EFFECTS IT HAS ON THE U.S.
By Sharifah Christie, Kadarius Macon, and
Collin Pereira
2. SHARIFAH CHRISTIE
Research Question
-How would the United Nation Arms
Treaty change the constitutional rights
of Americans?"
3. WHY I CHOSE THAT TOPIC
-Since our group topic had to do with the U.N. in relations
to the United States, a question involving the Arms Treaty
was a perfect example of something from the U.N. that
can affect the U.S.
4. MY ARGUMENT
-The United Nations Arms Treaty would affect
the Constitutional Rights of America by
changing the second amendment, which is the
right to bear arms.
5.
6. MY RESEARCH & EVALUATION
• The book called The Constitution, helped me during research because it
had the entire Constitution including the second amendment in a
detailed manner to support how the Arms Treaty would affect our
constitutional rights.
• The article called "U.N. Arms Trade Treaty Will Harm Us, Let
Others Go Free,” was useful for my research because it describes
how the Arms Treaty will affect Americans' freedom if it is passed.
• The website http://blog.chron.com/bakerblog/2012/08/u-n-arms-
trade-treaty-a-threat-to-the-2nd-amendment/ helped me during
research because it informed me about the Arms Treaty related to
the second amendment.
7. RESEARCH & EVALUATION
CONT’D
I decided that all three sources mentioned
were relevant and credible, because:
• Book- professional & reliable;
government book
• Article- trustworthy & peer-reviewed;
scholarly article
• Website- had the correct information I
needed to see how the second
amendment would be affected by the
Arms Treaty.
8. COLLIN PEREIRA
Research Question
-Can the United Nations legally supersede the sovereignty of the
United States through the use of international treaties?
-The United Nations was created and accepted by each
individual nation that participates in it activities.
-Does this mean that nations are directed by the U.N?
9. MY ARGUMENT
-The United States has the ability to decide what treaties it
adheres to.
-According to U.S. constitutional law no legislation can be passed
without going through both the Senate and House of
representatives. It must then be approved by the president.

Ideas supported by our current president and his administration.
