This document provides an objective and tasks for examining how filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan developed editing techniques in Hollywood cinema. Students are asked to complete a timeline on editing from the contemporary period and discuss in pairs how Tarantino and Nolan used continuity, montage, and discontinuity editing. They are to describe the filmmakers' significant films and contributions to editing, how the directors use a mixture of continuity and alternative techniques, and the purposes of editing in clips from their films.
