2. Course Proposal
• Due to the new Intervention and Enrichment
class period during the day, there is a decrease
in the amount of time we have to teach the
content areas of Social Studies and Science.
• I am proposing to teach the Plants and Animals
section of our Science curriculum online to our
4th grade students.
• This course will incorporate the content and
many skills students need to learn for their
future. These skills include flexibility,
accountability, and organization.
3. Course Highlights
• Videoconferences
– Students will have the opportunity every week to participate in
an optional videoconference with their teacher to discuss that
week’s content and assignments.
• Online Discussion Board
– Students will get to reflect to questions each week asked by the
teacher. They will also be able to respond to classmates posts.
• Virtual Field Trips
– Students will take a virtual field trip through the woods.
• Self-Guided Labs and Field Trip
– Water Cycle Lab
– Make Your Own Terrestrial Ecosystem
– Make Your Own Aquatic Ecosystem (real life or virtual)
– A Walk Through Your Neighborhood Woods
