2. WHAT DO I FIND INTERESTING
ABOUT DEVELOPMENTAL
PSYCHOLOGY?
3. I find psychology interesting for many reasons, here
are a few.
-Better understanding of yourself
-Knowing how your body works and grows as a whole
-Learn more about children
-Understanding how children think and why they think that way
-Better understanding on how to act with children
-Understand the actions of children and why they act that way
4. -Understanding the development of life better
-Understanding how the life cycle works and how we grow
-Understanding what a “norm” is
-The difference between nature and nurture
-The Understanding of the deeper meaning of things
-Restaurants use the color red to draw customers in because red is a “excitement”
color
5. -The understanding of feelings and why we have them
When we feel a certain way sometimes we cant always describe it to a friend, by
learning psychology it can help us express our emotions and helps us understand
why we are feeling this way.
- I love learning new facts about the brain and its functions
All of the different ways the brain does things, between the phobias, mental
disorders, and cognitive disorders. I enjoy learning about all the ways that people
see things in the world.
7. Psychology helps people notice things about themselves and others.
It brings a reality to truly understanding your emotions and other
peoples emotions as well. Here are a few ways that developmental
psychology will be relevant to me in everyday life.
1. Fantasizing about future motivation
Thinking about motivation in the future and all the things you have to do can
actually make you more likely to not want to achieve them. By just focussing on the
things that are at that time will help you get things done more efficiently and
effectively.
2. Choice Blindness
In everyday life we choose not to see certain things around us. By realizing this I
will start to pay more attention to the fine details
8. 3. Keeping down your thoughts.
Holding in your thoughts can be more harmful than more people think. This is bad
habit to get into, since it is easier not to tell people how you feel. Although, it
makes your everyday situations much easier and makes your relationships with
others easier.
4. Multitasking Skills
This will help me because in every workplace situation you almost have to be able
to multi task. Your job can get a bit over whelming sometimes but knowing how to
control your emotions and multitask will be beneficial.
5. Handling the little things
Sometimes it’s the little things in life that can make or break a person. Knowing this
can help keep one calm or focussed on the task that they need to complete.
9. HOW WILL THIS CONTENT BE
USEFUL TO YOU IN YOUR
PROFESSIONAL LIFE?
10. Developmental Psychology will be helpful in my
professional life for these reasons:
-Children cant be told constantly that they are the best
They cant be told they are the best at everything because eventually they will get
the perception that they are doing the best they can. When in reality they can
always have room for improvement.
- Emotions change depending on the surrounding of the situation
When adults are around children they are less prompt to do something bad, but
when they are just around other kids they are more likely to do something bad.
11. -Children that play videos games are more likely to be more creative
The children that play videos games can be more creative and more willing to try
new things. The videos games make them feel like they are invincible, so in real life
they are willing to try new things and put themselves out there.
-Understanding relationships and well being
This will help me understand the students attitudes and why they are acting certain
ways towards the other children and the teachers.
-Help me get a job
When a work place knows you have taken a psychology class they will be more
willing know hire you. Reasoning are because of the knowledge and understandings
of development you have. You understanding sometimes why some emotions are
expressed versus other emotions.
12. -Critical Thinking
Focussing on the way that the people around you are acting upon certain situations.
-I will always be thinking about the close relationship between nature
and nurture when working with children and even other adults at the
work place.
-Vulnerabilities and protective factors are hugely impacting the way
the children are raised and this will effect the way that I will be
helping kids when I’m an Educational Assistant.
-Obedience to Authority
Reacting to how others treat you and how they react to how you treat them
