Our client, a boutique management consulting firm, seeks a Banking Compliance Consultant for their NYC office to provide guidance on regulatory issues including BSA, AML, OFAC, and Basel/Dodd-Frank compliance. The consultant will assess client programs, identify control gaps, recommend best practices, oversee compliance functions, remain current on regulations, and act as a subject matter expert on banking compliance issues. Qualifications include 10-15 years of banking compliance experience, expertise in interpreting regulations, experience managing compliance staff and projects, and relevant certifications.
1. Our client, a boutique, financially stable management consulting firm with deep
corporate relationships and a full pipeline, seeks a full-time/permanent Banking
Compliance Consultant in their NYC office to provide guidance, leadership and
project/program management across all areas of bank regulatory issues, particularly
focusing on BSA, AML, OFAC, Basel 2/2a/3 and Dodd-Frank issues, to clients across
the Northeast.
The Compliance Consultant:
♦ Will perform current state assessments of client compliance programs,
identifying current and potential future control gaps and compliance program
deficiencies;
♦ Will map the BSA/AML compliance, OFAC Sanction Program, Basel 2/2a/3 and
Dodd-Frank specific control, reporting and monitoring processes to establish
correlation with industry best practices for large complex financial
institutions; where variance exists, best practice recommendations may be
formally made to client executive management and implemented;
♦ May provide ongoing oversight and guidance to Business Unit Compliance
Officers (BUCOs) in the development and maintenance of business unit
procedures in support client compliance programs, including
leading/directing/liaising with internal team members, external staff, vendors
and regulatory agencies;
♦ Will be expected to remain current on industry best practices and on laws,
regulations, and regulatory guidance relating to the BSA/AML and OFAC
Programs in order to oversee projects necessary to implement any such
changes and proactively mitigate potential future compliance gaps;
♦ Will evaluate, recommend and implement automated tools for detecting and
preventing regulatory violations and oversees the installation of compliance
systems initiatives;
♦ Will act as a subject matter expert on industry and regulatory matters with
regards to bank compliance; this includes liaison work within clients and with
regulatory agencies as well as occasionally authoring industry white papers
and appearing on conference panels;
♦ Will occasionally oversee, direct, and manage compliance monitoring and
Investigation functions, including management of Investigations and
analytical teams; and
♦ Will participate in selected senior management committees and new business
development activities
Qualifications of the Compliance Consultant include but are not limited to:
♦ 10-15+ years in banking audit and/or compliance with a demonstrated expert
working knowledge of current and pending banking laws and regulations
including BSA, AML, Basel 2/2a/3, Dodd-Frank, FATCA, SOX, CRA.
♦ The ability to interpret and clearly articulate interpretations of complex
banking compliance laws and regulations.
♦ Experience in managing compliance and audit staff in both ongoing
monitoring and regulatory investigation/audit.
2. ♦ Experience in project management, including identification and
implementation of third party vendor solutions as well as development of
proprietary solutions for compliance technology.
♦ One or more of the following certifications: ACAMS, BSACP, CBO, CRCM,
CBiiPro, CRCMP, SOXCPA
♦ Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum; advanced degrees preferred
♦ Experience in articulating vision and strategies internally to executive
management and externally to current or potential clients, regulators and
vendors.
♦ The proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and drive new
business.
