1. Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? By Charlotte Alderson
2. Digital cameras I used the high tech digital cameras to take the photos for my magazine and for my test shoots. I also used the lighting equipment. I had never used this type of technology before but I was able to learn about not only how to use the technology but how to use this technology in order to create effects and use angles and lighting. I found using this equipment really interesting to use.
3. Apple mac computers I have never owned an apple mac computer, nor before I began this course, used one but all though at first I found them quite difficult, I quickly adapted to the way macs work. They are so different to how the windows computers work but they are very user friendly and I have learnt a lot from using them.
4. In design In design was one of the pieces of software that I used when using the mac pcs. I found this piece of software quite complicated but it taught me many things in the magazine production process, including alignment, structure and positioning of a magazine. There were many functions to in design software and I learnt a lot from Using it.
5. Photoshop I used photo shop in many sections of my magazine production, research and analysis. I used it to edit, manipulate and improve photographs and also used it to put together the front cover and contents page of my magazine. I learnt many things about the use of the functions of photo shop. I found this software really good and vital to the making of my magazine.
6. I photo IPhoto was another piece of software that was available on the mac computers. I used it to upload all the photos that I took and it also helped my select The ones I wanted. I had never used this software before but I found it really easy to use. I learnt how to select, crop and make slight changes to the photographs.
7. Photo booth I used photo booth for my research and evaluation of my product. It is another piece of software that was on the mac computers that I hadn’t used before but found it very easy to use. I learnt how to make simple videos and effectively give feedback to my magazine and others comments.
8. blogger I used blogger a lot in the magazine production. I have used it to share posts about the process that I went through in researching, editing and evaluating my magazine. I learnt about the way I should present information and also how to use the software as I had never had or used a blog before. I found it a really good way of showing the process of my work.
9. Garage band This is another piece of software on apple computers that can help you create sounds and songs originally. I used this to put music behind one of my evaluation questions. I learnt how to use this software and how to search and create different sounds. I only used this software very briefly but I believe that I can adapt the skills I have learnt to create more music in the future.
10. Final cut express I used this software to put videos together. It was very useful in both the research and evaluation of my product. You can easily add and edit pictures and sounds. I also learnt how to cut, shorten and rearrange clips of the videos. I found final cut express really good and simple to use and I believe I learnt a lot.
11. prezi Prezi is an online presentation tool that make presenting materials such as text, pictures and videos with ease and in a really interesting manor. I learnt how to present, make, edit, zoom and create presentations. This is a really great piece of software of conveying information.
12. Go animate & voki I used go animate to make one of my evaluation questions. It is a brilliant piece of online software to create animations and characters that can say and convey everything you write. I learnt how to use this software and all of the functions that it offers. Voki is another piece of software that does a similar job to go animate but uses a smaller window to present characters and is another really interesting way of showing text
13. pixton Pixton is another piece of internet software that I used to create another way of presenting data. I was able to create a comic strip showing the processes within the music industry. I learnt how to create the comic strip and the different functions of the pixton website.
14. YouTube I have become very familiar with YouTube and have used it many times but it is only since creating my magazine which I have ever had an account with YouTube and so therefore have learnt to upload and embed my own videos. I found this very easy to do and I know that I will continue to use and upload more.
15. Internet research Internet provided me with a lot of websites that I used including: Dafont.com – finding different fonts for my magazine Google images Researching different products YouTube Slide share And many more
16. PowerPoint & slide share I used PowerPoint to create many presentations for my magazine. They are really useful to use however I have used them before so I didn’t generally learn more about them in my project but I did learn how to upload them both on the internet and on Slide share. I learnt a lot from using slide share and all of its capabilities.
17. …final thought Throughout researching, making and evaluating my coursework I have used many types of technology and software. I have learnt many things about the use and functionality of everything I used. I have really enjoyed each stage of making my magazine and everything I used to get there.
