We got a condensate pump to go with it after reading other reviews on this and other similar ice machines.
We had to install it so that the pump definitely sat lower than the icemaker to allow it to work properly.
At first, there was water all over the floor until we corrected that.If you have any apprehensions at all about whether your location
will work just right, than I would get a pump just in case.Purchase your own ice scoop too because plastic just doesn't cut it.

is all I can manage for this one., December 29, 2011

I am in full agreement with the fist reviewer here.
For the money, we found that this was an adequate ice maker.
We did try it in the kitchen but unfortunately the noise level is simply too high to be tolerated.
It was moved to on of our screened in back porches where it can hum its little head off as we do not set there all that much. The ice
does indeed do some melting from time to time and it is good to have an ice pick handy to break up the clumps.
The ice is quite clear and it does freeze well and efficiently. This is not an ice maker I would have inside the house but for the garage,
porch or out of the way place it does fine and the price here is pretty good.
But since it runs constantly do plan to have your electric bill go up a bit...we found this was so.On the other hand, we are going to be
purchasing a new one soon and simply plan to fork out a bit more money this time and get precisely what we want.

The Edge Star ice maker produces ice pretty efficiently but it sticks together and you have to break it up manually.
The worst thing is that the condensor fan is very noisy.
It sounds like an exhaust fan on a stove and runs constantly.
This is no good for a kitchen.
If you put it in a garage or someplace noise doesn't matter it would be OK for the money.
