17. How to play?
A game for a minimum of 2 to 4 players called ‘Real Fake Gaming News’ has
three levels of round- easy, medium, and hard. A player accesses the
companion website where he sees news cards with
● a headline
● short story or description
● the source.
He or she uses fake coins that are accompanied with the game to
determine if the news on each news card is real or fake. He loses coins on
the incorrect answer and retains them if the answer is correct.
19. User’s Observations:
● They wanted more news cards and challenges
● They liked the current news quiz and also got an understanding of what’s
real and unreal news
● To separate real news from fake news was a learning experience for
them
● They found fun element in coin system instead of just points
● It was intriguing for them at the point of time when they were waiting for
the results to be uncovered and find out how many coins each earned
● They were more flexible and had an open-mind towards reading news in
English language.
20. What I took from the user-testing?
● They were uncomfortable with time-frame- Removed time-frame of 60
seconds to answer
● More prominent focus on ‘news’ through debate and discussions
● On the ‘face’ of the news card, gave not just headline but a short
summary and source for more tips on identifying the fake news
● Kept the goal of gaining ‘coins’ as the users liked them
● Designed ‘easy’, ‘medium’, and ‘hard’ levels of news to give the users a
feel of challenging and difficult news
● The scoring system is made easy
21. What I took from the research?
● Main language is English
● The users are free to debate and
free from time-limit of 60 seconds
to answer. This gives them an
opportunity to socialise and
interact
● Player of 2 to 4 players- a tool to
socialise
● Opportunity to learn as they get
tips, access to fact check sources
or sites to check the news
credibility
22. How I used UX Pyramid in the game design?
● A functional and and usable website
● Reliable fact checking sources
website
● Ethically the news cards doesn’t
have rules that mislead the players
nor content that offends or tarnishes
someone’s image but reveals how
social media does this with fake
news
● Convenient and easy to navigate
website
● Significant and relevant because the
game has ‘fake news’ as its focus
● Has fun element with the coins as
said by one of the user-testers
