Why You Should Get a Gaming Console Instead of a Gaming PC
New jailbreak method for ps3 for 2012
1. New jailbreak method for ps3 for 2012
A Look back through the history of the PS3 jailbreaks
Jailbreaking of the Playstation 3 has taken many forms over time. There was many efforts to
make a working Ps3 Jailbreak. Original exploits used on the actual integrated Java in
BlueRay menus. Regrettably not anything could be found so that you can run backups. By
then the otheros feature was included by Sony to enable Linux on the console What this
meant was a solution to run tools to look at the actual PS3 software It wasn’t long until
Geohot posted "hello hypervisor, im geohot" to his blog. Sony responded by announcing that
otheros is going to be removed in update 3.21. The things was first regarded as a bad april
fools joke turned out to be real with the removal of otheros After this the PS3 scene slowed to
a crawl then with very little to move it forward. Much of the blame online was aimed towards
Geohot himself.
With very little big press release just one video clip showed up on you tube demonstrating a
brand new PS3 Jailbreak dongle. News of this spread like wildfire. Many sites were initially
claiming it would be a fake. but as more details was released it became clear that this was
indeed the real deal. Pre orders for the PSJailbreak dongle were huge. The huge demand
saw many people without a dongle for weeks. The key problem was fixed with firmware 3.56
released quickly by Sony Only approved USB devices could not be connected to the PS3.
With the USB port now blocked the dongle wouldnt work on newer firmware. But it did mean
however all games up to that point could now be backed up. Without a firmware spoofer it
was not impossible to go online with PSN. With christmas on the way the new rush of game
releases would need updated firmware to play, Gran Turismo 5 was the first big release not
to work. This required the new higher firmware to run
It took a while to get the game working by patching the eboot but by Christmas it was
payable. CCC saw failoverflow announce to the world Sony's mistake in public key
generating. New years eve and the next day saw the scene light up with the first news of the
public keys. The first true PS3 “hello world” released by Geohot on 1st January Not long after
that he released his jailbreak pup. This one small pup file removed the key checks enabling
both homebew and PSN access. A nice method to run backups was discovered using this
jailbreak. Still the sweetest looking even today! One infamous CFW from Wanikoto caused
many bricks but most went for the Keamw release.
For 2 months users enjoyed backups and playing them online. Suddenly cheating was a real
problem with online games for the PS3 More server monitoring was included in the games to
catch the cheaters. It was around this time that unknown to Sony someone breached their
PSN servers. The details of 50 million PSN users were stolen Realising what has happened
Sony shut down the entire network. Sony took nearly two months to get PSN back online
Once it came back the added security meant forget about PSN for CFW users. For the
average user accessing the network was too difficult. As new games come out they are
uplayable due to firmware restrictions.
2. Once more the PS3 scene started to go into limbo until a new dongle was released by true
blue. Special DRM in the dongle meant you had to run specific versions of the game. How
much this had to do with Paradox is unknown but they were to release the Eboots. Duplex
became famous for a large release of PSN games sparking rumors that they had the new
keys. The exact method TureBlue were using to resign the Eboots could only be guessed at,
something sort of confirmed a bit later as the 3.60 keys themselves were leaked. The 3.60
keys didnt however lead to a new firmware as by now the OFW was up to 4.11. Obviously
Duplex didnt like the built in DRM of the TB dongle and commenced to try to crack it.
Remarkably, they succeeded and then started releasing tb free eboots. TB claimed to be
about to release an update for their dongle with new games but this never came to light Is
this the end of the trueblue dongle? Another big development to note is the new found ability
to convert from CEX to DEX. Debug consoles or Dev Units will run code without being signed
by Sony's keys. Or course the drawback of the ps3 dex unit is it will never be able to access
psn. For PSN access and game backups there is only really one option PS3 Jailbreak 4.21 is
what is currently required. The great thing about that is retaining access to PSN with the
ability to backup games. It should be noted as well that by access to PSN this must still
include the ability to purchase from the store.
