The legend of zelda
1. Review
The legend of Zelda a link to the past
We played the game for 30 minutes to see how well I played and review it he game its self is
very old and is now considered a Retro game this means that it’s good to play even though
it’s very outdated its art was very square based and the occasional curve to define a corner
but the colour pallet used was very good you can see a very distinct difference between the
dark dungeon and the vibrant castle it is a good way of setting the scene for the game as
you can tell a difference between enemy’s and the difficulty of them so green would mean
that they were an easy kill and blue or black would mean you will need to plan an attack due
to how much harder it is to kill them the music they used was 16 bit and it made the game
much more annoying as it never really made any sense as no matter what it was always
sounding like you was in a fight it had no ambient apart from rain this made for a very non
immersive experience that combined with the very had to kill enemy and it makes you want
to quit the movement is terrible in a fight you must decide if you will fight or move as it
does not allow you do both at the same time.
The game felt sluggish and bulky it was there were no quest markers or any real help you
had to find the way by yourself and that made it very frustrating if you got lost however
they did give you a map but it does not show you the rout only were you are and need to go
2. also the moving is awful you have to move in 4 directions which makes it bad for fighting as
it’s hard to doge the enemy on a the other hand it does have an ok weapons system you get
an inventory and a main weapon and a secondary item that could be a lamp, boomerang or
map etc. and using the weapon is not bad as you can charge it up and use I as an area attack
or tap it and use the swords speed to kill the enemy
The 30 minutes we played i feel was not enough to get a full feel for the story however i did
manage to find that it seems to follow the classic saving the princess type story and though at
the time this was most likely considered a good story it still seemed that it was too overused
the quest never really gave you updates apart from repeating 1 sentence till you finish the
objective this made the game really annoying to progress as it takes 10 seconds to show the
sentence being said and this happens every 3 minutes that can make you angry the missions
only seem to give objectives in the cut scene when the characters talk and you must take your
objective from that and then use the terrible map to find were you must go however the items
you find during the story make the game feel rewarding and gives you a sense of progression.
my conclusion is that the game is around a 4 out of 10 due to the difficulty progressing and
the very annoying updates it does gain some points however for the art work and ability to
interact with most objects you see in game at its best it is a game for those looking for a
challenge an like a realistic quest system but if you are a casual RPG gamer then you will
need to think twice as the game is not for those who like to take it easy.
