1. New nutrition and fitness firm is shaping up.
A NEW nutrition and fitness business is now shaping up in the
region after getting a helping hand from start-up programme Ready for
Business.
Former Newcastle College student turned entrepreneur Michael
Weston, 22, has set up Blast Nutrition in Chester-le-Street, County
Durham.
Weston received guidance on setting up in business from James Craft
at enterprise agency TEDCO Business Support.
Ready for Business is an investment search engines ready start-up programme that
supports new enterprises across the UK. It has already helped more than
1,500 people into work nationwide since its launch last summer. More
than 200 of those jobs were created in the North East.
The programme is supported by the Government's Regional Growth
Fund and Barclays and is delivered by the Cavendish Consortium.
Weston said; "I have always had an interest in health and
fitness and was keen to develop my own business which allowed me best search sites to
utilise my qualifications with my own extensive sales http://nih.gov/ experience. Whilst
I was confident about the retail aspect of the business, I felt it was
essential to get guidance on the intricacies involved in actually
running your own venture.."
2. Weston - with the support of business partner Chris Timmins of F1
Signs Digital in Team Valley - has ambitious plans for the future
of Blast Nutrition with branches across the North East and the
development of his own brand protein powder is also high on the agenda.
He also aims to take on another member of staff."
