Writing a Teaching Philosophy
Learning is a way to acquire new knowledge either through experiences or through the
study. We have different ways to learn, for this reason a teacher needs to be able to
identify the best option in order to achieve a meaningful knowledge.
Be a teacher is a hard job. I chose to be a teacher because I love sharing what I know to
other people. I think to be a teacher implies more than transmit content, it implies to
have integrity, be able to transmit values and other things. I mean, the work of a teacher
goes forward because they can change the society. They have in their hands and
important job.
According to my experience I could say that there are a lot of students that do not like
the English subject even they do not like the teacher, I want to change this. I want to be
a friend of my students, I want they do not be afraid of ask me something. I want they
enjoy my classes.
I think that the best methodology to teach is creating learning environments that
encourage the participation of students. This method is essential because students will
not be afraid to ask something they will have all the confidence to express what they
think and give their own point of view of any topic.
More than to be a teacher I would like to be a friend for students and be able to give
them all the confidence for allowing them express themselves. I will do everything
possible so that students love the subjects than I will dictate instead that students hate
the subjects.
I consider assessment an indispensable aspect of the learning process because it allows
us to know what students have learned and we as teachers what we can change to
develop our classes. I consider the traditional assessment is a useful method but I would
change some aspects of it. I would require a critical analysis from by the students; more
than just content memorized.
To move forward with my career I think it is necessary to keep learning more. Be a
teacher requires a life-long term learning. It is necessary because we will teach others
and we must have advanced knowledge and we always will be a mentor or a guide to
students. For this reason I would like to get a PHD to continue training myself.
