Argumentative Essay : Education Reform

28 April, 2016 Argumentative Essay on Education Reform
The year is 2012. In the movie Back to the Future II, two years from now, in 2016, Marty McFly
travels from the past to save his family's future. The future is almost upon us, and yet it would seem
that our education system has changed little since Back to the Future hit theaters in 1985. "We still
have same teachers, in the same parts, in the same schools, with the same level of knowledge, with
the same equipment's, and much the same standard of parental support" (David). Ironically, we have
been steadily implementing policy after policy, increasing standards and accountability, promoting
oversight and rule... the list goes on, and yet our progress seems minimal, our educators complain of
underfunded classrooms, and our legislators complain of underperforming schools. The question of
"how to improve our education system" is not getting satisfactorily answered because our system is
not broken, merely underdeveloped. The truth is that America has made paces in improving its
education technique or system; the problem that remains is for us to entrust our educators with the
greater pliability and autonomy that they need to excel. The United States has an outstanding
example of successful education reform in California, whose combined approach and unyielding
responsibility to excellence

In order to have a good argumentative essay, there are a few important standards of critical
thinking that is needed to be found in the essay such as the clearness, accuracy, importance or
relevance, sufficiency, depth, breath and precision that is stated by Nosich. The strength of this
argumentative essay is consider weak because it does not capture the interest of the reader and
was not persuasive enough; even though from the introduction of the argumentative essay
includes full sentences and a good opinion, the argumentative essay is all objective. The
introduction includes too much of the emotional appeals, such as when it wrote " Day after day
the number of people worshipping this icon has been growing since the birth of this creature. well
to many it may seem harmless idol but in my opinion, Mickey Mouse is an 'devil in disguise'
influencing the minds of young and old people to adopt the culture of the 'devil' which doesn't
blend will with the moral values of society and should be banned". To improve the introduction, the
writer should include of all objectives statements relative facts and appeals to the mind of people
who agree or disagree with the topic.

Argumentative Essay On Memorials
Memorializing events in the history of the world for any purpose has it's positives as well as the
negatives. Ranging from a memorial of a popular United States president from a loved one of a
family, memorials have generally served as a purpose of remembrance from the past of said event.
The purpose of the memorial is usually associated with a positive, uplifting feeling towards the
deceased individual or past event. While this is more or less simply defining what memorials are
for, what is the meaning behind them? What purpose do they serve besides the simplicity that they
are? Important messages from a few varied sources will give a differing viewpoint on memorials
from one to another. The first thought of memorials is the simple, generic...show more content...
Memorials are meant to be striking in the sense that you will notice said memorial and donate some
attention to it. The views of these see this attention capturing as exceedingly high for some purposes.
Some memorials are outstanding in their craftsmanship and aesthetics. This makes people wonder
what could be lurking inside the memorial, or what is near that memorial. What we've got here is a
formula, striking looks of the monument is almost guaranteed to attract some form of attention.
According to Source G, the analogy of tainting the planet with specific memorials are ridiculous, "I
imagined taking a knife and cutting into the earth, opening it up, an initial violence and pain that in
time would heal. The grass would grow back, but the initial cut would remain a pure flat surface in
the earth with a polished, mirrored surface, much like the surface on a geode when you cut it and
polish the edge. The need for the names to be on the memorial would become the memorial; there
was no need to embellish the design further. The people and their names would allow everyone to
respond and remember. The ideals of such nonsensical placements of the memorials are just irritable

Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now a
concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and
technology. Many people believe that computers will become self–aware or sentient and view
humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the technology
should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help catapult research
and the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the technology offers. The
complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren't obvious, but there are more benefits to
improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the negative effects people
believe will occur can be resolved. There are different types of artificial intelligence that many
institutes and companies believe in. However, they all share the same belief of a self–aware,
conscious, human–like, computer system, the type of AI people fear. Disregarding that an AI is a
computer much like a phone or laptop, one must consider that if something is sentient like a person
or animal, should they be treated like one? And if not, is it discrimination or racism when it is
treated like an item? Slavery treated people based on race or social status differently, the bottom
being slaves. Some might argue that machines don't have a "soul" or aren't alive. There are hundreds
of questions and ideas that have no clear

Argumentative Essay On Privacy

"The only truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and sealed in a
lead–lined room with armed guards."(Spafford). The word privacy has become a buzz word in the
current decade compared to how it used to be talked about in the last decade. As we all are aware
of the recent happenings around the world with regards to privacy, we all should be worried that
nothing is safe in the times we are living in, as every bit of information is getting snatched
somehow or the other through different channels. This information can be something that is related
to our personal, family or professional life. I believe that individual privacy outweighs money or
anything at this moment in the world right now. If we lose money or property, we can regain it
somehow, but if we lose our personal information to someone or an agency, it's challenging to get it
back before it gets misused.
Danial J. Solove is an eminent author and a law professor at University of George Washington law
school. Dr. Solove introduces the article why privacy matters if you have "Nothing to Hide" in an
interesting way that, In his introduction of the eassy, he puts a valid question to the audience
regarding their current privacy standards. He starts off this article by presenting the views of
various people on the most debated topic around the world at present which is "Nothing to Hide."
All throughout the article, Solove tries to make an argument both in a positive and negative tone. He
also supports his arguments with so many valid examples that, it makes you wonder, which side of
the coin he stands.
Firstly, after seeing the collective inferences made by the people in the initial paragraphs of the
article, Solove explains us in which form should we look at the argument "Nothing to Hide." If we
extremely see the argument, for example, If a person says he has nothing to hide, another person
comes and means, since you have nothing to hide can I take a nude picture of yours and show it to
everyone which is an extreme form of taking that argument. Dr.Solove feels that taking an argument
in an exaggerated form isn't a good thing because

Argumentative Essay On Vegetarianism
Around 7.3 million people in the United States are vegetarian ("Vegetarian Times"). The dictionary
defines a vegetarian as "A person who does not eat meat, and sometimes other animal products,
especially for moral, religious or health reasons" ("Vegetarian Definition"). Practicing a religion that
advocates vegetarianism is one of many reasons some people follow a vegetarian diet. A senior at
Liberty–Benton High School who considers herself a pescatarian, a person whose only meat source
is fish and seafood, promotes others to join in on a diet like hers. She claims that over the three
years of her pescatarian diet she has become healthier and happier. Vegetarianism is a controversial
topic, but overall, it creates a healthier lifestyle,...show more content...
During the 80's and 90's, people became vegetarians more because of environmental issues. In the
mid 90's, the Mad Cow disease, Listeria, and Salmonella break out occurred, making people more
cautious of meat eating.
The Animal Welfare Act was established in 1996 and signed by Lyndon B. Johnson (Animal
Welfare Act). The Animal Welfare Act has authority over animals in laboratories, animal exhibitors,
dealers who sell animals to research laboratories, dog and cat breeders, animal carriers, intermediate
handlers, circuses, zoos, puppy roadside menageries, mills, and transporters of animals. Under the
Act, people must provide their animals with adequate care and treatment in the areas of housing,
handling, sanitation, nutrition, water, veterinary care, and protection from extreme weather and
temperatures (Animal Welfare Act). People that disobey the Act can receive punishments such as
revoked license, imprisonment, or a fine. Over one million birds and mammals are violently killed
every hour in the United States, and an estimated 150 billion animals per year are murdered
worldwide (Arora). Animal slaughterhouses for large food companies are known for animal cruelty
and vegetarians recognize this. Many vegetarians also boycott places like SeaWorld who keep wild
animals locked in cages. Every day in countries around the world, animals are fighting for their lives.
They are enslaved, beaten, and kept in chains to make them perform for human "entertainment."

Argumentative Essay On Procrastination
Procrastination is ignoring your responsibilities and avoiding them for no good reason. Experiencing
procrastination can have a positive or negative reaction according to the amount of the behavior. The
person that is procrastinating must first realize that they have a problem in order to find ways to
overcome procrastination because they are putting their health, family and job at risk. Twenty
percent of people realize they are procrastinators which in the end becomes a lifestyle. There are
various reasons why people procrastinate.
People procrastinate because they are afraid to fail, they have poor time management, they avoid
things that seem difficult or they feel depressed or they feel guilty. Some people believe that other
procrastinate out of laziness or lack of discipline, but I know there are perfectionists that often
procrastinate as well. For example, a perfectionist may put off writing a paper until the night before
it is due and then they will have an excuse saying, "I restarted because I didn't like what I had
written.". Another example is that some philosophers and scientists, such that Aristotle questioned if
time even exists, and Einstein believed that time was a muddle in which the past, present and future
were only illusions.
First, a person must be honest with themselves and recognize that they are procrastinating. After
coming to the realization that one is a procrastinator, make a to do list with low priority tasks; work
out why you procrastinate, by

Argumentative Essay On Social Networking
Social networking has more benefits than you think. Some don't like social networking while others
are all for it. There are many people who have debated the benefits and detriments to society,
students, and family. Example of social networking would be Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and
Youtube. Although social networking has some issues, many are easily taken care of, making it a
benefit and improvement to society. The first argument those against social networking mention is
cyberbullying. "Cyber Bullying is deliberately using digital media to communicate false,
embarrassing, or hostile information about another person." (O'Keefe). Cyber Bullying can be a
problem especially with insecure people who get it too young, but the majority of people are fine
with a little bit of crud and joking. The article, Bullycide: A brief history of the Phoebe Prince
phenomenon is all about the kids who got cyber bullied. They have a collection of real stories of
people getting cyberbullied. There are many examples of people getting bullied and committing
suicide. This article said, "By many accounts, it's getting worse, as social networking and
text–messaging have expanded the bullies toolkit: Studies show that 33 to 42 percent of kids have
been attacked or humiliated online." ("Bullycide"). Although bullying has been a problem in the
past, sites now let the user to either accept or decline friend requests, not allow them to send you
stuff, or block them. This can stop cyber bullying in

Othello : An Argumentative Essay
Othello: An Argumentative Essay
Inside each of us, there is a seed of good and evil since it is a constant struggle for us to determine
as to which one will win, so that is why one cannot exist without the other. However, there are some
whose emotions are unbalanced, which causes them to near towards one side more than the other
one ВВ and many times the side a lot of people prefer to lean on is evil. Shakespeare's play O thello
is set in 16thВcentury Venice and Cyprus.Othello, a noble black general from the Venetian army has
secretly married Desdemona, daughter of Venice senator Brabantio. Othello chooses inexperienced
Cassio to be his lieutenant, while he decides to give the ensign position to Iago, a malicious but very
experienced man who, with his stealth and knavery, will ultimately ruin almost everyone's life
since for a long time, he was desiring the position of lieutenant just like Cassio. At the end of the
play, Othello, Desdemona, Iago's wife Emilia, and his sidekick Roderigo die due to his revenge
against Cassio, for obtaining the position he wanted and Othello, for being the man who he hates
the most. The play ends with Iago being told that he will be punished and tortured for his actions.
However, despite the fact that Iago is punished at the end of the play for doing all of the malicious
things he did, he still manages to wear down Othello's relationship with Desdemona, get Cassio
demoted from his lieutenancy, and cause Othello to show his cowardness by

Argumentative Essay On School Funding
In the United States, public schools get their funding from their respective state. As a student, it can
be seen as concerning when one compares how much states spend on their schools. Many schools
are inadequate in both an aspect of safety and effectiveness of the learning environment. As a result
of inadequate subsidy across America, schools resort to taking drastic measures. Not only are the
unequal sources of subsidy a difficulty, but the concept and execution of budget cuts also exacerbate
the issue. In order to give every student in America equal opportunities for success, funding should
be controlled by the federal government with a policy that enforces equity rather than equality. This
is also a viable option that could be carried...show more content...
Cory Turner of National Public Radio, writer of Why America's Schools Have A Money Problem,
has the answer; "...45 percent local money, 45 percent from the state and 10 percent federal...why is
it that one Chicago–area district has $9,794 to spend on each of its students, while another, nearby
district has three times that? Two words: property tax," (Turner 2). The authors of Equity Is the Key
to Better School Funding, Marin Gjaja, J. Puckett, and Matt Ryder, say, "Giving kids in
high–poverty areas an equal opportunity to succeed requires spending more money on those
students," suggesting that in those low–income areas, local and state government regulations alone
and predominately will not be beneficial (Gjaja, Puckett, and Ryder 1). Property taxes when
associated with funding for education are insufficient in low income areas, and in return are
insufficient for the school. Leaving local and state governments with the responsibility of fulfilling a
majority of education costs is a concept we should correct. Turner also mentions that one Arizona
school has four–day weeks to save money from electricity bills, as a result of poor rates of property
taxes. Budget cuts also contribute to the impairment of districts with lower property taxes and lower
income families, an implied point from Michael Leachman's article, Most States have Cut School
Funding, and Some

Argumentative Essay On English Class
What I am about to do is inform you on how to survive the ferocious English 1302 course to make
life a bit easier on you. I mean, you're at the edge of your seat dying with loads of work, starving
like a dying child, living off of pennies and the only thing that is keeping you from collapsing is
your Starbucks drink that is filled with four shots of espresso, right? Well, by the time you get to the
end of this letter, you'll thank me later for it.
When you enter your English class, you will come across many assignments. They happen to be your
annotated bibliography and your researched argument essay, or in other words RAE. The purpose of
the bibliography is to critique sources and gather enough data for you essay. It includes citations, a
summary of your topic and personal thoughts of the sources you chose. The RAE is a persuasive
essay where you attempt to create an argument that is supported with the information you gathered
in your annotated bibliography. In my RAE, I argued that children can recuperate after their parents'
separation. Its purpose was to demonstrate that if parents were to come together and realize that

I learned that by annotating a certain part of the reading, it helped increase my understanding. Not
only that but it helped me not miss a single bit of important information. Writing notes in the
margins of the text was really helpful because it was a summary of the entire paragraph and
whenever I would look back at my notes, it reminded me of what I read. Also, circling words I
didn't know was very accommodating because again, it helped me understand the concept a bit
more. Underlining words that seem important to you is a big tip I suggest because you are able to
use that information when you are talking about your source. You can expand that information by
linking it to another similar source. Therefore, it is important to annotate. It'll take up extra time but

Mandatory Vaccination Argumentative Essay
Mandatory vaccinations have been hotly debated in the United States for over two centuries, making
the argument almost as old as the country itself. As early as 1809, Massachusetts became the first
state to mandate the world's premiere vaccine. Authorities recognized the life–saving benefits of the
smallpox vaccine. They chose to require inoculation to protect the community from further
outbreaks. Public outrage ensued as some community members feared the new vaccine and believed
they should be able to choose if they wished to receive it. The most vocal protestors formed
anti–compulsory vaccination groups and were successful in getting laws overturned in many states.
However, even the United States Supreme Court has upheld states' rights to require immunization.

Despite significant progress in the fight against preventable disease, millions still die needlessly
each year. According to UNICEF, originally known as the United Nations International Children's
Emergency Fund, a vaccine preventable disease is responsible for 2 million fatal infections
worldwide each year. About 75% of these deaths occur in children under five years of age. (N) In
more vivid terms, UNICEF notes that vaccine–preventable diseases kill a child every 20 seconds.
(D) Due to high rates of childhood vaccination, the United States has experienced a dramatic
reduction in such deaths. A comparison of the years 1950 and 2010 clearly illustrates the benefits of
vaccinations. During this 60–year period, deaths from diphtheria reduced from 410 to 0, tetanus
from 336 to 3, pertussis from 1,118 to 26, and polio from 1,904 to 0. Measles deaths dropped from
468 in 1950 to 0 in 2008, the last year a United States death rate was recorded. It's not surprising that
vaccinations have been touted as one of the top ten health achievements of the 20th century by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first
started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively
affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and
change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced
the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate
change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but
evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions.
"...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like
Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an
increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity.
According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the
Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include
change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although
numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on
whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is
neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media
and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings
of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of
these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice
in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by
nuclear submarines since the Cold War,
according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September
2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not

Argumentative Essay On School Start Time
Every morning students in the United States feel the effects the early start time many schools have
implemented. These students are lethargic and inattentive, due to the lack of sleep they are getting
every night. Typically, adults see these characteristics as the result of teenagers staying up late
watching Netflix or using their cell phones. Many reputable organizations, such as the Centers for
Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics, have researched this problem and found
that teenagers are lacking in sleep due to biological and physiological changes that are occurring
within their brains. These shifts cause students to be more inattentive and reckless, resulting in lower
grades, tardiness, and higher rates of car...show more content...
By requiring teenagers to wake up early, school officials are basically neglecting the health of their
student bodies in favor of making their lives simpler. Despite the overwhelming evidence given by
current research, many people refuse to change school start times because of the lack of noticeable
impact some schools had or the impact it had on some people's schedules. Pannoni cites a statement
by the Iowa City Community School District which found that "the later start time . . . [did] not
reduce the number of tardy students by any appreciable amount." The principal of Ballard High
School agreed by saying that he "would be surprised to see large improvements in either attendance
or grade data compared with past years" (Pannoni). Many schools refused to change because of how
the later start and dismissal times would affect extracurricular activities and students with jobs. This
change would also interfere with bus schedules and childcare habits. However, these seem like
small problems that can be overcome when the results are that "later school start times were
associated with students sleeping longer at night, less tardiness, having higher test scores, being less
depressed, using less caffeine and other drugs, . . . and experiencing fewer morning car crashes"
(Fenwick). The most compelling evidence that shows changing school start

Anxiety disorders are some of the most prominent mental disorders that people face. Anyone can
have them, young or old. These disorders can be extremely debilitating and exhausting for a person
to live with. Every little thing they do could evoke the symptoms of their anxiety disorders.
Everyday these various symptoms must be overcome for them to enjoy their daily activities.
Throughout the world there are many people who suffer from anxiety disorders, a few of the most
common ones are Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Post–Traumatic Stress
Disorder. Generalized Anxiety Disorder also known as (GAD) is a typical anxiety disorder that
involves nervousness, tension, and chronic worrying. With chronic worrying every aspect of life
is affected. Generalized Anxiety Disorder is different from normal worrying, because the
worrying involved is intrusive, disruptive, persistent, and excessive. Melinda Smith, M.A., has

Argumentative Essay On 9 / 11
Every American citizen can remember exactly where they were on the day September 11, 2001, this
day was burned into the mind of American because the biggest terrorist attack in American history
would occur. Two Boeing planes hijacked by a terrorist organization named al–Qaeda who would
crash the planes into the world trades centers, sending America into shock(Pizzo,2016). There have
been countless laws and regulations passed in America since the awful terrorist attacks on 9/11,
has it been effective or a failure. The attack on September 11, 2001, will forever be a turning point
in American history, it raised one of the most important questions in American society today what is
more import for a citizen freedom or security and the law put in place to combat these horrific
terrorist attack ultimately would be ineffective and tear American more apart on political issues.
The terrorist attacks on the world trades created many laws trying to prevent these from ever

government was the Patriot Act also known as the Anti–Terrorism Act of 2001; these laws would be
the biggest expand of government in U.S history(Pizzo,2016). The original law was created to try to

Argumentative Essay On Stereotyping
Racial Stereotypes As a little girl, I was ashamed to be Indian. This was due to all the negative
stereotypes surrounding my race. In my childhood, I heard people say Indians were smelly,
stingy, and stuck up (alliteration). In fear of being teased and misjudged, I tried to be as "normal" as
possible to make everyone forget that I was Indian (pathos). As I grew older, I learned to be proud of
who I am, but disregarding stereotypes is still a challenge. I am sure everyone in this room has been
affected by racial stereotypes before and believe me, I know what you are going through (ethos).
You may think that only bigoted and prejudiced people used stereotypes, however, recent studies
have shown that everyone categorizes people on a daily basis without even realizing it. Most
people think stereotypes are just jokes, yet research proves that stereotypes have serious negative
effects. People should stop stereotyping because stereotypes cause "stereotype threats", create social
division, and lead to racism (parallelism). The first effect of stereotyping is a phenomenon known as
"stereotype threat" that occurs in a situation where a person is in fear of unintentionally confirming a
negative stereotype. Several studies have been conducted to discover the effects of stereotype
threats. For example, I discovered that Toni Schmader, an assistant professor of the UA psychology
department, and Michael Johns, a UA graduate (ethos), conducted studies that showed, "college
women score lower on tests of mathematical ability, and Hispanic students might score lower on tests
of intelligence, not because they have less ability, but because reminders of negative stereotypes
temporarily decrease their 'working memory capacity' (UA News Services, "Exploring the Negative
Consequences of Stereotyping", UANews.Arizona.edu)." This demonstrates that the students did not
do worse on the test due to their lack of skills, but rather due to negative stereotypes. In a similar
study by professors Claude Steele and Joshua Aronson, African American and White college students
took the same intelligence test under two conditions. In the stereotype threat condition the students
were told the test would evaluate their intelligence, and in the

Argumentative Essay On Autism
Let's say you have a box of crayons. It represents ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), now inside
the box you have different colors of crayons. Each color/crayon is a different disorder. The color
we want to talk about today is teal, the official color for autism. Stuart Duncan once said, "Autism,
like a rainbow, has a bright side and a dark side and even though it can mean rough waters it can be
beautiful." Autism isn't a label, it's a diagnoses. People with autism can be just as successful as
neurotypical people. People with autism have been the subject of stereotypes and neglect for
decades. Only in the last 150 years or so have things started to change. We don't know what causes
autism, but thanks to increased research and awareness we're making more progress than ever.
People with autism face many challenges everyday, autism is a spectrum. It's not the same for
everyone. Due to it being a spectrum it can be hard for people without autism to understand the
challenges autistic people face, and how to go about interacting with autistic people. There are
lots of autistic people worldwide, it's time we start making them feel more like people. 1 in 68
people in the US have autism, this includes 1 in 189 girls and 1 in 42 boys. Autism is a difference
in perception; technically it's a developmental disorder that is the result of a difference in brain
chemicals. Scientists don't know what causes autism or why it's stayed in the human gene pool for
so long. People with autism could have a wide variety of symptoms, but some of the most common
characteristics are fixations on things they like, reliance on routines, and lack of social skills. Autism
can be formally diagnosed at ages as young as 3. There is no medical test to diagnose autism, rather
a trained professional in the psychology field will perform a developmental screening and a
comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. When a child is diagnosed with autism, therapy is strongly
recommended. The earlier treatment starts the better because certain aspects of the disorder can be
lessened through therapy. Therapy helps the mind and the body, certain therapies can help rebuild
your brain, so to speak. Autistic brains are physically different than neurotypical ones.

Argumentative Essay On Veganism
Running head: RESEARCH ESSAY
In today's society, there are many different diets that people can follow. One of those diets is
called veganism. People who follow this diet refuse to consume meat or other animal products,
including eggs and dairy. Veganism is becoming more and more popular for a number of reasons.
Some people go vegan because they do not want to be responsible for cruelty against animals. Others
choose the vegan diet for their health or to help protect the environment. No matter what the reason,
the truth is clear: the vegan diet is simply the best choice. It is better for animals, better for us, and
better for the Earth.
Farm animals' lives are degrading, painful, and they endure a lot of abuse. The majority of our meat

In addition to their clean consciences, vegans can boast of healthy bodies. A meat–heavy diet can be
disastrous for one's health. The World Health Organization, for instance, has linked red and
processed meats to colorectal cancer (O'Connor, October 2015). Plant–based diets, on the other hand,
benefit our bodies in many ways. The advantages of avoiding meat are summarized in a recent
article from The Duke Health Medicine
News: "Vegetarian dietary patterns are associated with lower body mass, lower prevalence and
incidence of diabetes mellitus, lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its components
(abdominal obesity, elevated blood pressure and fasting blood sugar, high triglycerides and low
HDL cholesterol levels), lower hypertension, lower all–cause mortality, and in some cases, lower risk
of cancer" ("Vegetarian Diets", 2015, p.
4). A vegan diet offers all of the above benefits, as well as several that aren't associated with
vegetarianism:
"Compared to lacto–ovo–vegetarian diets, vegan diets seem to provide some added protection
against obesity, hypertension, type–2 diabetes; and cardiovascular mortality" (Le & SabatГ©, 2014,
p. 2142). Despite these facts, many people remain skeptical. That vegans can obtain all the nutrients
their bodies need, such as protein. This skepticism is unfounded: legumes, tofu, and other staples of

Argumentative Essay On Renewable Energy
Renewability
For nearly everyone on earth, fossil fuels are a part of our daily lives. Some of the more obvious
places to find petroleum products would be gas and diesel in cars and trucks, but it is in more than
just your tank. Without fossil fuels, we would not have things such as plastic to make a wide
variety of things such as tires, kayaks, or even computers. The question remains, do we need fossil
fuels?
In this day and age, we have new energy sources that could be used to power our homes and
transportation. Wind and solar power are used all over the world, but are still used far less than
fossil fuels. Most would say it's not reliable or it doesn't make any profit. While both statements are
true, it doesn't mean we can't make a better future using renewable energy. In fact, the only reason
we don't use renewables for everything is that we don't want to change. The hard truth is we need to
change. Fossil fuels are great right now, but if we run out, humanity must have another source of
energy.
Renewable energy may seem like a daunting task, but the benefits to humanity could be incredible.
Public uses of renewable energy range from transportation all the way to heating and cooling.
Everything we use could become less explosive and less expensive. Cities with a high concentration
of people could become safer and healthier places to live. Transportation could be converted to
electricity dramatically, improving smog conditions. Global warming may or may not

  • 1. Argumentative Essay : Education Reform Asehun 1 Senay Asehun Ms. McAlister Eng. 112 – 21 28 April, 2016 Argumentative Essay on Education Reform The year is 2012. In the movie Back to the Future II, two years from now, in 2016, Marty McFly travels from the past to save his family's future. The future is almost upon us, and yet it would seem that our education system has changed little since Back to the Future hit theaters in 1985. "We still have same teachers, in the same parts, in the same schools, with the same level of knowledge, with the same equipment's, and much the same standard of parental support" (David). Ironically, we have been steadily implementing policy after policy, increasing standards and accountability, promoting oversight and rule... the list goes on, and yet our progress seems minimal, our educators complain of underfunded classrooms, and our legislators complain of underperforming schools. The question of "how to improve our education system" is not getting satisfactorily answered because our system is not broken, merely underdeveloped. The truth is that America has made paces in improving its education technique or system; the problem that remains is for us to entrust our educators with the greater pliability and autonomy that they need to excel. The United States has an outstanding example of successful education reform in California, whose combined approach and unyielding responsibility to excellence Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In order to have a good argumentative essay, there are a few important standards of critical thinking that is needed to be found in the essay such as the clearness, accuracy, importance or relevance, sufficiency, depth, breath and precision that is stated by Nosich. The strength of this argumentative essay is consider weak because it does not capture the interest of the reader and was not persuasive enough; even though from the introduction of the argumentative essay includes full sentences and a good opinion, the argumentative essay is all objective. The introduction includes too much of the emotional appeals, such as when it wrote " Day after day the number of people worshipping this icon has been growing since the birth of this creature. well to many it may seem harmless idol but in my opinion, Mickey Mouse is an 'devil in disguise' influencing the minds of young and old people to adopt the culture of the 'devil' which doesn't blend will with the moral values of society and should be banned". To improve the introduction, the writer should include of all objectives statements relative facts and appeals to the mind of people who agree or disagree with the topic. • 3. Argumentative Essay On Memorials Memorializing events in the history of the world for any purpose has it's positives as well as the negatives. Ranging from a memorial of a popular United States president from a loved one of a family, memorials have generally served as a purpose of remembrance from the past of said event. The purpose of the memorial is usually associated with a positive, uplifting feeling towards the deceased individual or past event. While this is more or less simply defining what memorials are for, what is the meaning behind them? What purpose do they serve besides the simplicity that they are? Important messages from a few varied sources will give a differing viewpoint on memorials from one to another. The first thought of memorials is the simple, generic...show more content... Memorials are meant to be striking in the sense that you will notice said memorial and donate some attention to it. The views of these see this attention capturing as exceedingly high for some purposes. Some memorials are outstanding in their craftsmanship and aesthetics. This makes people wonder what could be lurking inside the memorial, or what is near that memorial. What we've got here is a formula, striking looks of the monument is almost guaranteed to attract some form of attention. According to Source G, the analogy of tainting the planet with specific memorials are ridiculous, "I imagined taking a knife and cutting into the earth, opening it up, an initial violence and pain that in time would heal. The grass would grow back, but the initial cut would remain a pure flat surface in the earth with a polished, mirrored surface, much like the surface on a geode when you cut it and polish the edge. The need for the names to be on the memorial would become the memorial; there was no need to embellish the design further. The people and their names would allow everyone to respond and remember. The ideals of such nonsensical placements of the memorials are just irritable at the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now a concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and technology. Many people believe that computers will become self–aware or sentient and view humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the technology should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help catapult research and the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the technology offers. The complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren't obvious, but there are more benefits to improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the negative effects people believe will occur can be resolved. There are different types of artificial intelligence that many institutes and companies believe in. However, they all share the same belief of a self–aware, conscious, human–like, computer system, the type of AI people fear. Disregarding that an AI is a computer much like a phone or laptop, one must consider that if something is sentient like a person or animal, should they be treated like one? And if not, is it discrimination or racism when it is treated like an item? Slavery treated people based on race or social status differently, the bottom being slaves. Some might argue that machines don't have a "soul" or aren't alive. There are hundreds of questions and ideas that have no clear Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Argumentative Essay On Privacy Prasanna Kumar Bezavada Online English 3000(Section–07) Patricia Raburn 29–10–17 Privacy++ "The only truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and sealed in a lead–lined room with armed guards."(Spafford). The word privacy has become a buzz word in the current decade compared to how it used to be talked about in the last decade. As we all are aware of the recent happenings around the world with regards to privacy, we all should be worried that nothing is safe in the times we are living in, as every bit of information is getting snatched somehow or the other through different channels. This information can be something that is related to our personal, family or professional life. I believe that individual privacy outweighs money or anything at this moment in the world right now. If we lose money or property, we can regain it somehow, but if we lose our personal information to someone or an agency, it's challenging to get it back before it gets misused. Danial J. Solove is an eminent author and a law professor at University of George Washington law school. Dr. Solove introduces the article why privacy matters if you have "Nothing to Hide" in an interesting way that, In his introduction of the eassy, he puts a valid question to the audience regarding their current privacy standards. He starts off this article by presenting the views of various people on the most debated topic around the world at present which is "Nothing to Hide." All throughout the article, Solove tries to make an argument both in a positive and negative tone. He also supports his arguments with so many valid examples that, it makes you wonder, which side of the coin he stands. Firstly, after seeing the collective inferences made by the people in the initial paragraphs of the article, Solove explains us in which form should we look at the argument "Nothing to Hide." If we extremely see the argument, for example, If a person says he has nothing to hide, another person comes and means, since you have nothing to hide can I take a nude picture of yours and show it to everyone which is an extreme form of taking that argument. Dr.Solove feels that taking an argument in an exaggerated form isn't a good thing because Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The dictionary defines a vegetarian as "A person who does not eat meat, and sometimes other animal products, especially for moral, religious or health reasons" ("Vegetarian Definition"). Practicing a religion that advocates vegetarianism is one of many reasons some people follow a vegetarian diet. A senior at Liberty–Benton High School who considers herself a pescatarian, a person whose only meat source is fish and seafood, promotes others to join in on a diet like hers. She claims that over the three years of her pescatarian diet she has become healthier and happier. In the mid 90's, the Mad Cow disease, Listeria, and Salmonella break out occurred, making people more cautious of meat eating. The Animal Welfare Act was established in 1996 and signed by Lyndon B. Johnson (Animal Welfare Act). The Animal Welfare Act has authority over animals in laboratories, animal exhibitors, dealers who sell animals to research laboratories, dog and cat breeders, animal carriers, intermediate handlers, circuses, zoos, puppy roadside menageries, mills, and transporters of animals. Under the Act, people must provide their animals with adequate care and treatment in the areas of housing, handling, sanitation, nutrition, water, veterinary care, and protection from extreme weather and temperatures (Animal Welfare Act). People that disobey the Act can receive punishments such as revoked license, imprisonment, or a fine. Over one million birds and mammals are violently killed every hour in the United States, and an estimated 150 billion animals per year are murdered worldwide (Arora). Animal slaughterhouses for large food companies are known for animal cruelty and vegetarians recognize this. Many vegetarians also boycott places like SeaWorld who keep wild animals locked in cages. Experiencing procrastination can have a positive or negative reaction according to the amount of the behavior. The person that is procrastinating must first realize that they have a problem in order to find ways to overcome procrastination because they are putting their health, family and job at risk. Twenty percent of people realize they are procrastinators which in the end becomes a lifestyle. There are various reasons why people procrastinate. People procrastinate because they are afraid to fail, they have poor time management, they avoid things that seem difficult or they feel depressed or they feel guilty. Some people believe that other procrastinate out of laziness or lack of discipline, but I know there are perfectionists that often procrastinate as well. For example, a perfectionist may put off writing a paper until the night before it is due and then they will have an excuse saying, "I restarted because I didn't like what I had written.". Another example is that some philosophers and scientists, such that Aristotle questioned if time even exists, and Einstein believed that time was a muddle in which the past, present and future were only illusions. There are many people who have debated the benefits and detriments to society, students, and family. Example of social networking would be Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube. Although social networking has some issues, many are easily taken care of, making it a benefit and improvement to society. The first argument those against social networking mention is cyberbullying. "Cyber Bullying is deliberately using digital media to communicate false, embarrassing, or hostile information about another person." (O'Keefe). Othello : An Argumentative Essay Othello: An Argumentative Essay Inside each of us, there is a seed of good and evil since it is a constant struggle for us to determine as to which one will win, so that is why one cannot exist without the other. However, there are some whose emotions are unbalanced, which causes them to near towards one side more than the other one ВВ and many times the side a lot of people prefer to lean on is evil. Othello chooses inexperienced Cassio to be his lieutenant, while he decides to give the ensign position to Iago, a malicious but very experienced man who, with his stealth and knavery, will ultimately ruin almost everyone's life since for a long time, he was desiring the position of lieutenant just like Cassio. At the end of the play, Othello, Desdemona, Iago's wife Emilia, and his sidekick Roderigo die due to his revenge against Cassio, for obtaining the position he wanted and Othello, for being the man who he hates the most. The play ends with Iago being told that he will be punished and tortured for his actions. • 10. Argumentative Essay On School Funding In the United States, public schools get their funding from their respective state. As a student, it can be seen as concerning when one compares how much states spend on their schools. Many schools are inadequate in both an aspect of safety and effectiveness of the learning environment. As a result of inadequate subsidy across America, schools resort to taking drastic measures. Not only are the unequal sources of subsidy a difficulty, but the concept and execution of budget cuts also exacerbate the issue. In order to give every student in America equal opportunities for success, funding should be controlled by the federal government with a policy that enforces equity rather than equality. This is also a viable option that could be carried...show more content... Cory Turner of National Public Radio, writer of Why America's Schools Have A Money Problem, has the answer; "...45 percent local money, 45 percent from the state and 10 percent federal...why is it that one Chicago–area district has $9,794 to spend on each of its students, while another, nearby district has three times that? Two words: property tax," (Turner 2). The authors of Equity Is the Key to Better School Funding, Marin Gjaja, J. Puckett, and Matt Ryder, say, "Giving kids in high–poverty areas an equal opportunity to succeed requires spending more money on those students," suggesting that in those low–income areas, local and state government regulations alone and predominately will not be beneficial (Gjaja, Puckett, and Ryder 1). Property taxes when associated with funding for education are insufficient in low income areas, and in return are insufficient for the school. Leaving local and state governments with the responsibility of fulfilling a majority of education costs is a concept we should correct. Turner also mentions that one Arizona school has four–day weeks to save money from electricity bills, as a result of poor rates of property taxes. Budget cuts also contribute to the impairment of districts with lower property taxes and lower income families, an implied point from Michael Leachman's article, Most States have Cut School Funding, and Some Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I mean, you're at the edge of your seat dying with loads of work, starving like a dying child, living off of pennies and the only thing that is keeping you from collapsing is your Starbucks drink that is filled with four shots of espresso, right? Well, by the time you get to the end of this letter, you'll thank me later for it. When you enter your English class, you will come across many assignments. They happen to be your annotated bibliography and your researched argument essay, or in other words RAE. The purpose of the bibliography is to critique sources and gather enough data for you essay. It includes citations, a summary of your topic and personal thoughts of the sources you chose. I learned that by annotating a certain part of the reading, it helped increase my understanding. Not only that but it helped me not miss a single bit of important information. Writing notes in the margins of the text was really helpful because it was a summary of the entire paragraph and whenever I would look back at my notes, it reminded me of what I read. Also, circling words I didn't know was very accommodating because again, it helped me understand the concept a bit more. Underlining words that seem important to you is a big tip I suggest because you are able to use that information when you are talking about your source. • 12. Mandatory Vaccination Argumentative Essay Mandatory vaccinations have been hotly debated in the United States for over two centuries, making the argument almost as old as the country itself. As early as 1809, Massachusetts became the first state to mandate the world's premiere vaccine. Authorities recognized the life–saving benefits of the smallpox vaccine. They chose to require inoculation to protect the community from further outbreaks. Public outrage ensued as some community members feared the new vaccine and believed they should be able to choose if they wished to receive it. The most vocal protestors formed anti–compulsory vaccination groups and were successful in getting laws overturned in many states. However, even the United States Supreme Court has upheld states' rights to require immunization. (A) Vaccinations should be...show more content... Despite significant progress in the fight against preventable disease, millions still die needlessly each year. According to UNICEF, originally known as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, a vaccine preventable disease is responsible for 2 million fatal infections worldwide each year. About 75% of these deaths occur in children under five years of age. (N) In more vivid terms, UNICEF notes that vaccine–preventable diseases kill a child every 20 seconds. (D) Due to high rates of childhood vaccination, the United States has experienced a dramatic reduction in such deaths. A comparison of the years 1950 and 2010 clearly illustrates the benefits of vaccinations. During this 60–year period, deaths from diphtheria reduced from 410 to 0, tetanus from 336 to 3, pertussis from 1,118 to 26, and polio from 1,904 to 0. Measles deaths dropped from 468 in 1950 to 0 in 2008, the last year a United States death rate was recorded. It's not surprising that vaccinations have been touted as one of the top ten health achievements of the 20th century by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Lives of human and animal species have been negatively affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions. "...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by nuclear submarines since the Cold War, according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September 2015, there would be no more sea ice. • 14. Argumentative Essay On School Start Time Every morning students in the United States feel the effects the early start time many schools have implemented. These students are lethargic and inattentive, due to the lack of sleep they are getting every night. Typically, adults see these characteristics as the result of teenagers staying up late watching Netflix or using their cell phones. Many reputable organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics, have researched this problem and found that teenagers are lacking in sleep due to biological and physiological changes that are occurring within their brains. These shifts cause students to be more inattentive and reckless, resulting in lower grades, tardiness, and higher rates of car...show more content... By requiring teenagers to wake up early, school officials are basically neglecting the health of their student bodies in favor of making their lives simpler. Despite the overwhelming evidence given by current research, many people refuse to change school start times because of the lack of noticeable impact some schools had or the impact it had on some people's schedules. Pannoni cites a statement by the Iowa City Community School District which found that "the later start time . . . [did] not reduce the number of tardy students by any appreciable amount." The principal of Ballard High School agreed by saying that he "would be surprised to see large improvements in either attendance or grade data compared with past years" (Pannoni). Many schools refused to change because of how the later start and dismissal times would affect extracurricular activities and students with jobs. This change would also interfere with bus schedules and childcare habits. However, these seem like small problems that can be overcome when the results are that "later school start times were associated with students sleeping longer at night, less tardiness, having higher test scores, being less depressed, using less caffeine and other drugs, . . . and experiencing fewer morning car crashes" (Fenwick). The most compelling evidence that shows changing school start Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Everyday these various symptoms must be overcome for them to enjoy their daily activities. Their article states, "Unlike a phobia, where your fear is connected to a specific thing or situation, the anxiety of generalized anxiety disorder is diffused–a general feeling of dread or unease that colors your whole life" (Smith, Segal). • 16. Argumentative Essay On 9 / 11 Every American citizen can remember exactly where they were on the day September 11, 2001, this day was burned into the mind of American because the biggest terrorist attack in American history would occur. Two Boeing planes hijacked by a terrorist organization named al–Qaeda who would crash the planes into the world trades centers, sending America into shock(Pizzo,2016). There have been countless laws and regulations passed in America since the awful terrorist attacks on 9/11, has it been effective or a failure. The attack on September 11, 2001, will forever be a turning point in American history, it raised one of the most important questions in American society today what is more import for a citizen freedom or security and the law put in place to combat these horrific terrorist attack ultimately would be ineffective and tear American more apart on political issues. The terrorist attacks on the world trades created many laws trying to prevent these from ever happing again, but what are these laws exactly? The major law that was put in place by the U.S government was the Patriot Act also known as the Anti–Terrorism Act of 2001; these laws would be the biggest expand of government in U.S history(Pizzo,2016). • 17. Argumentative Essay On Stereotyping Racial Stereotypes As a little girl, I was ashamed to be Indian. This was due to all the negative stereotypes surrounding my race. In my childhood, I heard people say Indians were smelly, stingy, and stuck up (alliteration). In fear of being teased and misjudged, I tried to be as "normal" as possible to make everyone forget that I was Indian (pathos). As I grew older, I learned to be proud of who I am, but disregarding stereotypes is still a challenge. I am sure everyone in this room has been affected by racial stereotypes before and believe me, I know what you are going through (ethos). You may think that only bigoted and prejudiced people used stereotypes, however, recent studies have shown that everyone categorizes people on a daily basis without even realizing it. Most people think stereotypes are just jokes, yet research proves that stereotypes have serious negative effects. People should stop stereotyping because stereotypes cause "stereotype threats", create social division, and lead to racism (parallelism). The first effect of stereotyping is a phenomenon known as "stereotype threat" that occurs in a situation where a person is in fear of unintentionally confirming a negative stereotype. Several studies have been conducted to discover the effects of stereotype threats. For example, I discovered that Toni Schmader, an assistant professor of the UA psychology department, and Michael Johns, a UA graduate (ethos), conducted studies that showed, "college women score lower on tests of mathematical ability, and Hispanic students might score lower on tests of intelligence, not because they have less ability, but because reminders of negative stereotypes temporarily decrease their 'working memory capacity' (UA News Services, "Exploring the Negative Consequences of Stereotyping", UANews.Arizona.edu)." This demonstrates that the students did not do worse on the test due to their lack of skills, but rather due to negative stereotypes. In a similar study by professors Claude Steele and Joshua Aronson, African American and White college students took the same intelligence test under two conditions. In the stereotype threat condition the students were told the test would evaluate their intelligence, and in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Argumentative Essay On Autism Let's say you have a box of crayons. It represents ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), now inside the box you have different colors of crayons. Each color/crayon is a different disorder. The color we want to talk about today is teal, the official color for autism. Stuart Duncan once said, "Autism, like a rainbow, has a bright side and a dark side and even though it can mean rough waters it can be beautiful." Autism isn't a label, it's a diagnoses. People with autism can be just as successful as neurotypical people. People with autism have been the subject of stereotypes and neglect for decades. Only in the last 150 years or so have things started to change. We don't know what causes autism, but thanks to increased research and awareness we're making more progress than ever. People with autism face many challenges everyday, autism is a spectrum. It's not the same for everyone. Due to it being a spectrum it can be hard for people without autism to understand the challenges autistic people face, and how to go about interacting with autistic people. There are lots of autistic people worldwide, it's time we start making them feel more like people. 1 in 68 people in the US have autism, this includes 1 in 189 girls and 1 in 42 boys. Autism is a difference in perception; technically it's a developmental disorder that is the result of a difference in brain chemicals. Scientists don't know what causes autism or why it's stayed in the human gene pool for so long. People with autism could have a wide variety of symptoms, but some of the most common characteristics are fixations on things they like, reliance on routines, and lack of social skills. Autism can be formally diagnosed at ages as young as 3. There is no medical test to diagnose autism, rather a trained professional in the psychology field will perform a developmental screening and a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. When a child is diagnosed with autism, therapy is strongly recommended. The earlier treatment starts the better because certain aspects of the disorder can be lessened through therapy. Therapy helps the mind and the body, certain therapies can help rebuild your brain, so to speak. Autistic brains are physically different than neurotypical ones. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Argumentative Essay On Veganism Running head: RESEARCH ESSAY In today's society, there are many different diets that people can follow. One of those diets is called veganism. People who follow this diet refuse to consume meat or other animal products, including eggs and dairy. Veganism is becoming more and more popular for a number of reasons. Some people go vegan because they do not want to be responsible for cruelty against animals. Others choose the vegan diet for their health or to help protect the environment. No matter what the reason, the truth is clear: the vegan diet is simply the best choice. It is better for animals, better for us, and better for the Earth. Farm animals' lives are degrading, painful, and they endure a lot of abuse. The majority of our meat ...show more content... In addition to their clean consciences, vegans can boast of healthy bodies. A meat–heavy diet can be disastrous for one's health. The World Health Organization, for instance, has linked red and processed meats to colorectal cancer (O'Connor, October 2015). Plant–based diets, on the other hand, benefit our bodies in many ways. The advantages of avoiding meat are summarized in a recent article from The Duke Health Medicine News: "Vegetarian dietary patterns are associated with lower body mass, lower prevalence and incidence of diabetes mellitus, lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its components (abdominal obesity, elevated blood pressure and fasting blood sugar, high triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol levels), lower hypertension, lower all–cause mortality, and in some cases, lower risk of cancer" ("Vegetarian Diets", 2015, p. 4). A vegan diet offers all of the above benefits, as well as several that aren't associated with vegetarianism: "Compared to lacto–ovo–vegetarian diets, vegan diets seem to provide some added protection against obesity, hypertension, type–2 diabetes; and cardiovascular mortality" (Le & SabatГ©, 2014, p. 2142). Despite these facts, many people remain skeptical. That vegans can obtain all the nutrients their bodies need, such as protein. This skepticism is unfounded: legumes, tofu, and other staples of the vegan diet provide plenty of protein. For example, according to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Argumentative Essay On Renewable Energy Renewability For nearly everyone on earth, fossil fuels are a part of our daily lives. Some of the more obvious places to find petroleum products would be gas and diesel in cars and trucks, but it is in more than just your tank. Without fossil fuels, we would not have things such as plastic to make a wide variety of things such as tires, kayaks, or even computers. The question remains, do we need fossil fuels? In this day and age, we have new energy sources that could be used to power our homes and transportation. Wind and solar power are used all over the world, but are still used far less than fossil fuels. Most would say it's not reliable or it doesn't make any profit. While both statements are true, it doesn't mean we can't make a better future using renewable energy. In fact, the only reason we don't use renewables for everything is that we don't want to change. The hard truth is we need to change. Fossil fuels are great right now, but if we run out, humanity must have another source of energy. Renewable energy may seem like a daunting task, but the benefits to humanity could be incredible. Public uses of renewable energy range from transportation all the way to heating and cooling. Everything we use could become less explosive and less expensive. Cities with a high concentration of people could become safer and healthier places to live. Transportation could be converted to electricity dramatically, improving smog conditions. Global warming may or may not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
