1. How to Authenticate This Official Transcript
This official transcript has been delivered to the recipient, and is intended solely for use by that recipient. It is
not permissible to replicate this document or forward it to any person or organization other than the identified
recipient. Release of this record or disclosure of its contents to any third party without written consent of the
record owner is prohibited.
Printed Transcript:
If you have received this transcript as a printed document, you may verify the authenticity by testing the
security features noted on the document.
Electronic Transcript:
If receiving electronically, this official transcript has been digitally signed and therefore contains special
characteristics. This document will reveal a digital certificate that has been applied to the transcript, and for
optimal results, we recommend that this document is viewed with the latest version of Adobe® Acrobat or
Adobe® Reader. This digital certificate will appear in a pop-up screen or status bar on the document, display
a blue ribbon, and declare that the document was certified by Parchment, with a valid certificate issued by
GlobalSign CA for Adobe®. This document certification can be validated by clicking on the Signature
Properties of the document.
The Blue Ribbon Symbol: The blue ribbon is your assurance that the digital certificate is
valid, the document is authentic, and the contents of the transcript have not been altered.
Invalid: If the transcript does not display a valid certification and signature message, reject this
transcript immediately. An invalid digital certificate display means either the digital signature is not
authentic, or the document has been altered. The digital signature can also be revoked by the
transcript office if there is cause, and digital signatures can expire. A document with an invalid
digital signature display should be rejected.
Author Unknown: Lastly, one other possible message, Author Unknown, can have two
possible meanings: The certificate is a self-signed certificate or has been issued by an unknown or
untrusted certificate authority and therefore has not been trusted, or the revocation check could not
complete. If you receive this message make sure you are properly connected to the internet. If you
have a connection and you still cannot validate the digital certificate on-line, reject this document.
The current version of Adobe® Reader is free of charge, and available for immediate download at
http://www.adobe.com.

How the College Works
Excelsior College students complete degree requirements by means of
Excelsior College Undergraduate and Graduate Courses; Excelsior
College Examinations, UExcel®
Exams, other approved college
proficiency examinations; study at accredited colleges and universities
in the United States, and ministerially approved international
universities; military and business/industry courses; and assessment of
experiential college-level learning by faculty members.
A grade of F will appear on the transcript and be used in computing the
grade point average for exams taken after January 1, 2008. Exam grades
are those determined by Excelsior College.
Excelsior College and UExcel®
examinations include an “X” after the
department prefix effective July 1, 2005 for written examinations and
January 1, 2006 for performance examinations.
Beginning with the Fall 2015 trimester, Excelsior College Nursing
Conference Examinations include a CX after the department prefix.

Transfer Credit
Transfer credits which the student desired not to have recorded do not
appear. All credits have been equated to semester hours.
Effective January 1, 2008, course grades less than C are not acceptable
as transfer credit.
Excelsior College Courses
Undergraduate
Excelsior College courses for which students receive a failing,
incomplete, or withdrawal grade will be recorded on the transcript. A
grade of F will be used to compute the grade point average (Note:
Excelsior College undergraduate courses taken from the May 2005
through December 2007 terms, for which students receive a failing,
incomplete, or withdrawal grade are not used to compute the grade point
average and are not recorded on the transcript).
Graduate
Excelsior College graduate courses for which students receive a
failing, incomplete, or withdrawal grade will be recorded on the
transcript. Incomplete and withdrawal grades are not used in
computing the grade point average. A grade of F is used to compute
the grade point average. If an Excelsior College graduate course is
repeated, all iterations are recorded on the transcript, but only the most
recent iteration is used to compute the grade point average (Note:
From the September 2004 through March 2006 terms, if an Excelsior
College graduate course was repeated, only the most recent iteration
is recorded on the transcript and used to compute the grade point
average).
Graduate Record Examination:
Excelsior College does not grant credit for The Graduate Record
Advanced Subject Test to any student enrolling on or after September
1, 2010. A graduated scale for the GRE Advanced Subject Test was
implemented 9-01-06 and applied to all students who enrolled and/or
completed a GRE Advanced Subject Test on or after that date. Credit
for the GRE Advanced Subject Test was awarded according to the
percentile corresponding to the student’s scaled score. The first 12
credits are awarded at the lower level and all credits awarded thereafter
are awarded at the upper level. Faculty determined if duplication
existed between the GRE Advanced Subject Test and academic credit
earned by other means. Duplicated credits may not count towards
degree requirements.
From 9-01-83 to 8-31-96 students were awarded 30 credits from
achieving a passing score on a GRE Advanced Subject Test. Prior to 9-
01-83, students were awarded 39 credits for a passing score.
