Mosquitoes are tiny flying insect that transmit terrible disease to both
humans and animals globally, mosquito-transmitted diseases remain a
main source of illnesses and deaths worldwide. It has been established that
the use of chemical repellents is not safe for public health and should be
used with caution due to their negative effects. That is why we came up
with the concept to create a natural mosquito repellent. The concept of
employing natural mosquito repellent product as a substitute to create new
eco-friendly repellents might be a way to reduce the negative impacts on
the environment and human health.

3. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
• People are afflicted with the illnesses and viruses that
mosquitoes spread, including malaria, dengue, and zika,
which can be fatal if left untreated. In addition to diseases
that affect humans, the use of commercial mosquito
repellents has been linked to a number of health and
environmental hazards due to the discharge of hazardous
substances. It cause skin irritation, allergies, inflammation,
rashes, and dizziness.
5. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
• Our research focuses on the
effectiveness of natural insect repellent,
whether it is superior to commercial
products or not, whether it is risk-free for
usage on people and if it is safer to use
in the environment. The method of
applying this repellent against
mosquitoes will be by spraying.
6. SIGNIFANCE OF THE STUDY
• You can avoid being bitten by mosquitoes that carry
allergens and diseases by using an insect repellent. The
body is protected from insect bites with the potential to
have local or systemic consequences by the use of insect
repellents. our mosquito repellent doesn’t have any
chemicals that causes dangerous side effects on humans
whereas all ingredients are natural, it is safe for your health
and body because organic alternatives do not contain
harsh chemicals making them easier on your health and
your body and even your pets.
8. METHODOLOGY
PROCEDURE
Prepare the materials
needed
Cut the citronella
into pieces
Place the Citronella
grass in a small pot
and add 2 cups of
water
Then, add 4
tablespoon of
Coconut oil
Boil the
citronella grass
with coconut oil
for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, cool
it down and transfer
it in the spray bottle
9. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION
After making the homemade mosquito replellant, we tried to test it in an
secluded room or area in our house where we can find a lot of mosquito
insects. We sprayed and close the door for at least one hour or two the
observe if there arer changes and if the product is effective. By opening the
room, we notice that after spraying the homemade mosquito repellant, the
mosquito inside the room lessens.
Citronella grass or sometimes called Mosquito grass is a clump-forming
perennial grass that is planted as an annual in cooler climates. It is a popular
material since it has a natural ability to repel mosquitos through the oil it
produces. Because citronella grass includes a carbon dioxide and lactic acid,
that helps mask the odors that mosquitos use to seek victims.
10. RECOMMENDATIONS
People all over the world suffered and died due to mosquitoes
for hundreds of years. They suffered from various diseases that
mosquito carries like dengue, malaria and zika virus, that is why
mosquito repellent have been created to avoid mosquito bites.
Sadly, It has been established that the use of repellents is not
safe for public health and should be used with caution due to
the harsh chemicals in the repellent. It is recommended that
using plant-based repellent should be used because They are
chemical-free, as effective as commercial ones and is safe for
human health and environment
