National AMBIS is a multi-modal biometric identification system being developed by the National Crime Records Bureau of India to incorporate fingerprint, face, iris, and palm modalities. It aims to have more capabilities than traditional fingerprint-based systems, reduce costs through integration of multiple biometrics, and increase identification accuracy. The system will be aligned with standards of the Unique Identification Authority of India to build a national resident database.
