The company's growing businesses intelligence platform is a great marketing strategy that will open many doors (Wilms, 2012). Threats Other SaaS
service providers are offering cheaper prices for their assistance, which can pose a threat to SAPs market. Customers are becoming more likely to
utilize other more affordable forms of help for their investments, etc. (Zolman, 2012). SAPs clients trust them with extremely valuable information such
as company security codes and much more. This makes them a prime target for hackers to try and infiltrate the companies system. The number of
security vulnerabilities has risen dramatically over time (Nunez). Recommendation #1: SAP must spend time developing new methods and technology
that will ensure the security of them and more importantly their faithful clientele. Recommendation #2: SAP should try to find less expensive data

The Theory Of Social Enterprise
When I first start on this module, I feel really odd about what exactly a social enterprise is. In our daily life, there are tens of thousands businesses
among us, but I have never thought about what makes those business exits, what aims they are trying to achieve and what kind of business they are.
When thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run the business in a long term if it is not profit driven, and how they maintain the
daily operation with perhaps very little social capital investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar preparations
and workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre's visit and learning packs of various social concepts from different groups day by day.
What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by Pearce (2003). The diagram is totally new to me but
it is not that hard to understand. The diagram divides the economy into three systems and each of which can be seen to be based on deferent
principles and values. Each system is about a different way of managing the economy. The first system can be referred to as the private sector, it is
profit driven and their principle is to maximize returns for private shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace, meeting needs
through the production of goods and the provision of services by companies. The second system can be conventionally referred to as the public sector.

its enterprises:
Synergy
The integrated network of BRAC Enterprises, Development Programs and Investments together beget a unique synergy and essentially create a 2+2=5
Effect. The surpluses generated by the social enterprises make BRAC more self–sustaining so that increasing numbers of poor people can become
self–reliant.
Cross Collaboration
BRAC enterprises maximize synergy, impact and value by their targeted outreach and integrative products and services across multiple enterprises.
Cross Subsidy
Although BRAC enterprises aim for financial returns while fulfilling the social and environmental missions, not all enterprises are equally profitable.

The Cloud Based Saas Model Essay
Lately, large organizations as well as small startups are focusing on the enterprise segment. Once consumer only products like iPhone (for business)
and Android (for work) are now enterprise ready and widely used for businesses by the large organizations. Besides, the business model shift from a
"legacy" on–premises to the cloud based SaaS model is true and that is enabling both, businesses as well as vendors, to be agile, reduce maintenance
/ownership cost and quickly scale to the evolving business demands. It 's not surprising that nowadays virtually every enterprise software offers a flavor
of cloud/SaaS solution.

Though as of today most of the enterprise softwares are still sold traditionally where CIO/CXO and business relations play crucial roles, but the
market shift, workforce sentiment/satisfactions can 't be ignored for long. As a result, big players and leaders in the segment are changing and pulling
up their sleeves to deliver equally modern and competitive products. Contrary to what Paul Graham said in 2007, today enterprise software companies
are trying to be technology companies.
However, building enterprise software always has been challenging. In my opinion, consumer grade products have been influential in bringing
progressive trends, looks and simplification to these otherwise complex systems. The same folks working at sizable organizations use latest devices,

The Outsourcing Of Blackberry 's Public Image
Company Profile
BlackBerry, previously known as Research in Motion (RIM), is a global company in the telecommunications industry. Founded in 1984, the company
saw huge success in the early age of the smart phones. The company offers various cell–phone related devices as well as enterprise services, including
security. Although BlackBerry's cell phone success has dwindled in current years, its new CEO, John Chen, has made steps to improve profits and
change the company's focus to enterprise software suites and security.
Problems
Minimal Market Share
BlackBerry's Market Share has been reduced to less than 1%. In an industry dominated by two major companies, BlackBerry is highly unlikely to gain
a larger percentage of the market,
Outdated Perceptions of BlackBerry
BlackBerry's public image is outdated. Many people think of BlackBerry as a failed cell phone OS company, especially with recent news of disabled
Facebook support on its devices after 2016.
Solutions
Overhaul Branding Strategy
BlackBerry has a lot of value–enterprise software suites. Many do not realize the company's has a successful global reach. BlackBerry needs to
revamp its brand to highlight its security expertise, including its new cybersecurity service following the acquisition of UK–based Encription Ltd.
BlackBerry's image should focus on appealing to the services it provides on an enterprise level. A rebranding will allow business customers and
investors alike to see the value BlackBerry provides. See the

The Proliferation Of Crises Around The World
The proliferation of crises around the world has led to a prominent increase in the fascination, as well as interest, in the concept of "social
entrepreneurship". In today's society, this concept has inspired numerous individuals to pursue a career being social entrepreneur as it promises to
solve some of the world's toughest problems while earning money and gaining social status. That being said, these are often the individuals/agencies
that are exempted from public examination as they are seen doing "valuable work". With that in mind, Daniela Papi– Thornton (2016) in her article,
"Tackling Heropreneruship", critiques this industry by claiming that we are emerging into an area of heropreneurship in which being anentrepreneur

Consequently, this has led to an era of heropreneurship in which many individuals inspire to become entrepreneurs who claim that they can solve these
problems. Due to its heroic and feel good appeal, many individuals work towards creating an "attractive" social enterprise or demand jobs with a
"social purpose". Nonetheless, while heropreneurship can be seen as an inspiring and exciting era, there is room for further improvement. First, due to
heropreneurship, the line between quick solutions and progress has been blurred. While tackling these problems is considered a noble deed and
personally valuable, many individuals are not working towards solving the root of the problems that occur in the affected countries. Rupert Scofield
(2011) in his text, "The Social Entrepreneurs Handbook" explains "but to really help them, you have to get to know them, walk in their shoes. You
would be surprised at the number of organizations that espouse this or that noble cause in which the personnel seem only dimly acquainted with the
facts on the ground" (5). It is apparent that many individuals often prioritize short term solutions and disguise it as a long term because they do not
fully understand all aspects of the problem. It is important to realize that implementing successful and sustainable solutions involves hard work.
Investigating the root cause of the problem, as well as researching existing solutions and their strengths and weaknesses is critical when attempting to

Samsung Competitive Advantage
Further development of the enterprise depends on way it performs under outer factors of the market. Regarding Porter's model of business competition
forces, the company's position is analyzed throughout five aspects (Mind Tools Editor Team, 2016). There is a significant threat of the new
competitions as this company is not the only retailer company in the world of electronics and gadgets. Buyer's' behavior defines the future
effectiveness of the company as it mostly depends on the way representatives of the target market are ready to buy top–notch products by Apple and
Samsung. On this level of business performance, individual success of the company is closely connected with the way these companies present
themselves and their products on the market. At the same time, the position of the enterprise's suppliers is vital as they define the competitiveness and
variety of goods to present to the customers. Finally, the competitiveness between the existing members of the market my significantly influences the
GWEL's performance throughout the first several years. Apparently, the GWEL expects to invest a significant amount of income into further
development of the company for the following five years concerning strong positions of the competitors on the market. To get a competitive advantage,

Reshaping DTV's Culture
Making Millenials proud DTV employees and customers by reshaping DTV's culture
TARGET: To attach a 'wow cool' factor to DTV brand and make it more appealing to the Millenials, representing employees and customers, to increase
sales (by developing innovative products) and reduce churn rate (by building customer–centric DNA). This will, in turn, increase DTV's growth and
efficiency.
To enhance the connection between individual employees' roles and the organization's strategy.
To constantly surprise customers with new products and turn them into proud DTV customers.
'Whether to manage a company for growth or for efficiency is a classic dilemma, and the choice isn't simple.'
DIRECTV faces this challenge of rebooting its corporate culture by encouraging innovative projects over the short term safe–and–profitable projects.
PwC predicts that by 2016, almost 80 percent of its workforce will be composed of Millennials and it will also represent a majority of consumers.
Therefore, it is an important challenge to look ahead and figure out what drives Millenials both from customers' and employees' perspective. In order
to appeal to Millenials, we need to have a 'wow cool' factor. For this, we should reshape the corporate culture by building customer–centric DNA,
provide greater flexibility, promote diversity, make a difference to them and appreciate them.

The Idea Of Social Entrepreneurship
On the idea of social entrepreneurship
The idea of social entrepreneurship implies diverse things to various individuals and analysts (Dees, 1998). One gathering of scientists alludes to social
enterprise as not–revenue driven activities looking for option financing methodologies, or administration plans to make social worth (Austin,
Stevenson, and Wei–Skiller, 2003; Boschee, 1998). A second gathering of analysts comprehends it as the socially mindful routine of business
organizations occupied with cross–area associations (Sagawa and Segal, 2000; Waddock, 1988). Also, a third gathering seessocial business as a way to
reduce social issues and catalyze social change (Alvord et al., 2004).
It is vital to take note of the theoretical contrasts between definitions. Meanings of social entrepreneurship normally allude to a procedure or conduct;
meanings of social entrepreneurship people center rather on the author of the activity; and meanings of social endeavors allude to the unmistakable
result of social enterprise. In spite of the huge number of definitions, precise endeavors to guide activities and definitions are uncommon (see Boschee
(1995) and Waddock and Post (1995), for two exemptions). While integral definitions, every concentrating on various parts of the wonder, are not as a
matter of course a hindrance in the quest for hypothesis, despite everything we don 't have a complete photo of the marvel and do not have an
unmistakable comprehension of how social business

Social Entrepreneurship
Rose Spiegel Rationale 5.7.13 Everyone describes social entrepreneurship differently. While many have been able to describe the traits and features of a
social entrepreneur there doesn't seem at all to be a consensus about the definition of what constitutes the field of social entrepreneurship. Susan Davis
and David Bornstein in their book, Social Entrepreneurship: What Everyone Needs to Know define social entrepreneurship as "a process by which
citizens build or transform institutions to advance solutions to social problems such as poverty, illness, illiteracy, environmental destruction, human
rights abuses and corruption (1). The NYU Reynolds Program defines it differently saying "Social entrepreneurship is a form of leadership that... Show

I believe that the potential of social entrepreneurship extends far beyond the creation of a new sector compromised of profit–seeking entities that
achieve social and environmental good through their products and services. In fact, I believe that the principles of social entrepreneurship hold the
greatest value for the pre–existing structures that are already in place. My personal interests in social entrepreneurship are in how the principles and
practices of the field can be applied to nonprofits and the current private sector. Often social entrepreneurship is seen as a break away from traditional
modes of social change, namely the work done by nonprofits. It's supposed superiority stems from its focus on efficiency, innovation, and
sustainability. Like many proponents of social entrepreneurship, I too, find the traditional models in the social sector to be insufficient for creating the
type of changes that our society desperately needs. I found myself growing more and more skeptical of the ability of traditional non–profits to make
social change. Finding funding often seemed to take precedent over alleviating poverty and I constantly felt that the change we were making was
insufficient, superficial and unsustainable. When I came to NYU I was near ready to wash my hands of this "social change" business and pursue
something else that might interest me, but my new path to study Media Culture and

Ensuring that the software is compatible with the systems that are in place today is also a critical step to making the transition smoother. The high
score in the architecture compatibility area shows that this provider took that into consideration as well. Provider1 was also able to customize the
off–the–shelf package to meet the requirements that Harley Davidson has developed when the "best practices" fell short. Since the company had
already established specific goals that they needed this software to accomplish, looking at the overall functionality of the package is imperative.
The qualitative areas that addressed this issue were "overall functionality," "technical support offerings," and "web functionality to go." Provider1
and Provider2 scored as high as possible in these first two areas. However, Provider2 already caries a software solution for the web functionality
.The reason that I feel Provider1 is still the best option is because they understand that this will be a necessary component of Harley Davidson's
needs. They have developed a work around for this problem with a partner solution that will help them meet all their needs. Since there is no perfect
functional fit offered by the three final providers, the ability to problem solve and develop solutions is a key factor to consider in the decision. Beyond

Increase Employee Productivity With Technology
Increase Employee Productivity with Technology Staying ahead of the competition and increasing profits are the fundamental objectives for every
organization. However, many firms today continue to invest extensively in business development activities and less on employee productivity. This
mindset ignores the firm's chief asset and its core foundation, its workforce. The fact is employee productivity can make or break a firm, and a firm
staffed with underperforming employees will inevitably fail regardless of the amount invested into business development. Many firms that do recognize
the importance of employee productivity often invest in improving the corporate culture, but overlook investing in the right tools that result in
increased productivity. Sure, they have the latest coffee maker, but what they don't have are the technology–based tools employees use daily to perform
the functions of their jobs. The goal of this whitepaper is to challenge employers to evaluate the way they currently use technology and identify if
they are aiding or impeding employee productivity. Based on our experience and research, many firms seem satisfied with using their antiquated
systems or the fear of change and learning a new system is simply too overwhelming. they are simply uncomfortable with upgrading and learning a
new system. The problem with this is that technology is rapidly evolving and what works today is not necessarily going to work tomorrow. Let's face

Green Winter Through The Kick Starter Website
In efforts to grow the Seedfolk City Farm, Barker initiated Operation Green Winter through the kick–starter website, Indiegogo. This was a
community–focused urban agriculture project that helped raise funds to continue operating the greenhouses during the winter. It also enabled them to
provide consistent year–round after–school employment for four of the young people that helped to get the project off the ground. This campaign was
in addition to several community events held in efforts to raise money for the "green winter". This was as a result of weather implications in Rochester,
NY, which prevented them from growing fresh fruits and vegetables. The pilot aquaponic farming system would "winterize" the greenhouse by
sustaining a year–round farming operation that enabled them to triple production capabilities with four new vertical grow beds. Not only did the
money raised help physically make these changes possible, but it also provided the youth with more after school activities as a result of these
expansions.
ProsperRochester has relied on its partnerships to achieve its goals. In order to establish these greenhouses, ProsperRochester teamed up with In The
City/Off The Grid. ICOG is a Rochester–based cooperative business that offers solar installation services and general construction services, while
engaging in community development projects and employee training. Thankfully, ICOG was able to assist with building and provide solar panels for
the greenhouses.

Building Social Business By Muhammad Yunus
I.Introduction
Building Social Business is a book about social enterprise written by Muhammad Yunus. Muhammad Yunus is a social entrepreneur, economist, banker,
and civil servant leader from Bangladesh. He is known for founding the Grameen Bank which is a microfinance organization and community
development bank. Yunus is a well–known proponent of microfinance and microcredit. Due to his efforts in making a change through microfinance
and microcredit and other noble causes, Yunus has been given several awards including the Independence Day Award in 1987, World Food Price in
1994, Pfeffer Peace Price also in 1994, Gandhi Peace Price in 2000, Volvo Environment Prize in 2003, Nobel Peace Prize in 2006, Presidential Medal

Through this book, Yunus shows howsocial business is applied in the current business setting. Yunus also explains how the social business model could
redeem the failed promise of the free enterprise model.
III.Reflection
After reading the first two chapters of Building Social Business, I was moved. I was inspired. Yunus opened my eyes to another side of business
which in his words was selfless. And indeed it was selfless. Social business is truly selfless because it focuses on helping others and earning profit
comes second. By reading this book and reflecting, I realized it is better to be part of the solution than be part of the problem. By looking at my
community, at my environment, and at my experiences in life, there are problems that will need solutions and I firmly believe that having a social
business is the solution. By my observation, slow public utilities, expensive medicine, and empowering marginalized sectors are problems that can be
solved by putting up social businesses. By combining entrepreneurial mindset and experience, social awareness, and creativity, the ideal social business
can be done. But what makes a social business truly a social business is the

Collecting data on social entrepreneurs is problematic for a number of reasons. For instance, the nascency of the field means that there are relatively
few (as compared with fields like commercial entrepreneurship or family firms) potential subjects for those wanting to study founders of social
ventures. Moreover, due to the global nature of the field, social entrepreneurs tend to be a disbursed group. Add to this the fact that there is little
government–mandated public information on most social enterprises (as is the case with publically–traded firms, for example), and one can understand
why few empirical studies on social entrepreneurship have gone beyond case studies. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

include providing services or training to socially deprived or disabled persons, using profits for socially oriented purposes, organising self–help groups

using earned income strategies. 990s are the tax forms that nonprofit organizations must file each year. Among the things they must report are the
sources of their income; i.e., how much did they get from donations, government grants, membership dues, sales of goods/services, etc. With this, one

they are aware of where or how to locate resources regarding social enterprise, and if they believe McCombs offers these types of resources. The
research results presented below fall under the category of primary research.
The primary research collected consisted of 217 survey responses and 12 in–person interviews. The participants were all McCombs students with
several different majors. Around 48% of the participants were sophomores, and the remaining 52% were freshmen, juniors, and seniors. The large
number of sophomores who participated in the survey is valuable information for Impact Hub Austin because McCombs sophomores are trying to pick
a major and are looking towards their future, making them very impressionable. The surveys and interviews analyzed similar questions. However, the
interviews allowed for a collection of more in depth responses, and allowed participants to answer the question of why they had particular perceptions.
Knowledge
The one of the first questions in the survey tested the knowledge of participants about social enterprise. About 59% of the 217 respondents said that
they did not know what a social enterprise was. This question provides one of the reasons for why students do not go to work or volunteer for social
enterprises. Although a majority of respondents claimed

Personal Reflection Paper
1. Going into Sauder For someone currently studying at the Sauder School of Business, I am amazed that I got into this school. I have never taken a
business course in my life (asides from learning a little about marketing during my yearbook course and from watching television), and my high school
curriculum was centered on the sciences. All I knew was accounting since both my parents are accountants; I was also aware of how prospective
accountants needed to obtain their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification and the existence of the "Big 4" accounting firms. Thus, I was fairly
narrow–minded and just hoped to get my bachelor's degree with a specialization in accounting.
2. Changes in the Operation I think my biggest change had to come from the operations class with Greg Werker. Even through COMM 290, he has
definitely influenced which path I am considering specializing in. Part of it has to do with Greg's expertise and the wide range of companies that he
has worked for; for instance, L'Oreal. I thought even more about supply chain management and operations during the alumni class when Mike Tung
was talking about his own experiences. From the readings for that class, I also discovered Sauder's specialization of Global Supply Chain Management,
which spoke to me because it allowed for exchange to two different continents – something I always wanted to do in university. Furthermore, I found
the fact that inventory is a good metric for determining how well a company is

Why The Internet Is The Fuel For The Global Economy
If the Internet is the fuel for the global economy, the midmarket is the engine that makes it work from a growth, stability, and innovation perspective.
Traditional enterprises have typically built and deployed enterprise systems that are used exclusively by employees, with a focus on internal processes,
improving efficiencies, decreasing costs across all functional business areas. With proliferation of the Cloud and The Internet of Things (IoT),
businesses have been forced to deploy solutions that focus on business models that revolve around interactions with a myriad of disparate constituents
from; customers, suppliers, partners, employees, and now remote assets/devices. Enterprise software companies like:
Traditional Enterprise Applications Vendors: IFS, Infor, Microsoft Corporation,Oracle Corporation, PTC, QAD, Sage, SAP, Syspro, Totvs (Brazil), and
Yonyou (China);
Born–in–the–cloud Applications Vendors: Acumatica, Epicor, Kenandy, NetSuite, Ramco, Syspro, and Workday;
Each of these companies have been developing midmarket solutions to help their customers take advantage of these new market realities.
In today 's hypercompetitive marketplace, the midmarket has many of the same complications and challenges the Fortune 500 takes on every day.
Each company has its own and unique supply chain, their own business processes, scare resources, and the need to drive ROI and TCO from their
enterprise systems. Five years ago, ERP systems were, in many cases, a very expensive

The Non–Profit Sector
The Chinese non–profit sector has grown rapidly over the past decade. Some scholars have pointed out that private non – enterprise units have more
characteristics of social enterprises in the three types of social organizations that are currently recognized by the law
However, China 's non–profit sector is facing a long–term development of the plight of the lack of resources. How to realize the self–sufficiency of
funds through the market–oriented and commercialized operation mode becomes a topic of concern in the industry and academia. At present, some
non–profit organizations with entrepreneurial spirit have begun to practice market–oriented mode of operation, such as the implementation of internal
management of the enterprise, the implementation of public service fee system for government outsourcing projects and enterprises to carry out 951

Social Entrepreneurship And Its Impact On Society
Over the last few decades entrepreneurship has become the way many people have chosen to for their career paths. There are different types of
entrepreneurship but there is one in particular that seem to be evolving in the world of business and it is social entrepreneurship. Social
entrepreneurship has allowed the opportunity for change, considering the ever changing economy we live in today. Social entrepreneurship focuses on
not for profit in order to create social value, encourage socially responsible practices in current businesses and provides social solutions to social
problems. Social enterprise is the tool that is used to create social values and meet the social needs. Even though social entrepreneurship sounds like it
is charity it is not because it combines social and commercial goals and as a result, solves some of the social problems. Social entrepreneurs take part
in a procedure that involves consistent development, adoption and learning. By having these segments, social entrepreneurs are able to work without
being confined to assets. Even though most cases of social entrepreneurship start out rather small, their drives have a huge impact on the world's issues.
Some of those examples include access to clean water, unemployment rates, chronic sickness and disease and crime. This paper will address the social
entrepreneurship origin, characteristics and the contrast of social entrepreneurship in the United States versus other countries abroad. Social

Pros And Cons Of Social Entrepreneurship
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP – AN OVERRATED PHENONMENA
Social entrepreneurship which has been applied in so many different ways by so many different analysts that it's depth of vast complexity is still being
unraveled and it seems it is still in infancy. It is a multi–interpretable concept and although the use of the term is widespread its use is either overrated
or misused. Hence, it is important to firstly understand what social entrepreneurship really is.
To me, entrepreneurship is completely dedicating yourself to creating something out of nothing, finding an opportunity and taking full advantage of it
while embracing new challenges every day. Social Entrepreneurship is an integrated part of Entrepreneurship that aims to use business to ... Show more

It allows for social change advocacy without the potential external consequences of "conventional activism." But increasingly, we are led to
believe that 'entrepreneurs' and 'social enterprises' are the avant garde of 'change making'. Like every concept has both pros and cons, similarly
even social entrepreneurship has its own demerits. On one hand it is one major factor in bringing change while on the other end it is being
overused by companies who start off with the motive of being socially responsible and use this for the advantage in future ,by diverting their focus
on profits. The point is, all of a sudden, social entrepreneurship was everywhere and everyone wanted to be one. The key to sustainable capitalism
is reasonable profits as opposed to maximizing profits. In the current system, a segment of society is trying to maximize profits without concern for
the impact on the well being of the society as a whole, while another segment of social organizations have to deal with the fall out. The system is not
working. If it does good in some areas it also does bad in others. The example of Toms one for one shoe program though does charity and is asocial
enterprise but at its worst, it promotes a view of the world's poor as helpless, ineffective people passively waiting for trinkets from shoe–buying
Americans. While the shoes themselves probably won't lead to any kind of disaster, that worldview can lead to bad policies and real, serious harm
also has a small negative impact on local markets. And so I have come to feel increasingly uncomfortable with the term "social entrepreneurship" and
its main actor, the "social entrepreneur". It creates a false separation between "this is where we make money, and this is where we do good". And that
is exactly what is wrong with capitalism today. Myths of social entrepreneurship are different from what and how it really works in the

Discrimination Of Racial Minorities On Social Economies
Discrimination of Racial Minorities in Social Economies The social economy comprises of a diverse network of organizations and enterprises involved
in various operations of society 's economic sector. Examples of such include; associations, foundations, cooperatives, and social enterprises, sharing
similar features and values. These features and values might include; democratic governance, independent management, independence from general
authorities, a combination of interests, voluntary membership, re–investment of gains, and defense of application (Quarter et al., 2009). However,
through history, the existence of diverse populations in local and international jurisdictions changed the operation of social economy organizations.

These social interests vary from small communities to large societies. However, in either case, economic systems remain governed by noneconomic
motives (Quarter et al., 2009). Social economy organizations aim at earning either sizeable or entire portion of revenues accrued from marketplaces.
These organizations work effectively in private market sectors, and without any external aid such as local or international government financing
(Polanyi, 2014). The volume of social economy organizations comprises of cooperatives with capital shares that accrue their revenues from market
zones. These include marketing cooperatives, food retailing cooperatives, and credit unions. Others include commercial non–profits such as Blue
Cross, automobile associations, recreational institutions, for example, the YM–YMCAs (Quarter et al., 2009).
Characteristic Discrimination of Racially Marginalized Communities Discrimination of racially marginalized groups can be discussed using four
specific criteria shared by social economy organizations. These characteristics comprise of social ownership, social participation, social objectives in
organizations ' missions, and civic engagement.

The Fight Against Poverty Around The World
One of the most important steps in the fight against poverty around the world is the creation of jobs. The most competitive and successful in this
direction is the social entrepreneurship. The task of the social enterprises is to contribute to the solving of the social problems and promoting of the
people 's livelihood. Social enterprises provide jobs for hundreds of thousands of people in the various fields: food production, marketing, credit,
insurance, and transportation. The social enterprises open a variety of employment opportunities for the people with disabilities, marginalized groups,
youth, and women. In many countries the social enterprises are working closely together with the governmental organizations, both at national and
local level. Today, entrepreneurs and enterprises with social responsibility around the world receive support from the non–profit organizations,
foundations, governments, and individuals. However, despite the fact that the benefits of social entrepreneurship are clear to many, there are many
difficulties with its development. There is still not reached a consensus on what "social enterprise" is and who can be called a social entrepreneur. Some
believe that the term "social entrepreneur" must refer only to the founding organizations, the main source of income of which is the payment of their
clients. Others believe that the social entrepreneur is one who performs work on the government contracts, and still others believe the social

What are these SaaS and PaaS platforms? In simple terms, SaaS is short for Software as a Service. PaaS means Platform as a Service. The two have
different purposes along with their own pros and cons. Depending on what you choose, a platform's weakness could be actually beneficial to your
business needs. Have you already built your own ecommerce website store? Or are you just starting out and want to build your own from scratch?
Choosing between a SaaS and a PaaS software would depend on your answers to those questions.
As a SaaS provider, Shopify Plus manages all the back–end and front–end systems of your website store. This means that any customizations that you
want to implement would be limited to what Shopify allows. This could either be a disadvantage or an advantage for you depending on how you'd like
to build your website. Shopify Plus compensates this limitation by providing aesthetic templates and designs, to which the platform is widely known for.
While it's obvious that this is a limitation to what Shopify Plus can potentially offer in terms of customizations, many would still choose a SaaS

Importance Of Social Entrepreneurship Essay
IS SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP THE BEST WAY TO HELP PEOPLE IN NEED?
Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching and running a new business while social entrepreneurs launch the business and implement
solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues simultaneously. Bill Drayton once said, "There is nothing more powerful than a new idea in the
hands of a social entrepreneur." In the world, there are billions of people have no access to education, healthcare, clean drinking water, food and even
the basic human rights and respect. Violence, poverty and more global issues are at the alarm rate nowadays. These matters have to be tackled
immediately before it is too late to do so. In our opinion, social entrepreneurship is the best way to help the needy and overcome the problem. New
ideas, opportunities and technologies are sought in solving long–standing social problems. There is a good example to indicate our words, social
entrepreneur in South America, Steve Katsaros. Can you imagine what was life like when oil lamps and candles were all we had to light our cities
with? Indoors was just as treacherous as outdoors. Katsaros invented a solar–powered light bulb that provide isolated villages with power, thus
bypassing the need to bring a power infrastructure out to remote areas. It has brought a great change in their daily lives which allow people to work,
study and play at night without the use of kerosene lamps, which may pollute the environment and arise the respiratory diseases such as asthma.
Consequently, Katsaros was able to bring convenience to the people while he can also stay in his business by selling the bulbs to the people. (The
Guardian, 2009)
To cite the saying that social entrepreneurship is the best way to help people in need, we would like to provide an outstanding example ofsocial
enterprise which is Grameen Bank. Grameen Bank was officially founded in 1983 by Muhammad Yunusand it provides small loans, rather than
charity, to the poorest of the poor especially women in Bangladesh. This indeed provides an opportunity for the people to transform their lives. In
2006, Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank for their efforts to create economic and social

What does it mean to be an entrepreneur? The Business Dictionary describes an entrepreneur as "Someone who exercises initiative by organizing a
venture to take benefit of an opportunity and, as the decision maker, decides what, how, and how much of a good or service will be produced. An
entrepreneur supplies risk capital as a risk taker, and monitors and controls the business activities. The entrepreneur is usually a sole proprietor, a
partner, or the one who owns the majority of shares in an incorporated venture" (2016). A few key points of being an entrepreneur include the type of
entrepreneurship and what approach you should take whether it be corporate entrepreneurship or social; the strategic planning that goes into a
business and the use of young Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME) deciding the size of your company based off of planning and the goals set
for the company. How to accomplish organizational emergence and some of the issues individuals face when starting up a business. Government plays
a huge role in business start–up, this paper will go into detail on how they assist and impede upon entrepreneurship through legislation. Finally,
entrepreneurial resilience and some of mechanisms to cope with a business failure and how to stand up, brush yourself off and try again at success.

In this book report, I will try my best to discuss and explain briefly how important business planning is when it comes to starting up a social enterprise
and how can I apply these learnings in the real world. And also it could help start–ups because it includes some tips and guides, terms and concepts,
and new knowledge about sustainable social impact. All of the facts presented in this book review are based on the information provided in the book.
As Benjamin Franklin once said, "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail." This is also applicable when starting up a business either it's only for
profit or non–profit. The book can be summarized by the picture shown above. It shows how important business planning is to attain sustainable social
impact. In layman's term, business plan is like love by married couples, without it, it cannot survive for a lifetime. Business plan can be considered
as the life of the enterprise since all of the plans, structures, strategies, and activities are included and also it effective forecasts if the enterprise will
be feasible or not. Business plan will guide your organization in generating another kind of profit: lasting social impact. This will be further discussed
on the next pages of this book review.

However, despite several efforts, unfortunately we cannot have a lot of expectations from start–ups industry, in particular high–tech ones, because of
the lack, all over Europe and not only in Italy, of an effective venture capital market that constitutes, so far, the essential fuel for this sector. While in
USA social venturists as well as venture capitalists are very active, in Italy too little attention is given to social innovation, which contrarily is arousing
into the other communitarian countries more and more interest and that recently the EU has promoted with its "Social Business Initiative".
In particular, the just mentioned strategy by European Union aims to set up all those measures useful to fight poverty and social exclusions, and
meanwhile, through SBI, the Brussels based organism wants to strengthen growth, employment and competitiveness, creating simultaneously a more
inclusive society.
Referring to this initiative, it comes to light that social enterprises and, more generally, all the actors involved in the social environment have a
fundamental role to play. Going deeply into their tasks, they should apply business strategies to tackle important social goals such as ameliorate society
or protecting the environment. Moreover, they have to play closer to their own communities, promoting

PA 5529– Social Responsibility and Social Entrepreneurship
Social entrepreneurs are not content just to give a fish or teach how to fish. They will not rest until they have revolutionized the fishing industry – Bill
Drayton, founder of Ashoka Changemakers
Social Entrepreneurship – How different it is from the "regular"
The term social refers to an inclusive and holistic approach towards the society. Generally, social development has been related with promoting the
well–being and progress of the public and the community at large. Human tendency is usually inclined towards pursuing personal gains over societal
benefits. Thus, the processes and the systems created by us, the humans, to serve the people are often biased. The role of social development is to
check this tendency, bring more balance and protect the larger interest within the population.
On the other hand, entrepreneurs are talented and risk–taking opportunity seekers who are committed to find creative and innovative solutions to
challenging problems, making best use of the resources and talents at their disposal, thereby creating value for the society and wealth for himself.

The Negative Impacts Of Globalization In Business
The mankind is leaving in the era of changing. Whether we want or not, it is obviously that the present world is different compare with even 20 years
ago. This world has become significantly connected and integrated. Globalization processes have affected all aspects of human's life and a business has
not been an exception. While these changes concern every person of the society it is still very important to obtain the knowledge which will remain
him competitive and help him to be in trend. Even though the Globalization has some negative aspects for businesses, but it also gives such significant
benefits as an opportunity to develop a business all over the world, changing and challenging the way of doing business through a new concept of
management in a free world.
Sceptics believe that the free market and globalization will lead to bankruptcy of local businesses. Certainly, as any other things in this world,
globalization has both negative and positive effects on economy in general and business specifically. Moreover, local society claims that domestic
markets might be captured by the foreign companies. In addition, homeland firms could be not developed enough to defeat their market from invasions
because of competitive disabilities. On the other hand, using international statistics and experience, we could say that business is a competition – let
the best win. It is the truth that only the best will get a victory, but it is also true that business is for the strong.

The company's growing businesses intelligence platform is a great marketing strategy that will open many doors (Wilms, 2012). Threats Other SaaS service providers are offering cheaper prices for their assistance, which can pose a threat to SAPs market. Customers are becoming more likely to utilize other more affordable forms of help for their investments, etc. (Zolman, 2012). SAPs clients trust them with extremely valuable information such as company security codes and much more. This makes them a prime target for hackers to try and infiltrate the companies system. The number of security vulnerabilities has risen dramatically over time (Nunez). Recommendation #1: SAP must spend time developing new methods and technology that will ensure the security of them and more importantly their faithful clientele. Recommendation #2: SAP should try to find less expensive data chips with the same or similar processing power. • 4. The Theory Of Social Enterprise When I first start on this module, I feel really odd about what exactly a social enterprise is. In our daily life, there are tens of thousands businesses among us, but I have never thought about what makes those business exits, what aims they are trying to achieve and what kind of business they are. When thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run the business in a long term if it is not profit driven, and how they maintain the daily operation with perhaps very little social capital investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar preparations and workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre's visit and learning packs of various social concepts from different groups day by day. What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by Pearce (2003). The diagram is totally new to me but it is not that hard to understand. The diagram divides the economy into three systems and each of which can be seen to be based on deferent principles and values. Each system is about a different way of managing the economy. The first system can be referred to as the private sector, it is profit driven and their principle is to maximize returns for private shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace, meeting needs through the production of goods and the provision of services by companies. The second system can be conventionally referred to as the public sector. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Cloud Based Saas Model Essay Lately, large organizations as well as small startups are focusing on the enterprise segment. Once consumer only products like iPhone (for business) and Android (for work) are now enterprise ready and widely used for businesses by the large organizations. Besides, the business model shift from a "legacy" on–premises to the cloud based SaaS model is true and that is enabling both, businesses as well as vendors, to be agile, reduce maintenance /ownership cost and quickly scale to the evolving business demands. It 's not surprising that nowadays virtually every enterprise software offers a flavor of cloud/SaaS solution. Source: appsruntheworld Though as of today most of the enterprise softwares are still sold traditionally where CIO/CXO and business relations play crucial roles, but the market shift, workforce sentiment/satisfactions can 't be ignored for long. As a result, big players and leaders in the segment are changing and pulling up their sleeves to deliver equally modern and competitive products. Contrary to what Paul Graham said in 2007, today enterprise software companies are trying to be technology companies. However, building enterprise software always has been challenging. In my opinion, consumer grade products have been influential in bringing progressive trends, looks and simplification to these otherwise complex systems. Many people think of BlackBerry as a failed cell phone OS company, especially with recent news of disabled Facebook support on its devices after 2016. BlackBerry needs to revamp its brand to highlight its security expertise, including its new cybersecurity service following the acquisition of UK–based Encription Ltd. • 8. The Proliferation Of Crises Around The World The proliferation of crises around the world has led to a prominent increase in the fascination, as well as interest, in the concept of "social entrepreneurship". In today's society, this concept has inspired numerous individuals to pursue a career being social entrepreneur as it promises to solve some of the world's toughest problems while earning money and gaining social status. That being said, these are often the individuals/agencies that are exempted from public examination as they are seen doing "valuable work". Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consequently, this has led to an era of heropreneurship in which many individuals inspire to become entrepreneurs who claim that they can solve these problems. Due to its heroic and feel good appeal, many individuals work towards creating an "attractive" social enterprise or demand jobs with a "social purpose". Nonetheless, while heropreneurship can be seen as an inspiring and exciting era, there is room for further improvement. First, due to heropreneurship, the line between quick solutions and progress has been blurred. While tackling these problems is considered a noble deed and personally valuable, many individuals are not working towards solving the root of the problems that occur in the affected countries. Rupert Scofield (2011) in his text, "The Social Entrepreneurs Handbook" explains "but to really help them, you have to get to know them, walk in their shoes. You would be surprised at the number of organizations that espouse this or that noble cause in which the personnel seem only dimly acquainted with the facts on the ground" (5). It is apparent that many individuals often prioritize short term solutions and disguise it as a long term because they do not fully understand all aspects of the problem. It is important to realize that implementing successful and sustainable solutions involves hard work. Investigating the root cause of the problem, as well as researching existing solutions and their strengths and weaknesses is critical when attempting to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reshaping DTV's Culture Making Millenials proud DTV employees and customers by reshaping DTV's culture TARGET: To attach a 'wow cool' factor to DTV brand and make it more appealing to the Millenials, representing employees and customers, to increase sales (by developing innovative products) and reduce churn rate (by building customer–centric DNA). This will, in turn, increase DTV's growth and efficiency. To enhance the connection between individual employees' roles and the organization's strategy. To constantly surprise customers with new products and turn them into proud DTV customers. 'Whether to manage a company for growth or for efficiency is a classic dilemma, and the choice isn't simple.' DIRECTV faces this challenge of rebooting its corporate culture by encouraging innovative projects over the short term safe–and–profitable projects. PwC predicts that by 2016, almost 80 percent of its workforce will be composed of Millennials and it will also represent a majority of consumers. Therefore, it is an important challenge to look ahead and figure out what drives Millenials both from customers' and employees' perspective. In order to appeal to Millenials, we need to have a 'wow cool' factor. • 15. The Idea Of Social Entrepreneurship On the idea of social entrepreneurship The idea of social entrepreneurship implies diverse things to various individuals and analysts (Dees, 1998). One gathering of scientists alludes to social enterprise as not–revenue driven activities looking for option financing methodologies, or administration plans to make social worth (Austin, Stevenson, and Wei–Skiller, 2003; Boschee, 1998). A second gathering of analysts comprehends it as the socially mindful routine of business organizations occupied with cross–area associations (Sagawa and Segal, 2000; Waddock, 1988). Also, a third gathering seessocial business as a way to reduce social issues and catalyze social change (Alvord et al., 2004). It is vital to take note of the theoretical contrasts between definitions. Meanings of social entrepreneurship normally allude to a procedure or conduct; meanings of social entrepreneurship people center rather on the author of the activity; and meanings of social endeavors allude to the unmistakable result of social enterprise. In spite of the huge number of definitions, precise endeavors to guide activities and definitions are uncommon (see Boschee (1995) and Waddock and Post (1995), for two exemptions). While integral definitions, every concentrating on various parts of the wonder, are not as a matter of course a hindrance in the quest for hypothesis, despite everything we don 't have a complete photo of the marvel and do not have an unmistakable comprehension of how social business ... While many have been able to describe the traits and features of a social entrepreneur there doesn't seem at all to be a consensus about the definition of what constitutes the field of social entrepreneurship. Susan Davis and David Bornstein in their book, Social Entrepreneurship: What Everyone Needs to Know define social entrepreneurship as "a process by which citizens build or transform institutions to advance solutions to social problems such as poverty, illness, illiteracy, environmental destruction, human rights abuses and corruption (1). The NYU Reynolds Program defines it differently saying "Social entrepreneurship is a form of leadership that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the potential of social entrepreneurship extends far beyond the creation of a new sector compromised of profit–seeking entities that achieve social and environmental good through their products and services. In fact, I believe that the principles of social entrepreneurship hold the greatest value for the pre–existing structures that are already in place. My personal interests in social entrepreneurship are in how the principles and practices of the field can be applied to nonprofits and the current private sector. Often social entrepreneurship is seen as a break away from traditional modes of social change, namely the work done by nonprofits. It's supposed superiority stems from its focus on efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. Like many proponents of social entrepreneurship, I too, find the traditional models in the social sector to be insufficient for creating the type of changes that our society desperately needs. I found myself growing more and more skeptical of the ability of traditional non–profits to make social change. Finding funding often seemed to take precedent over alleviating poverty and I constantly felt that the change we were making was insufficient, superficial and unsustainable. When I came to NYU I was near ready to wash my hands of this "social change" business and pursue something else that might interest me, but my new path to study Media Culture and ... Since the company had already established specific goals that they needed this software to accomplish, looking at the overall functionality of the package is imperative. Increase Employee Productivity With Technology Increase Employee Productivity with Technology Staying ahead of the competition and increasing profits are the fundamental objectives for every organization. However, many firms today continue to invest extensively in business development activities and less on employee productivity. This mindset ignores the firm's chief asset and its core foundation, its workforce. The fact is employee productivity can make or break a firm, and a firm staffed with underperforming employees will inevitably fail regardless of the amount invested into business development. Many firms that do recognize the importance of employee productivity often invest in improving the corporate culture, but overlook investing in the right tools that result in increased productivity. Sure, they have the latest coffee maker, but what they don't have are the technology–based tools employees use daily to perform the functions of their jobs. The goal of this whitepaper is to challenge employers to evaluate the way they currently use technology and identify if they are aiding or impeding employee productivity. Based on our experience and research, many firms seem satisfied with using their antiquated systems or the fear of change and learning a new system is simply too overwhelming. they are simply uncomfortable with upgrading and learning a new system. This was a community–focused urban agriculture project that helped raise funds to continue operating the greenhouses during the winter. It also enabled them to provide consistent year–round after–school employment for four of the young people that helped to get the project off the ground. This campaign was in addition to several community events held in efforts to raise money for the "green winter". This was as a result of weather implications in Rochester, NY, which prevented them from growing fresh fruits and vegetables. The pilot aquaponic farming system would "winterize" the greenhouse by sustaining a year–round farming operation that enabled them to triple production capabilities with four new vertical grow beds. Not only did the money raised help physically make these changes possible, but it also provided the youth with more after school activities as a result of these expansions. And indeed it was selfless. Social business is truly selfless because it focuses on helping others and earning profit comes second. By looking at my community, at my environment, and at my experiences in life, there are problems that will need solutions and I firmly believe that having a social business is the solution. For instance, the nascency of the field means that there are relatively few (as compared with fields like commercial entrepreneurship or family firms) potential subjects for those wanting to study founders of social ventures. Moreover, due to the global nature of the field, social entrepreneurs tend to be a disbursed group. Add to this the fact that there is little government–mandated public information on most social enterprises (as is the case with publically–traded firms, for example), and one can understand why few empirical studies on social entrepreneurship have gone beyond case studies. The research results presented below fall under the category of primary research. The primary research collected consisted of 217 survey responses and 12 in–person interviews. The participants were all McCombs students with several different majors. Around 48% of the participants were sophomores, and the remaining 52% were freshmen, juniors, and seniors. The large number of sophomores who participated in the survey is valuable information for Impact Hub Austin because McCombs sophomores are trying to pick a major and are looking towards their future, making them very impressionable. • 25. Personal Reflection Paper 1. Going into Sauder For someone currently studying at the Sauder School of Business, I am amazed that I got into this school. I have never taken a business course in my life (asides from learning a little about marketing during my yearbook course and from watching television), and my high school curriculum was centered on the sciences. All I knew was accounting since both my parents are accountants; I was also aware of how prospective accountants needed to obtain their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification and the existence of the "Big 4" accounting firms. Thus, I was fairly narrow–minded and just hoped to get my bachelor's degree with a specialization in accounting. 2. Changes in the Operation I think my biggest change had to come from the operations class with Greg Werker. Even through COMM 290, he has definitely influenced which path I am considering specializing in. Part of it has to do with Greg's expertise and the wide range of companies that he has worked for; for instance, L'Oreal. I thought even more about supply chain management and operations during the alumni class when Mike Tung was talking about his own experiences. From the readings for that class, I also discovered Sauder's specialization of Global Supply Chain Management, which spoke to me because it allowed for exchange to two different continents – something I always wanted to do in university. Why The Internet Is The Fuel For The Global Economy If the Internet is the fuel for the global economy, the midmarket is the engine that makes it work from a growth, stability, and innovation perspective. Traditional enterprises have typically built and deployed enterprise systems that are used exclusively by employees, with a focus on internal processes, improving efficiencies, decreasing costs across all functional business areas. With proliferation of the Cloud and The Internet of Things (IoT), businesses have been forced to deploy solutions that focus on business models that revolve around interactions with a myriad of disparate constituents from; customers, suppliers, partners, employees, and now remote assets/devices. Enterprise software companies like: Traditional Enterprise Applications Vendors: IFS, Infor, Microsoft Corporation,Oracle Corporation, PTC, QAD, Sage, SAP, Syspro, Totvs (Brazil), and Yonyou (China); Born–in–the–cloud Applications Vendors: Acumatica, Epicor, Kenandy, NetSuite, Ramco, Syspro, and Workday; Each of these companies have been developing midmarket solutions to help their customers take advantage of these new market realities. In today 's hypercompetitive marketplace, the midmarket has many of the same complications and challenges the Fortune 500 takes on every day. Social entrepreneurship has allowed the opportunity for change, considering the ever changing economy we live in today. Social entrepreneurship focuses on not for profit in order to create social value, encourage socially responsible practices in current businesses and provides social solutions to social problems. But increasingly, we are led to believe that 'entrepreneurs' and 'social enterprises' are the avant garde of 'change making'. Like every concept has both pros and cons, similarly even social entrepreneurship has its own demerits. On one hand it is one major factor in bringing change while on the other end it is being overused by companies who start off with the motive of being socially responsible and use this for the advantage in future ,by diverting their focus on profits. The point is, all of a sudden, social entrepreneurship was everywhere and everyone wanted to be one. The key to sustainable capitalism is reasonable profits as opposed to maximizing profits. In the current system, a segment of society is trying to maximize profits without concern for the impact on the well being of the society as a whole, while another segment of social organizations have to deal with the fall out. The system is not working. If it does good in some areas it also does bad in others. The example of Toms one for one shoe program though does charity and is asocial enterprise but at its worst, it promotes a view of the world's poor as helpless, ineffective people passively waiting for trinkets from shoe–buying Americans. While the shoes themselves probably won't lead to any kind of disaster, that worldview can lead to bad policies and real, serious harm also has a small negative impact on local markets. And so I have come to feel increasingly uncomfortable with the term "social entrepreneurship" and its main actor, the "social entrepreneur". It creates a false separation between "this is where we make money, and this is where we do good". And that is exactly what is wrong with capitalism today. • 34. Importance Of Social Entrepreneurship Essay IS SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP THE BEST WAY TO HELP PEOPLE IN NEED? Entrepreneurship is the process of designing, launching and running a new business while social entrepreneurs launch the business and implement solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues simultaneously. Bill Drayton once said, "There is nothing more powerful than a new idea in the hands of a social entrepreneur." In the world, there are billions of people have no access to education, healthcare, clean drinking water, food and even the basic human rights and respect. Violence, poverty and more global issues are at the alarm rate nowadays. These matters have to be tackled immediately before it is too late to do so. In our opinion, social entrepreneurship is the best way to help the needy and overcome the problem. New ideas, opportunities and technologies are sought in solving long–standing social problems. There is a good example to indicate our words, social entrepreneur in South America, Steve Katsaros. Can you imagine what was life like when oil lamps and candles were all we had to light our cities with? Indoors was just as treacherous as outdoors. Katsaros invented a solar–powered light bulb that provide isolated villages with power, thus bypassing the need to bring a power infrastructure out to remote areas. It has brought a great change in their daily lives which allow people to work, study and play at night without the use of kerosene lamps, which may pollute the environment and arise the respiratory diseases such as asthma. Consequently, Katsaros was able to bring convenience to the people while he can also stay in his business by selling the bulbs to the people. (The Guardian, 2009) To cite the saying that social entrepreneurship is the best way to help people in need, we would like to provide an outstanding example ofsocial enterprise which is Grameen Bank. Grameen Bank was officially founded in 1983 by Muhammad Yunusand it provides small loans, rather than charity, to the poorest of the poor especially women in Bangladesh.
