2. What is ideology?
Ideology is the message that the producers of a media text aim to put
across to the audience.
Audiences can interpret these messages from the producers differently
and in many ways
A lot of the time there is a main intended message for the audience
It is ideas, values, and beliefs in a society. It is often just known as ‘common
sense’.
3. Ideologies are ideas that are the norm across society and are known to
just be the way they are.
Ideologies are not static; they are nearly always evolving and developing
An example of this is ideology of the equality of women
They are often just thought to be the ‘stereotype’.
4. Althusser’s
This theorist revalued the ideas of ideology
He said it is the belief that “one can directly access the real conditions of
history”
