the same time this statement reveals a major world issue in regards to energy sustainability. Although they may able to produce copious amounts of energy, non –renewable resources cannot renew themselves on the timescale required by current energy consumption. With this in mind, non–renewable resource depletion is inevitable without sustainable energy alternatives for future generations. At this point it is important to recognize the difficulty of this task given the ever increasing energy consumption associated with exponential population growth. Amongst all nations, Canada is near the forefront ofrenewable energy; the country is the fourth largest producer of renewable electrical energy despite its 8th place standing in energy consumption. This is undoubtable due to the abundance of natural resources in its geographical location. Currently 17% of total energy production is derived from renewable resources, despite the sector not being fully developed. • 39. Renewable Energy Resources? Renewable Energy Resources? In our society today many individuals don't realize the overall problems with pollution in our water sources, soil, and air particles. Renewable energy is defined as energy that comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat. One of the first ancestor to discover renewable energy was the Egyptians. They gathered the energy from wind to help navigate their boats along the Nile River. Even today we still use some of the techniques that our ancestors invented thousands of years ago. One event that caused renewable energy to fall was after World War II. It was not until the 1970's where renewable energy became more popular. There is numerous amount of other renewable resources that are still being utilized today. Without electric powered automobiles, companies couldn't accomplish high MPG ratings, also for generations individuals have been tapping into geothermal areas, to heat their homes. The amount of renewable energy that is created per year is only about 15%, whereas coal makes up 65%. If America would spend more time, research, and money on renewable energy like wind, solar, and geothermal heat, it would reduce pollution waste drastically. Further more, If states would make incentives to decrease power bill % for individuals who have installed solar panels, or wind turbines, the united states would see quicker results. For example, when natural gas burns the combustion leaves almost no sulfur dioxide emissions in the air and all other emissions are far less than other fossil fuels. The reduction of these toxic emissions will help us reduce two of the main air pollution issues we face today –– acid rain and carbon monoxide ozone pollution. There is one area that will make natural gas become a dominant source of energy due to its cleanliness and that is in the field of transportation. If we can make all cars and vehicles natural gas fueled then there will be a huge change in the amount of pollution that gas fueled vehicles put in the air today. For example, about three–fourths of the carbon monoxide pollution found in the city areas is contributed my gas fueled cars, as well as a significant amount hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emissions. It has been found that if we were to use natural gas instead of gasoline the carbon monoxide emissions can be cut down about ninety percent and the hydrocarbon emissions by almost eighty–five percent. This is an amazing amount of pollution reduction would make a huge change in the cleanliness of our air. • 42. Energy Resources And Nonrenewable Resources Despite only being around for around two hundred thousand years, humanity has accomplished many great tasks. Humans have been able to conquer most of the land on Earth. They have been able to find ways to travel across huge landscapes in a matter of hours. They have developed ways to grow and harvest their own food through agriculture. Humans even were able to send people into space. Despite these accomplishments, they have all come at a great cost. Humans had to deforest many areas in order to be able to live in those places. Almost all of the modern transportation relies on the nonrenewable resource that is fossil fuels. As the population has grown, bigger farms were made that consume loads of water. Due to these costs, the greatest threat to human sustainability is our reliance on nonrenewable energy and resources. In order to shift from this path, humanity must continue to move away from nonrenewable energy and develop renewable energy, and convince businesses that this path is profitable. In the current system, the greatest threat to the survival of humanity is the over reliance on nonrenewable energy resources. What generally comes to mind with nonrenewable resources is fossil fuels, however trees and water can also be applied in this situation. When the topic is about deforestation, some would argue that trees can grow back making them a renewable resource. However, at the rate people are cutting them, the trees do not have enough time to grow back. Sometimes trees ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, dams are incredibly expensive to build, and can cause flooding of land, which entails the destruction of the natural environment and habitat of animals, and people alike. Finally, hydropower depends heavily on high levels of precipitation that one has no control over, making hydropower very unreliable. Nuclear power: Nuclear plants are expensive to build with continuous production of nuclear waste that increases the risk of radioactive accidents, such as the incident at Chernobyl in 1986, from whose repercussions the inhabitants of the region are still suffering. Moreover, nuclear waste can remain hazardous for tens of thousands of years. Finally, the mining of uranium (which itself is scarce) contaminates the surrounding area, implying that it causes damage even before it is used in the plant. Alternatives for the future: Among possible alternatives for future electricity production, the following are most viable today: solar, wind, and biogas energy– all of which are renewable, and well suited to the conditions in Switzerland.
