What is an MRB?
The MRB – Material Review Board – is usually a meeting of various functions for the purpose
to decide what to do with sub-standard products.
Since throwing away a sub-standard
product may be too costly to a company,
the MRB is a sort of last chance to decide
how to save some of the invested money
on a product that does not meet the
company standard, just like class b t-shirts,
that may have some color differentiation
from the front and the back of the shirt.
In this meeting different functions should
participate, such as marketing, production,
QA and perhaps a relevant engineer, so all
the aspects and risks of the sub-standard
product would be taken in account.
In these meeting, the participants may decide to release the product, or release it as class b,
or disassemble and save some of the good parts, or sell to a less strict market, as in third
world countries.
