How Does Plato Attribute To The Cosmos
What properties does Plato attribute to the Cosmos, and why does it have these properties? The properties of the cosmos, according to Plato, are the

receptacle was that which contained the universe, for without it, the universe would proceed into chaos. The receptacle provides the boundaries

Black Sacred Cosmos Research Paper
The Black Sacred Cosmos was developed through the conjoining of the African traditional past with Western Christianity. It explains the influence of
the Middle Passage, and the efforts of enslavers to force assimilation of the Africans to Western religious beliefs and cultural practices. Traditional
African religions encompassed all portions of life; believers found something sacred in their daily experiences. Modern day black religions encompass
life as well, but there are certain days like Sunday, or Saturday in the Adventist church, where we may dedicate more time toGod. Traditional religions
were tied to family lines, from birth to death. The religion that one's maternal or paternal family practiced, was passed down from generation to
generation; there was no acceptance of faith like Christianity. There was a strong sense of community, where the gods and goddesses were responsible
for the wellbeing of the Africans, while the Africans as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is believed that during that journey, something was spiritually awoken in those Africans. This caused them to refine their African religious practices
as the reached South & Central America, as well as the Caribbean. This journey also allowed them to become more spiritual in Christianity;
Protestantism in North America and Catholicism in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Once the Africans reached South and Central
America, there was greater leniency with the religions they practiced, due to there being more slaves than enslavers. This allowed them to choose to
practice their own religion or convert to Catholicism. In North America, there were more enslavers than the enslaved, so African traditional practices
were scarce. Until the African were seen as bodiless souls, they were not introduced to Christianity; being seen at the level of animals before the Great

Heraclitus Logos : The Divine Law Of The Cosmos
Heraclitus' central philosophy concerns itself with paradoxical relationships that act in accordance with one another to form the nature of the cosmos.
The logos', as Heraclitus understands it to be, refers to both the "divine law of the cosmos" through which all relationships within nature are governed
by and man's quest to understand and adopt the logos as a way of living (Reeve & Miller, 9). The term itself has a number of definitions such as,
"law", "account", and "reason", all of which give different meanings when framing the idea of the logos within Heraclitus' interpretation of the
cosmos. Although Heraclitus believes that the "logos is common" and therefore should be a concept that individuals should constantly strive to
understand and adopt; he goes on to explain that the reason for mankind's struggle to understand the logos is a result of individuals choosing to
"live as if they had their own private understanding" of the logos and its relation to the cosmos (Reeve & Miller, 10). This private understanding of
the logos held by humanity can be attributed to our weak senses which prevents us from grasping the logos and as a result "are bad witnesses [to
those who have barbarian souls]" (Reeve & Miller 10). Regarding the "barbarian soul", aside from its classic historical meaning, most likely points
towards those considered to be uncivilized. This characteristic of being uncivilized serves as the barrier between not understanding and understanding
the logos. Those

First Episode Of Cosmos
In the first episode of Cosmos, Neil deGrasse Tyson describes the human race as a baby in a basket left at somebody's doorstep without a note. He
later goes on to say how the human race was gifted our sense of pattern recognition, passed down to us by our ancestors. This sense was essential to
our survival, as our ancestors used the stars that would tell them when seasons would be coming and when they should set up camp or leave. They
also noticed comets in the night sky and almost every ancient civilization thought that comets foretold disaster. However, a boy named Edmond
Halley witnessed a comet in 1664 and was more fascinated than afraid. At 20 years old Halley sailed to an island near West Africa to draw the first star

Wonder Woman job, right.? Well, guess what, Cosmopolitan magazine has done the work for you. The magazine claims they found 20 nonverbal
cues that every man will eventually signal, like if he was a car turning to the left, to show they are head over heels for a woman. The best part
about this, is a man are most of the time not aware of portraying those behaviors, making it easy for any girl to see if her man does any of all of
them. So, let's get to work and figure out our man's "before he opens his mouth" as the article quotes. What are the 20 nonverbal behaviors is Cosmo

Cosmos Of Fire
The reflection of the uncreated in the created necessarily presents itself under diverse aspects, and even under an indefinite variety of aspects, each of
which has about it something whole and total, so that there are a multiplicity of visions of the cosmos, all equally possible and legitimate in so far as
they spring from the universal and immutable principles. Titus Burkhardt. To every shield, there is another side, hidden. A. N. Whitehead. In the
Hesiodic account of the world–ages, preserved in the ancient writing known to us as the Works and Days, the poet briefly describes the age of the

The everliving fire centered in itself beyond all worlds lies at the heart of all worlds from it flow all movement, all life, all knowledge. It is the
Eternal: "that which never sets", that which at the end of each world–age destroys the old and kindles the new. It may be truthfully called by other
names such as Zeus, justice, wisdom, logos. It is both willing and unwilling to be so called. Willing in that such names reflect qualities in its nature:
unwilling in that in essence it lies beyond all such qualities. This divine fire forges into existence the structured cosmos. The cosmos is imaged by the
Homeric warrior to himself as a sphere. Across the horizontal diametrical plane stretches the flat disc of the earth encircled by the vast streams of
Oceanus–ever flowing back into itself. The earth is covered by the inverted bowl of the overworld –a bronze[1] dome across which the sun, moon, and
stars move in their risings out of Oceanus in the east, to their settings into Oceanus in the west. Earth rests on the under–world of Erebos and Hades
rooted at its greatest depth in the gulfs of Tartarus. About the upper hemisphere of the overworld glitters the threefold light of the Empyrean. The
brazen walls of Tartarus are enclosed by threefold darkening layers of night. The cosmic sphere is held in an outer wheel of darkness and light which
in its rotations reflects into the cosmos the

Cosmos In Thornton Wilder's Our Town
Thornton Wilder's Our Town usually shows moments where the audience is connected to the cosmos and then back to earth. Due to Wilder's history it
is not surprising that he wants to connect to the cosmos. Throughout Wilder's play time becomes something people lose track of, including the Stage
Manager. Wilder goes into detail about how easy it is to take thetime someone has on the planet for granted. The characters who are deceased talk
about how the living don't pay attention to their lives during their time on earth. Time is a theme throughout especially in the end when Emily herself
realizes that she hasn't had enough time. One distinct way Wilder shows the importance of time was using his characters, particularly the Stage

Cosmogony : The Creation Of The Norse Creation Myth
The Norse creation myth, also known as cosmogony, is considered one of the best accounts of such literature in the world. Initially, there was only a
cavernous gorge which was known as Ginnungagap with no soil, sky, nor vegetation. Two homelands existed which were Muspelheim and Niflheim.
Niflheim was full of elemental ice while the other was the exact opposite having the elemental fire. Fire flames from Muspelheim blew towards
Ginnungagap where it met ice from Niflheim causing it to melt. The drops formed a giant god named Ymir, one of many to come. Ymir could
reproduce since it was a hermaphrodite and could asexually reproduce, creating more giants (McCoy, Daniel). Through this process, the first woman
and man were created named Embla and Ask who were formed from tree trunks. The two created a fence name Midgard to keep them away from the
other giants who could harm them (McCoy, Daniel). Consequently, cycle of the cosmos originated. Norse creation mythology is full of dark chaos,
murder, and transition. A major cultural belief in Norse myth is that creation cannot happen without any outside influences. It can be noted that life
depends on what has already died, and "new life feeds on death" (McCoy, Daniel). It is one of the fundamental principles in life where you have to
give in order to get something in return, and this cultural principle of life is noteworthy in the Norse creation myth. The people believe that the creation
of the universe was not out of

Exploration Of The Cosmos Shakes
Space – that 's all there is that ever was and ever will be. One contemplation of the cosmos shakes: shiver runs down the back, catches the throat, and
there is a feeling weak, like a vague memory, if you fall from a height. We recognize that touch the greatest of mysteries.
But the development of something unknown at the time held a sufficient amount of time. And this long journey that opens the way for us to perfect
contemplation of the cosmos and its component parts, is really considered one of the truly deserving "feats" of humanity.
Man and the Cosmos can not exist separately. They have always been the two particles of one whole, the unknown, unexplored, new.

Exit man in space has its ideological background, leaving back centuries, and technological background, which lasted several decades.
On what grounds man became a sentient being and thus separated from the animal world?
The man in the social and employment created around himself a habitat that did not exist naturally in the nature of the Earth.
In fact, as early mastery of fire and clothing from animal skins were the first means by which man began to create themselves a stable artificial
microenvironment that protects it from temperature changes and seasonal changes. The transition from hunting and gathering to animal husbandry,
farming and craft guarantee the stability of obtaining food. Modern apartments, food and light industry, in principle, it is the same activity on the
formation of the environment. Then it was the Neolithic Revolution, which began about six thousand years ago, the essence of which just consisted in
replacing the consumption of finished goods and the nature of their conditions of production.
But if a person surrounds himself microenvironment, radically different from the natural macro planet Earth, then, strictly speaking, he had already
become "astronauts", although it does not leave the planet. Thus do that ever since the Neolithic man acquired the ability for autonomy in relation to
the Earth. However, this ability now has led to the fact that

Cosmos Chapter 1:The Shores of the Cosmic Ocean
"The Cosmos is all that ever is, was or will be." Cosmos has scarcely started before Sagan uncovers some of his identity. What does this announcement
mean? On the off chance that "the universe" incorporates each comprehensible substance, for instance, God, then the announcement is insignificantly
genuine. That would it say it is', actual, however so what? We don't learn anything we didn't know. The announcement is a tautology: "everything there
is everything there is." Sagan most likely signifies "the material universe is all that ever was, is, or will be", an announcement that numerous
individuals, obviously, dismiss.

Society Reflection Paper
Now that the different facets of the multiverse theory have been explained, what about society's reaction? My hypothesis is that society will freak out
and eventually progress into a nihilistic and existential society. Inevitably, there will also be individuals who react differently. I believe society's
reaction will mirror that of what happened when Charles Darwin proposed his theory of evolution. Because society went haywire when their view of
the world was changed, no doubt society will react in a similar way because their view of the entire universe itself would change. A majority of the
population sees our universe as a singular entity that exists on its own. Outside of our universe, there is nothing, since everything we know of is
contained within the universe. But the multiverse theory claims that other universes exist outside of our own. Those universes contain other versions
of ourselves in different contexts, different jobs, different socioeconomic levels, and with different passions. Right after Charles Darwin's theory of
evolution was published, it was read and reviewed by people of different religions, interests, and professions. Many of its first readers were appalled.
John Leifchild writes in the Athenaeum, "Man, in [Darwin's] view, was born yesterday–he will perish tomorrow. In place of being immortal, we are
only temporary, and, as it were, incidental" (Leifchild). He did not agree with the fact that humanity at the time could change, or has ever changed.

Cosmos Summary
Cosmos Carl Sagan was born in 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the University of Chicago and studied planets and other elements of
space. He was named director of Cornell's Laboratory for Planetary Studies in 1968, and worked with NASA with choosing where the Viking probes
would touch down on Mars. He wrote Cosmos in 1980 as a way of explaining his ideas to the world and furthering the points made in his television
series, also called Cosmos. Cosmos begins out with the Cosmos themselves, and how they came to be discovered by humans living on Earth.
Sagan explains how he once worked at a genetics lab, breeding fruit flies to see how their traits were passed down. He relates it to the evolution of
DNA, and how evolution might very well be unique to Earth. When he talks about the coevolution of plants and animals, he explains how oxygen
made from plants "makes organic molecules fall to pieces" He says, "Despite our fondness for it, it is fundamentally a poison for unprotected organic
matter" (Sagan 29). I thought this was interesting because oxygen is essential for every living thing on Earth. It's what gives us life, but yet at the
same time it is slowly killing us. Next up, Sagan talks about astrology vs. astronomy. Personally, I was not sure that there was a difference between the
two before reading this book. I had always thought that astrology was a subgroup of astronomy. But, I now understand the difference. Sagan gives a

societies. Nonetheless, when looking to the past one can see that mankind's desire to associate itself with the sacred has been occuring for thousands of
years. From temples to passages of intiation, religious man is a unique microcosm that follows and repeats the structure of the religious macrocosm, the

The participation in these events and overall repetition enforces the religious content and provides an optimistic vision of existence and eventual
transcendence for the participant. It provides a break from a temporal and profane duration of time and into a sacred time of importance and meaning
for a religion and its followers. Religious experience then would fall into the personal realm of man himself and how he perceives the world around
him. Nature provides a chief component in primitive religious man's view of the cosmos and his gods. The sky houses the gods, remote although it
may be, natural phenomenon such as thunder and rain gave primitive and early religious man the reasoning to place his gods above him in the
intangible heavens as such natural occurrences were due in part to the supernatural beings dwelling in the skies. Alongside the sky, the observation of
the transition of the moon and sun (night and day) signify death and rebirth. Water too plays a symbolic part in human experience and although it has
a powerful capability to destroy life, it also reiterates the cosmogonic cycle, especially with the practice of baptism where water renews life. (p132)
Earth itself is also linked to the human experience of child birth with females. The idea of a "Terra Mater" or mother earth (p138) symbolizes the idea
of the earth reproducing its vegetation–based life in comparison to the experience of mother giving birth of her children.

EMR can tell us about the universe by using it on stars and (dwarf) planets, including Makemake, to see their distances, characteristics, and formations.
According to "Cool Cosmo Readings", astronomers used kinds of EMR waves to prove that the universe has expanded. When the EMR takes effect in
the formation on the Earth, we can actually see how the universe expands thanks to the EMR with specific frequency that makes us see space. The
astronomers have to use EMR waves to see the universe because of the wavelengths and amplitude. If they didn't have any EMR, they can't know how

Comparison Of Cosmos And The Scientific Theory Of Creation
A problem I have thought of for a long time and might want to solve one day is how the bible and the scientific theory of the creation of the
universe do not match up. All I have really done is read over Genesis a couple of times and watched a few documentaries like Cosmos, but I do have a
basic theory worked out. First of all, the bible is not literal. There is probably someone who was known as Jesus which I believe had great influence
over the people back then. There might not be a God, but I lean towards the idea that there is, and the universe was not made in 7 days, at least not 7
earth days. To god, an earth day may be a couple of milliseconds. Cosmos describes a calendar with all of time since the beginning of the universe
stuffed into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, the age of mammals has arrived. "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds:the livestock, the creatures that move along
the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind." (Gen 1.24) The rest of the wild animals we see today are created over time. This
step describes how all the life began to evolve and diversifying as God made each species unique. Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our
image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over
all the creatures that move along the ground." We the humans were made. There was not any lie either when it stated man will rule over livestock
and wild animals as that is what the people are doing today. "In god's image" I believe just means that we have the power to change the world just
like god. If it is true then it would not be going against the chance that there are aliens on other planets. The bible describes that on every planet with
life, eventually one will rise up to become the ruler of it all as humans have become for the earth. Expandable
Finally, the last day was about god resting. He rested and we did not see many of his actions any longer. There might have been a few changes, but
god does not do the big things he did when the universe started any more. He only makes small changes now, miracles every now and then. The only
big thing might be the description of Jesus coming down to earth as it does take up its own testament. However as god rests, there is less evidence of
his power in the universe, and therefore, almost no one has truly seen

primarily so because the income levels of women in Essence is double the amount of those in Cosmo, which means that the targeted audience is a big
age difference. In the table, it can be seen that their sexuality is different in both magazines. Essence conveys an approach that is more of a feminist
saying that women can be independent and they don't need to have man. It also advises women to not stay in relationship where your partner isn't
faithful. Meanwhile, in Cosmo, women are advised to be the complete opposite. While Essence does not accept infidelities, Cosmo advices women to

The Gift By Marcel Mauss: Orientation To The Cosmos
Before I answer the first question regarding "orientation to the cosmos" and how Mauss' theories on the exchange of gifts affect human
relationships, I would like to start off by giving a quick recap of what orientation to the cosmos is first. In class, we learned that that cosmos refers to
the universe as being an orderly yet complex system of things that define the lives of every human being inhabiting the Earth. It is the direct opposite
to chaos. Orientation, in a religious context, alludes to the act of embracing one's rightful place and purpose in our cosmos. Now that I've defined the
question, I'd like to obviously answer it. Solely based on the first chapter of "The Gift" by Marcel Mauss, the seemingly voluntary acceptance and
exchanging of gifts between humans goes much deeper than a simple Secret Santa gift.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These tribes essentially saw gifts as presenting the soul and embodiment of oneself to another person, and the recipient of the gift is expected to
accept and reciprocate the gift, with harsh spiritual and moral punishments if done otherwise. Mauss also argues that gifts and the act of gift giving are
basically a method of pleasing higher spirits who truly own everything on Earth, therefore sharing wealth and resources with one another rather than

between men incite the spirits of the dead, the gods, things, animals, and nature to be 'generous to them'" (Mauss 14) . In other words, gift giving

Analysis Of Crossing The Swamp By Mary Oliver
The very core of development is change. Sometimes bad, sometimes good, change always leads to a shift in personality. "Crossing the Swamp" by
Mary Oliver is a journey of escape as the speaker, who is in a struggle to improve herself, is desperately fighting to come to a place of salvation. The
speaker has a relationship of fear and animosity towards the swamp, being a metaphor for the very thing weighing her down, which is equivalent to the
relationship of fear and animosity that she has towards the elements in her life that are keeping her from self growth, and is exemplified through her
precise diction.
By using the swamp as a metaphor, the speaker is able to physically represent something in her life that is preventing her from being the person she
aspires. Comparing it to an "Endless,/ wet thick/ cosmos," implies that the swamp is something more than just a swamp (Oliver 1–3). The use of the
word cosmos instead of saying the actual word swamp means that the swamp is being used as something beyond its basic definition. Cosmos is a
word typically associated with an endless expanse of space, leading one to believe that the swamp is a concept rather than a physical wetland. When
the speaker says, "Here/ is swamp, here/ is struggle," she contributes again to this idea that there is more than what seems (Oliver 9–10). The transition
from the speaker sinking, to the speaker dreaming of escape further indicate that she does, in fact, hate the swamp for keeping her down and fear
that it will keep her down forever. She intends to turn her swamp into "a breathing/ palace of leaves," transforming her life from a negative place to a
place in which she is the best version of herself (Oliver 35–36). A "breathing palace" represents a shimmering castle of life. Because it is a transition
from being pulled down to attempting to lift herself, one can assume that she is connected to the swamp in a negative way.
The speaker also chooses her diction precisely, so that there is clear contribution to the overall idea that the poem is indeed about the quest for change
and longing from escape from the swamp. Two very different forms of description are used to represent this source of dread: once by the simple name,
swamp, and

The Balance Of Chaos And Cosmos
The thought of the early Greeks demonstrates the overall balance of chaos and cosmos in our universe. This is expressed with many of the
Pre–Socratic philosophers. When viewing the early Greeks, we can see many different expressions of chaos and cosmos in the universe. These
views, or logos, range from terrible evils, such as Nyx's tilting from cosmos to chaos in Hesiod's world view, to greater goods, such as Anaximander's
argument of natural order. This is not to say that they are complete in the idea of rationalism, but together, they can create a stronger standing of the
balance in the universe. When it comes to defining what balance in the universe is, there are several aspects to consider. First, one must understand
what chaos, cosmos, and logos are. Chaos is defined as disorder; cosmos is defined as order; logos is defined and a human view of the world and
what they consider to be order. Hesiod uses these in his poem, Theogony, to describe the origins of the Greek gods. He uses "chaos" and "cosmos" in
a different way throughout his poem. Chaos being a god, and cosmos being the universe. This can become tricky when trying to determine where
chaos, cosmos, and logos of philosophy are located. There was cosmos expressed when Nyx, the goddess of night, and her daughter Hemera, who is
the goddess of light, go through a cycle of one going into the house, and the other coming out. "[W]here Night and Day greet each other. As they pass

A Comparison Of Creation In Genesis 1
The Bible has two accounts of creation the first centeres in Genesis 1, which is a very linear 7–day timeline. Compared to the second creation story in
Genesis 2, which is a much more literary focused story, with characters that possess story arcs that can be interpreted. God comes alive in this story
and there are themes and motifs that are being wrestled with by the writer and reader. Similarly, the story of the Enuma Elish follows a story filled
with characters and results is the creation of humans as a byproduct of the Gods struggles. In Genesis 1:1– 2.4a the witting style possess a very linear
feel to God's creation of the known world. God starts on day 1 and continues to create till day 6, then he rests on day 7. This linear approach gives
the story a complete feeling with a start and an end presented to the reader, it leaves some questions, but the interpretation is quite cut and dry or
"mythological." (class notes) Haur and Young say that "the days are numbered like the scenes of a drama"(Hauer and Young 50) Gen , gives us a
drama that focuses on a setting created for humans to conquer and use for our own ends. In Genesis 1, God is given a very omniscient, all powerful
and divine characteristics. He is controlling everything, which is occurring in these 6 days of creation and him alone. God is instructing all living and
nonliving things how to organize and is creating this world for humans. The order of creation starts with light and end with humans. This quick

Cosmos, Balance And Order In Ancient China
The ancient chinese believed that the cosmos had a greater logic as well as order. This concept of the cosmos lies at the heart of chinese culture which
shows why the concept dealing with the cosmos is important. Foundations to the chinese beliefs within the concept of the cosmos, balance, and order
are important to the chapter due to the chinese culture being highly influenced by their beliefs about the world. The idea of order comes from balance
within the chinese culture. When things seem to be out of balance diviners might use their ability to reliably predict the future and in turn say that the
universe will right itself. Another important concept is the yin–yang symbol. This helps apply to the world view of the chinese due to their influence ...

One example of the art that was influenced is the bronze casting. The idea of yin and yang is present in this because a negative space shape is filled
with the positive shape of the molten metal. The yin and yang symbols represent both a light and dark aka positive and negative shapes that fit together.
One without the other would be incomplete and this is clearly seen in the bronze casting technique of the chinese. An example of the art that is
produced from this technique is called the guang or ritual wine vessel. Another important concept within the chapter is the influence of daoism and Chu
spirituality on Chinese culture. The idea of spirituality, that is free, exotic, and full of worshipping ghosts and spirits through shamans and priests was
exhibited in the Chu spirituality. Although the concept of daoism and confucian logic were starkly different from the Chu beliefs they still all had an
impact on the development of the culture. The daoist belief of restraint, simplicity in life, and achieving enlightenment through such simplicity and self
control also contributed to the Chinese

Cosmos In Matthew Quick's 'Boy 21'
In Boy 21, author Matthew Quick uses the symbol of the cosmos to symbolize the death of Boy 21's (russ) parents. Boy 21 is a story about three
high school seniors whose lives are brought together through basketball. Finley and his girlfriend, Erin, use basketball to escape their racially
segregated, drug dealing neighborhood. The coach of the local high school asks Finley to become friends with Russ, a former basketball prodigy.
Russ's parents passed away and is now living with his grandparents in the town of Bellmont. He is so traumatized by the events that he has developed
an alternate identity (Boy21) to help get him through his parents death and has refuses to pick up a basketball. Finley and Boy 21 help each other in
their own unique ways and become friends. The book hits a big turning point when Finley's girlfriend is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Finely entered Boy 21's room, he was very surprised of the atmosphere of Boy 21's room. At this moment he just met Boy 21 and was
surprised. Boy 21 was talking really weirdly about the cosmos. "My name is Boy 21. I'm a prototype. A test model. I was sent to your planet
temporarily to gather scientific information on what you Earthlings know as emotions. I will only be here for a few more months" (pg 39). This quote
at first might seem bizarre, but because of the death of his parents this may mean something else. When he mentions space, it might mean the heavens.
This may have different meanings but I think that it means that Boy 21 might commit suicide soon. Since Boy 21 refuses to play basketball anymore
or do anything fun, I think he is depressed. He also says that he is a prototype which might mean that Boy 21 thinks that he is not good enough. Some
might say that this statement is a little harsh but, when he says he is only going to be on Earth temporarily, it might mean he is going to attempt

Cosmos Beyond The Exoplanetary System
Introduction Over the last two decades, the study of exoplanetary systems has become a very active field that will grow continuously in the coming
years as technology has made it possible to actually observe the Cosmos beyond the Solar System. The simple definition of an exoplanet, also called
extrasolar planet, is any planetary body that orbits a star outside of our solar system (Encyclopedia Britannica). In a Scientific manner, an official
definition of exoplanets may be at this point unjustified since the situation is still evolving and that any definitive definition is likely to be too rigid
to adapt to new discoveries (Schnieder et al. 2011). Prior to the 1990's, it was not possible to detect planets with certainty beyond our Solar System due
to lack of technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1992, radio astronomer Aleksander Wolszczan documented the first detection of planets found outside our solar system orbiting a pulsar named
PSR B1257+12. Using the Arecibo Radio Telescope located in Puetro Rico, Wolszczan studied the time of arrivals of a series of pulses radiated from
the pulsar to discover these three Earth–sized planets (NASA –Extreme Planets). In 1995, scientists Michel Moyer and Didier Quelez at the Geneva
Observatory used the Doppler technique to detect the first generally accepted exoplanet orbiting a star

Mesoamerican Cosmo Vision Analysis
Characteristic of Mesoamerican Cosmo Vision
As a part of the early Toltec heritage the characteristic of Mesoamerican about the Cosmo Vision was opened by the indigenous people called "The
Nahuas", they introduce the cosmogonic explanation of the universe and its natural phenomenon. Some of the cosmological myths of the Nahuas,
include the "Eternal fire of Heraclitus, the Unmoved Mover of Aristotle and Thales belief that everything is supplied by God", these was accepted as
valid during their times. But this idea was an accepted myth even without validity. This belief and tradition has become problematic in its origin when
new ideas and advance of information were outlined, and even if new scientific concepts was introduced some Nahuas continue ... Show more content

To prove the validity of their findings they also experimented and acquired more knowledge to distinguish facts from fallacy such as the difference of
medicine compared to witchcraft and sorcery which is the knowledge they were looking for to be wise (tlamatini). Their finding proves as their poem
goes, the true doctor's remedies are tested and he provide cure with scientific methods and knowledge based expertise to restore health, while the false
physician provide wrong medicine, sometimes ridicules and deceive people to make their illness worse.
The Nahuas developed the character of being logical to train themselves with more knowledge in different fields such as mathematics, astronomy, and
cosmology etc. to explain their ideas with a solid foundation to convey the reality. For instance, the astronomer and mathematician calculate with
precision to measure time, hours, days, and years they use navigational instruments like sextants, and calendar for accurate calculation of complex
measures, the Nahuas were able to explain the nature and truth about the universe in a more concrete characteristics rather than myth (Leon–Portilla,

Multiverse ♥
Maybe In Another Universe, I Deserve You
Gaby Dunn
What if, in another universe, I deserve you?
Hear me out. There's this philosopher from the 1890s named William James, and he coined this theory about "the multiverse" which suggests that a
hypothetical set of multiple universes comprises everything that can possibly exist simultaneously.
Are you following? The entirety of space, time, matter and energy is all happening at once in different timelines: It's the idea of parallel universes.
Right? So okay, let's presume the multiverse is real.
Well then, maybe somewhere in those infinite universes is one, or several, where I deserve you.

curiosity and issues. A universe where we're happy – without wondering if that happiness is some messed–up Jenga game ready to topple at the
slightest quiver. A universe where we're comfortable and sure, and we have cats.
Maybe there's a universe where we fall asleep next to each other every night like spoons, like two innocent bunnies – my face buried in your neck,
hugging your warmth – and we both don't want anything or anybody else. Where we don't want more, we just want each other.
Maybe there's a universe where I don't covet so much all the time and where I'm content and where I don't wonder about picking up and moving to
Japan without saying anything to anyone and where at this very juncture, I can just know I'll always want to come home and cook dinner with you.
If you think of it all this way, then it's like neither of us did anything wrong.

The Machiavellian Cosmos
Anthony Parel's book, The Machiavellian Cosmos, written in 1992, argues that Machiavelli does not fit the Renaissance description of what a Christian
entailed. He like some of the other authors discussed in this book, state that Machiavelli believed "Christianity made the world weak, and encouraged
Christians to suffer injuries rather than to avenge them." The books main discussion depicts heaven as a non–religious place in Machiavellian ideology,
instead he hearkens back to the ancients' teachings on the heavens. Heaven entails astrological connotations in Machiavelli's works, which gives
Machiavelli a "certain type of naturalism." Parel's book appears difficult to read, as he makes odd arguments concerning astrology affecting Christianity

Movies and shows like Star Wars and Star Trek play with the idea of the unknown, making mysterious planets with interesting looking aliens. The
major difference between Cosmos and a movie like Star Wars is that Cosmos is confined to scientific fact, but plays with the same elements that make
Star Wars appealing. While Cosmos may not feature actual aliens and laser blasters, it treats unknown scientific possibilities as foreign and in some
cases futuristic as if to ask the viewers: What if this possibility was a reality? In fact we see the probing of these possibilities in the first episode, which
spends the majority of its time talking about the multiverse theory. The show begins with the multiverse theory, which opens up the door to infinite
possibilities, infinite outcomes; the show starts with the presentation of this theory because the theory itself appeals to our hunger not just as
individuals, but as a species to know more about what lies beyond our universe. They use this thirst for scientific curiosity to keep the viewers interested

How Does Cosmos Work?
For something to be recognized as knowledge, or true, one must observe/think about the notion, and then try to describe it as best as they can. A
community of professionals in that field must then try to see if it is true or false through experimentation or just looking at old data on the matter. The
Greeks were doing this when trying to explain the cosmos through various theories and thoughts on how different things functioned. Two Greek men at
the time that were doing this and were very wellВknown for doing so were Democritus and Anaximander. They both have had many theories and
ideas on how some parts of our cosmos works and looks. Some may have been right, some may have been wrong, but the important thing is that they

Hippolytus describes what Democritus meant was that through the atoms constantly regrouping made the possibility for the atoms unlimited, and that
is why there are so many things in this universe that are all of different shapes and sizes. Atoms are the basis of everything we know of, but molecules
are what atoms tend to become once they come together and form the things that we know. Democritus nailed this idea right on the head, and this is
seen all throughout modern chemistry and physics. The fact that water is a molecule, made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, was
probably an insane idea before Democritus theorized it. Now, this wasn't known to them as molecules, but they made the best out of Democritus'
explanation of these atoms that would collide and suddenly start forming different shapes, until it made an actual observable thing in the universe.
There are times, however, that Democritus was very wrong. For instance, both Democritus and Leucippus thought that the Earth was shaped like a
cylinder. The only difference between Democritus and Leucippus' logic was that Democritus thought that the Earth had

Cosmo Kramer Personality
Introduction
"Personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving" (American Psychological Association, 2017)
and is both socially and culturally constructed. The psychology of personality deals with how and why people differ. There is no unifying theory to
describe personality, although many descriptions and structures have been proposed. Theories of personality specify the central elements of personality
and these are the characteristics by which people differ. Such theories include the psychodynamic, humanistic and trait perspectives.

neutral pH had the most height, then lemon juice, and lastly the baking soda mixture. The baking soda mixture left the plants dead after the fourteenth
day of the experiment. The data shows that each plant grew from 1–2.5 inches everytime they were checked. This can be represented by trial one of
water when the sprout grew from 3.5 inches to 5 inches. Based on the qualitative data, the baking soda plants showed little growth and progressively ...

The Cosmos flower was used to test this. Water has a neutral pH which is generally the best substance for any type of plant to grow and be healthy.
However, the Cosmos also grows well when hydrated with a more acidic substance. When hydrated with a substance that is more of abase, it will not
grow successfully, which is proven by the data since they died after the third check and became wilted. The hypothesis was not proven because the
plants watered with the acidic lemon juice grew more successfully than base substance, which was predicted to keep the plants healthy. The tallest
plants that grew was hydrated with water and was 13 inches tall and the shortest living plant was hydrated with the baking soda solution and was 2
inches tall. The control of this experiment was the plant, the Cosmos Bipinnatus because it did not change. The amount of time passed in days was
changing, which makes it the independent variable. The dependent variable was the height of the plant, along with its overall health. After composing
the procedure, it was observed that the measurements were off, which was an experimental error. The mixture between baking and water was too
thick and did not saturate the soil. This could have caused the plants to die more quickly and the pH may not have affected the data as much if it

  • 2. Black Sacred Cosmos Research Paper The Black Sacred Cosmos was developed through the conjoining of the African traditional past with Western Christianity. It explains the influence of the Middle Passage, and the efforts of enslavers to force assimilation of the Africans to Western religious beliefs and cultural practices. Traditional African religions encompassed all portions of life; believers found something sacred in their daily experiences. Modern day black religions encompass life as well, but there are certain days like Sunday, or Saturday in the Adventist church, where we may dedicate more time toGod. Traditional religions were tied to family lines, from birth to death. The religion that one's maternal or paternal family practiced, was passed down from generation to generation; there was no acceptance of faith like Christianity. There was a strong sense of community, where the gods and goddesses were responsible for the wellbeing of the Africans, while the Africans as a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is believed that during that journey, something was spiritually awoken in those Africans. This caused them to refine their African religious practices as the reached South & Central America, as well as the Caribbean. This journey also allowed them to become more spiritual in Christianity; Protestantism in North America and Catholicism in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Once the Africans reached South and Central America, there was greater leniency with the religions they practiced, due to there being more slaves than enslavers. This allowed them to choose to practice their own religion or convert to Catholicism. In North America, there were more enslavers than the enslaved, so African traditional practices were scarce. Until the African were seen as bodiless souls, they were not introduced to Christianity; being seen at the level of animals before the Great Awakenings (1740s and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Heraclitus Logos : The Divine Law Of The Cosmos Heraclitus' central philosophy concerns itself with paradoxical relationships that act in accordance with one another to form the nature of the cosmos. The logos', as Heraclitus understands it to be, refers to both the "divine law of the cosmos" through which all relationships within nature are governed by and man's quest to understand and adopt the logos as a way of living (Reeve & Miller, 9). The term itself has a number of definitions such as, "law", "account", and "reason", all of which give different meanings when framing the idea of the logos within Heraclitus' interpretation of the cosmos. Although Heraclitus believes that the "logos is common" and therefore should be a concept that individuals should constantly strive to understand and adopt; he goes on to explain that the reason for mankind's struggle to understand the logos is a result of individuals choosing to "live as if they had their own private understanding" of the logos and its relation to the cosmos (Reeve & Miller, 10). This private understanding of the logos held by humanity can be attributed to our weak senses which prevents us from grasping the logos and as a result "are bad witnesses [to those who have barbarian souls]" (Reeve & Miller 10). Regarding the "barbarian soul", aside from its classic historical meaning, most likely points towards those considered to be uncivilized. This characteristic of being uncivilized serves as the barrier between not understanding and understanding the logos. Those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. First Episode Of Cosmos In the first episode of Cosmos, Neil deGrasse Tyson describes the human race as a baby in a basket left at somebody's doorstep without a note. He later goes on to say how the human race was gifted our sense of pattern recognition, passed down to us by our ancestors. This sense was essential to our survival, as our ancestors used the stars that would tell them when seasons would be coming and when they should set up camp or leave. They also noticed comets in the night sky and almost every ancient civilization thought that comets foretold disaster. However, a boy named Edmond Halley witnessed a comet in 1664 and was more fascinated than afraid. At 20 years old Halley sailed to an island near West Africa to draw the first star map of the ... Cosmos Of Fire The reflection of the uncreated in the created necessarily presents itself under diverse aspects, and even under an indefinite variety of aspects, each of which has about it something whole and total, so that there are a multiplicity of visions of the cosmos, all equally possible and legitimate in so far as they spring from the universal and immutable principles. Titus Burkhardt. To every shield, there is another side, hidden. A. N. Whitehead. In the Hesiodic account of the world–ages, preserved in the ancient writing known to us as the Works and Days, the poet briefly describes the age of the heroes. The everliving fire centered in itself beyond all worlds lies at the heart of all worlds from it flow all movement, all life, all knowledge. It is the Eternal: "that which never sets", that which at the end of each world–age destroys the old and kindles the new. It may be truthfully called by other names such as Zeus, justice, wisdom, logos. It is both willing and unwilling to be so called. Willing in that such names reflect qualities in its nature: unwilling in that in essence it lies beyond all such qualities. This divine fire forges into existence the structured cosmos. The cosmos is imaged by the Homeric warrior to himself as a sphere. Across the horizontal diametrical plane stretches the flat disc of the earth encircled by the vast streams of Oceanus–ever flowing back into itself. The earth is covered by the inverted bowl of the overworld –a bronze[1] dome across which the sun, moon, and stars move in their risings out of Oceanus in the east, to their settings into Oceanus in the west. Earth rests on the under–world of Erebos and Hades rooted at its greatest depth in the gulfs of Tartarus. About the upper hemisphere of the overworld glitters the threefold light of the Empyrean. Due to Wilder's history it is not surprising that he wants to connect to the cosmos. Throughout Wilder's play time becomes something people lose track of, including the Stage Manager. Wilder goes into detail about how easy it is to take thetime someone has on the planet for granted. The characters who are deceased talk about how the living don't pay attention to their lives during their time on earth. • 10. Cosmogony : The Creation Of The Norse Creation Myth The Norse creation myth, also known as cosmogony, is considered one of the best accounts of such literature in the world. Initially, there was only a cavernous gorge which was known as Ginnungagap with no soil, sky, nor vegetation. Two homelands existed which were Muspelheim and Niflheim. Niflheim was full of elemental ice while the other was the exact opposite having the elemental fire. Fire flames from Muspelheim blew towards Ginnungagap where it met ice from Niflheim causing it to melt. The drops formed a giant god named Ymir, one of many to come. Ymir could reproduce since it was a hermaphrodite and could asexually reproduce, creating more giants (McCoy, Daniel). Through this process, the first woman and man were created named Embla and Ask who were formed from tree trunks. The two created a fence name Midgard to keep them away from the other giants who could harm them (McCoy, Daniel). Consequently, cycle of the cosmos originated. Norse creation mythology is full of dark chaos, murder, and transition. A major cultural belief in Norse myth is that creation cannot happen without any outside influences. It can be noted that life depends on what has already died, and "new life feeds on death" (McCoy, Daniel). It is one of the fundamental principles in life where you have to give in order to get something in return, and this cultural principle of life is noteworthy in the Norse creation myth. We recognize that touch the greatest of mysteries. But the development of something unknown at the time held a sufficient amount of time. And this long journey that opens the way for us to perfect contemplation of the cosmos and its component parts, is really considered one of the truly deserving "feats" of humanity. Exit man in space has its ideological background, leaving back centuries, and technological background, which lasted several decades. On what grounds man became a sentient being and thus separated from the animal world? The man in the social and employment created around himself a habitat that did not exist naturally in the nature of the Earth. In fact, as early mastery of fire and clothing from animal skins were the first means by which man began to create themselves a stable artificial microenvironment that protects it from temperature changes and seasonal changes. The transition from hunting and gathering to animal husbandry, farming and craft guarantee the stability of obtaining food. Modern apartments, food and light industry, in principle, it is the same activity on the formation of the environment. Then it was the Neolithic Revolution, which began about six thousand years ago, the essence of which just consisted in replacing the consumption of finished goods and the nature of their conditions of production. But if a person surrounds himself microenvironment, radically different from the natural macro planet Earth, then, strictly speaking, he had already become "astronauts", although it does not leave the planet. On the off chance that "the universe" incorporates each comprehensible substance, for instance, God, then the announcement is insignificantly genuine. That would it say it is', actual, however so what? We don't learn anything we didn't know. The announcement is a tautology: "everything there is everything there is." • 14. Society Reflection Paper Now that the different facets of the multiverse theory have been explained, what about society's reaction? My hypothesis is that society will freak out and eventually progress into a nihilistic and existential society. Inevitably, there will also be individuals who react differently. I believe society's reaction will mirror that of what happened when Charles Darwin proposed his theory of evolution. Because society went haywire when their view of the world was changed, no doubt society will react in a similar way because their view of the entire universe itself would change. A majority of the population sees our universe as a singular entity that exists on its own. Outside of our universe, there is nothing, since everything we know of is contained within the universe. But the multiverse theory claims that other universes exist outside of our own. Those universes contain other versions of ourselves in different contexts, different jobs, different socioeconomic levels, and with different passions. Right after Charles Darwin's theory of evolution was published, it was read and reviewed by people of different religions, interests, and professions. Many of its first readers were appalled. John Leifchild writes in the Athenaeum, "Man, in [Darwin's] view, was born yesterday–he will perish tomorrow. In place of being immortal, we are only temporary, and, as it were, incidental" (Leifchild). He did not agree with the fact that humanity at the time could change, or has ever changed. ... • 16. Cosmos Summary Cosmos Carl Sagan was born in 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the University of Chicago and studied planets and other elements of space. He was named director of Cornell's Laboratory for Planetary Studies in 1968, and worked with NASA with choosing where the Viking probes would touch down on Mars. He wrote Cosmos in 1980 as a way of explaining his ideas to the world and furthering the points made in his television series, also called Cosmos. Cosmos begins out with the Cosmos themselves, and how they came to be discovered by humans living on Earth. Sagan explains how he once worked at a genetics lab, breeding fruit flies to see how their traits were passed down. He relates it to the evolution of DNA, and how evolution might very well be unique to Earth. When he talks about the coevolution of plants and animals, he explains how oxygen made from plants "makes organic molecules fall to pieces" He says, "Despite our fondness for it, it is fundamentally a poison for unprotected organic matter" (Sagan 29). I thought this was interesting because oxygen is essential for every living thing on Earth. It's what gives us life, but yet at the same time it is slowly killing us. Next up, Sagan talks about astrology vs. astronomy. Personally, I was not sure that there was a difference between the two before reading this book. I had always thought that astrology was a subgroup of astronomy. But, I now understand the difference. Sagan gives a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The participation in these events and overall repetition enforces the religious content and provides an optimistic vision of existence and eventual transcendence for the participant. It provides a break from a temporal and profane duration of time and into a sacred time of importance and meaning for a religion and its followers. Religious experience then would fall into the personal realm of man himself and how he perceives the world around him. Nature provides a chief component in primitive religious man's view of the cosmos and his gods. The sky houses the gods, remote although it may be, natural phenomenon such as thunder and rain gave primitive and early religious man the reasoning to place his gods above him in the intangible heavens as such natural occurrences were due in part to the supernatural beings dwelling in the skies. Alongside the sky, the observation of the transition of the moon and sun (night and day) signify death and rebirth. Water too plays a symbolic part in human experience and although it has a powerful capability to destroy life, it also reiterates the cosmogonic cycle, especially with the practice of baptism where water renews life. (p132) Earth itself is also linked to the human experience of child birth with females. We are taught concepts that stand for no contradiction, for example, the functions and structures of the human body. At what point does a person step back and bringreligion into the conversation when talking about the creation of the cosmos? When is it that a scientific explanation is not the only explanation? • 22. Comparison Of Cosmos And The Scientific Theory Of Creation A problem I have thought of for a long time and might want to solve one day is how the bible and the scientific theory of the creation of the universe do not match up. All I have really done is read over Genesis a couple of times and watched a few documentaries like Cosmos, but I do have a basic theory worked out. First of all, the bible is not literal. There is probably someone who was known as Jesus which I believe had great influence over the people back then. There might not be a God, but I lean towards the idea that there is, and the universe was not made in 7 days, at least not 7 earth days. To god, an earth day may be a couple of milliseconds. Cosmos describes a calendar with all of time since the beginning of the universe stuffed into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, the age of mammals has arrived. "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds:the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind." (Gen 1.24) The rest of the wild animals we see today are created over time. This step describes how all the life began to evolve and diversifying as God made each species unique. Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." We the humans were made. There was not any lie either when it stated man will rule over livestock and wild animals as that is what the people are doing today. "In god's image" I believe just means that we have the power to change the world just like god. If it is true then it would not be going against the chance that there are aliens on other planets. The bible describes that on every planet with life, eventually one will rise up to become the ruler of it all as humans have become for the earth. Expandable Finally, the last day was about god resting. He rested and we did not see many of his actions any longer. There might have been a few changes, but god does not do the big things he did when the universe started any more. He only makes small changes now, miracles every now and then. The only big thing might be the description of Jesus coming down to earth as it does take up its own testament. However as god rests, there is less evidence of his power in the universe, and therefore, almost no one has truly seen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As noted above this is primarily so because the income levels of women in Essence is double the amount of those in Cosmo, which means that the targeted audience is a big age difference. In the table, it can be seen that their sexuality is different in both magazines. Essence conveys an approach that is more of a feminist saying that women can be independent and they don't need to have man. • 24. The Gift By Marcel Mauss: Orientation To The Cosmos Before I answer the first question regarding "orientation to the cosmos" and how Mauss' theories on the exchange of gifts affect human relationships, I would like to start off by giving a quick recap of what orientation to the cosmos is first. In class, we learned that that cosmos refers to the universe as being an orderly yet complex system of things that define the lives of every human being inhabiting the Earth. It is the direct opposite to chaos. Orientation, in a religious context, alludes to the act of embracing one's rightful place and purpose in our cosmos. Now that I've defined the question, I'd like to obviously answer it. Solely based on the first chapter of "The Gift" by Marcel Mauss, the seemingly voluntary acceptance and exchanging of gifts between humans goes much deeper than a simple Secret Santa gift.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These tribes essentially saw gifts as presenting the soul and embodiment of oneself to another person, and the recipient of the gift is expected to accept and reciprocate the gift, with harsh spiritual and moral punishments if done otherwise. Mauss also argues that gifts and the act of gift giving are basically a method of pleasing higher spirits who truly own everything on Earth, therefore sharing wealth and resources with one another rather than hoarding them allows humans to live on good terms with the spirits. Mauss basically writes this when he claims that "the exchange of presents between men incite the spirits of the dead, the gods, things, animals, and nature to be 'generous to them'" (Mauss 14) . In other words, gift giving pleases holy objects, and in turn provokes these holy objects to hospitable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Analysis Of Crossing The Swamp By Mary Oliver The very core of development is change. Sometimes bad, sometimes good, change always leads to a shift in personality. "Crossing the Swamp" by Mary Oliver is a journey of escape as the speaker, who is in a struggle to improve herself, is desperately fighting to come to a place of salvation. The speaker has a relationship of fear and animosity towards the swamp, being a metaphor for the very thing weighing her down, which is equivalent to the relationship of fear and animosity that she has towards the elements in her life that are keeping her from self growth, and is exemplified through her precise diction. By using the swamp as a metaphor, the speaker is able to physically represent something in her life that is preventing her from being the person she aspires. Comparing it to an "Endless,/ wet thick/ cosmos," implies that the swamp is something more than just a swamp (Oliver 1–3). The use of the word cosmos instead of saying the actual word swamp means that the swamp is being used as something beyond its basic definition. Cosmos is a word typically associated with an endless expanse of space, leading one to believe that the swamp is a concept rather than a physical wetland. When the speaker says, "Here/ is swamp, here/ is struggle," she contributes again to this idea that there is more than what seems (Oliver 9–10). The transition from the speaker sinking, to the speaker dreaming of escape further indicate that she does, in fact, hate the swamp for keeping her down and fear that it will keep her down forever. She intends to turn her swamp into "a breathing/ palace of leaves," transforming her life from a negative place to a place in which she is the best version of herself (Oliver 35–36). A "breathing palace" represents a shimmering castle of life. Because it is a transition from being pulled down to attempting to lift herself, one can assume that she is connected to the swamp in a negative way. The speaker also chooses her diction precisely, so that there is clear contribution to the overall idea that the poem is indeed about the quest for change and longing from escape from the swamp. Two very different forms of description are used to represent this source of dread: once by the simple name, swamp, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Balance Of Chaos And Cosmos The thought of the early Greeks demonstrates the overall balance of chaos and cosmos in our universe. This is expressed with many of the Pre–Socratic philosophers. When viewing the early Greeks, we can see many different expressions of chaos and cosmos in the universe. These views, or logos, range from terrible evils, such as Nyx's tilting from cosmos to chaos in Hesiod's world view, to greater goods, such as Anaximander's argument of natural order. This is not to say that they are complete in the idea of rationalism, but together, they can create a stronger standing of the balance in the universe. When it comes to defining what balance in the universe is, there are several aspects to consider. First, one must understand what chaos, cosmos, and logos are. Chaos is defined as disorder; cosmos is defined as order; logos is defined and a human view of the world and what they consider to be order. Hesiod uses these in his poem, Theogony, to describe the origins of the Greek gods. He uses "chaos" and "cosmos" in a different way throughout his poem. Chaos being a god, and cosmos being the universe. This can become tricky when trying to determine where chaos, cosmos, and logos of philosophy are located. There was cosmos expressed when Nyx, the goddess of night, and her daughter Hemera, who is the goddess of light, go through a cycle of one going into the house, and the other coming out. • 27. A Comparison Of Creation In Genesis 1 The Bible has two accounts of creation the first centeres in Genesis 1, which is a very linear 7–day timeline. Compared to the second creation story in Genesis 2, which is a much more literary focused story, with characters that possess story arcs that can be interpreted. God comes alive in this story and there are themes and motifs that are being wrestled with by the writer and reader. Similarly, the story of the Enuma Elish follows a story filled with characters and results is the creation of humans as a byproduct of the Gods struggles. In Genesis 1:1– 2.4a the witting style possess a very linear feel to God's creation of the known world. God starts on day 1 and continues to create till day 6, then he rests on day 7. This linear approach gives the story a complete feeling with a start and an end presented to the reader, it leaves some questions, but the interpretation is quite cut and dry or "mythological." (class notes) Haur and Young say that "the days are numbered like the scenes of a drama"(Hauer and Young 50) Gen , gives us a drama that focuses on a setting created for humans to conquer and use for our own ends. In Genesis 1, God is given a very omniscient, all powerful and divine characteristics. He is controlling everything, which is occurring in these 6 days of creation and him alone. This concept of the cosmos lies at the heart of chinese culture which shows why the concept dealing with the cosmos is important. Foundations to the chinese beliefs within the concept of the cosmos, balance, and order are important to the chapter due to the chinese culture being highly influenced by their beliefs about the world. The idea of order comes from balance within the chinese culture. One without the other would be incomplete and this is clearly seen in the bronze casting technique of the chinese. Another important concept within the chapter is the influence of daoism and Chu spirituality on Chinese culture. The idea of spirituality, that is free, exotic, and full of worshipping ghosts and spirits through shamans and priests was exhibited in the Chu spirituality. The simple definition of an exoplanet, also called extrasolar planet, is any planetary body that orbits a star outside of our solar system (Encyclopedia Britannica). In a Scientific manner, an official definition of exoplanets may be at this point unjustified since the situation is still evolving and that any definitive definition is likely to be too rigid to adapt to new discoveries (Schnieder et al. 2011). A community of professionals in that field must then try to see if it is true or false through experimentation or just looking at old data on the matter. The Greeks were doing this when trying to explain the cosmos through various theories and thoughts on how different things functioned. Two Greek men at the time that were doing this and were very wellВknown for doing so were Democritus and Anaximander. Democritus nailed this idea right on the head, and this is seen all throughout modern chemistry and physics. The fact that water is a molecule, made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, was probably an insane idea before Democritus theorized it. Now, this wasn't known to them as molecules, but they made the best out of Democritus' explanation of these atoms that would collide and suddenly start forming different shapes, until it made an actual observable thing in the universe.
