Canara Bank, a state owned lender, said fiscal second quarter net profit dropped 15.6% on higher provisions and weak asset
quality. Net profit slipped to Rs 5.28 billion in three months ended Sep 30 compared to Rs 6.26 billion in the same period a year
ago, the lender said in a statement to the stock exchanges today. Net interest income rose to Rs 26.46 billion in the Jul-Sep
quarter from Rs 23.67 billion in the same period a year ago. Provisions in the quarter jumped 49% to Rs 12.12 billion while other
income dropped 18.5% to Rs 12.1 billion in the quarter gone by. Gross bad loans rose to 4.27% in the quarter from 3.98% in the
previous quarter and 2.92% in the corresponding period a year ago. Bad loans after provisions climbed to 2.9% in the quarter
from 2.74% in the previous quarter and 2.31% in the corresponding period a year ago. Meanwhile, revenues from wholesale
banking dropped to Rs 53.89 billion in the quarter from Rs 58.67 billion while revenues from retail banking rose 26.18% to Rs
37.54 billion in the quarter gone by.
Technical Outlook : On hourly chart, recently the stock has given breakdown of symmetrical triangle formation at 275 levels with
above average volumes. Moreover, stock has been trading below 60DEMAon daily chart, which indicates that short term trend is
down. A momentum indictor RSI has moved below 40 levels on daily chart, which point out for negative breath in the stock. So
for trading perspective, one could Sell in the range of 273-275 for the Target of 267 with the SL of 278.

Petronet LNG Ltd., a state-run company, rose Wednesday after the Reserve Bank of India allowed foreign institutional investors
(FIIs) to invest up to 30% in the company. FIIs can now invest in Petronet LNG Ltd under the portfolio investment scheme (PIS),
Reserve Bank of India said in a press release on Tuesday after market hours. As of Sep 30, FIIs held 22.45% in Petronet LNG, data
from the stock exchanges showed.

Asian stocks traded mostly lower early Thursday, following a weaker finish on Wall Street as increasing odds of a U.S. interest-rate
rise in December sapped risk appetite. Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen said Wednesday that December's monetary policy
meeting would be a "live possibility" for a rate hike if upcoming economic data were supportive. Yellen was testifying before the
House Financial Services Committee in Washington. Shanghai Composite index traded at 1.88% to 3526.07, Hang Seng index
traded at 0.11 % to 23079.61, Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index traded at 1.02% to 19122.42, South Korea's Kospi index traded
down by -0.34 % to 2045.85 levels. The SGX Nifty suggests a flat to negative opening for our markets as it is trading at 8059.50,
down by 6.00 points.
US stocks edged lower on Wednesday, retracing recent gains along with energy shares, while comments by Federal Reserve Chair
Janet Yellen pointing to a possible interest rate hike in December added to investor caution. S&P energy, down 1.0 percent, led
the day's decline as US crude oil closed down 3.3 percent. The fall snapped a run of five straight days of gains in the energy index.
Stocks added to losses after comments by Yellen, who told Congress the Fed expects the economy to continue to grow at a pace
that returns inflation to policy-makers' target and that if the incoming information supports that expectation then December
would be a live possibility for a rate increase. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 50.57 points, or 0.28 percent, to 17,867.58;
the S&P 500 lost 7.48 points, or 0.35 percent, to 2,102.31; and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.65 points, or 0.05 percent, to
5,142.48.
