2. The main character is a Nigerian born man named Okwe. We can quickly
recognise that Okwe is lower class due to his casual clothing and present
occupation as a driver, however, he is able to speak different languages and was
previously a Doctor which tells us that he is very intelligent and that by being a
driver, he is not reaching his potential.
Okwe and the other immigrants work for the same taxi company which only
has one cheap car. This shows that they are all lower class .
After his shift, Okwe handed a fake ID to his fellow immigrant which suggests
that they are all illegal immigrants as they do not have legitimate
Identifications.
They all live in a rundown part of London and their house is small, cramped
and almost inhabitable.
The men in suites show a contrast to Okwe and his fellow immigrants as they
wear a suite and tie which shows authority and power. This suggest that they
are a higher class than Okwe.
3. The movie starts with Ricky ( the main Character ) leaving his white
cell escorted by a white prison officer. Because Ricky a black man, the
movie is signifying a difference between the two races. He wears a
tracksuit which shows that he is working class.
As he was being registered out, Ricky knew what he had to say and
what he had to do which suggest that he has already been to prison
before. This means that Ricky is involved a lot with criminal activity.
Ricky is picked up by his friend and his little brother. His friend owns a
rundown which shows that he is not very rich.
Ricky’s little brother didn’t go to school so that he could see his brother.
This shows that they are very close and that he doesn’t really value
education.
4. The film starts with Pumpkin and Yolanda talking to
each other in a diner. Pumpkin is smoking and
continuously rubs his nose. This suggest that he has
done drugs. This connotes to crime and violence which
is an important theme of Thriller movies.
They wear casual clothes which shows that they are
not of a high status and probably working class.
They talk about robbing a bank which shows that they
are in need of money.
