Week 4: Assessment 1: Oral Presentation

2. The assignment has 2 components:
1. Oral presentation that analyses and contextualises the relationship
between your creative PROCESSES and the ideas/outcomes in one of your
folio works (3 minutes, delivered to video); and
2. Written submission that analyses the connections between one of the unit
themes in: a) one work seen first-hand this semester; and b) one of your
folio works (different to the work addressed in your oral) (600 words plus
presentation notes)
The aim of the presentation is to describe and contextualize your work.
Assessment 1: Oral Presentation (40%)
3. Your Oral Presentation should:
• Describe one of your folio works;
• Analyse how PROCESS has influenced its form/content; and
• Contextualise your analysis using an example of single work of contemporary art.
Note:
– Use Zoom record function
– Avoid reading from a prewritten script – bullet points only
– Keep to the time limit (3min +/- 10% = between 2min 40sec and 3min 20sec)
– Include an image of your chosen artist’s work in your presentation
– Check the assessment rubric on Blackboard

5. Your Written Submission comprises:
• An analysis of a single contemporary artwork that you have observed first hand this semester by
describing the work and linking it to one of the unit THEMES (300 words);
• An analysis of one of the works you have made this semester (different to the work addressed in your
oral) by describing the work and how it reflects your nominated unit THEME. (300 words); and
• Your presentation notes (can be bullet points)
Note:
Please use the template provided on Blackboard
Please keep to the word limit. (600 words +/- 10%).
Include an image of each work that you refer to.
Include 2 scholarly references for each entry (ie 2 per artist).
Please note that the artist analysed in your presentation must be different to the 3 included in your
contextual review.
Please submit a .doc/.docx file via submission link before midnight on day of presentation

11. Oral presentation
A 3-minute presentation to camera, accompanied by relevant images presented on-screen (i.e. own work, artist image/s)
– Please use Zoom to create and record your video.
– Upload your video to YouTube; label according to the following template: “KNEADING by Jane D, KVB127 Group
1”; set preferences to ‘unlisted’; add the URL link to your group’s Padlet and to front page of your written
submission (see template)
Written Submission:
One electronic document (in either Microsoft Word or PDF format) that contains the following:
•An assignment coversheet (please use the template provided)
•The written component as detailed above (Parts 1-3).
– Submit via Turnitin by following by following the steps outlined in the Assessment 1 details PDF (Assessment 1
folder)
– ALWAYS check your student email for the submission receipt.
NB: Written component should be submitted as a single document via Blackboard Assignment 1 link by 11:59pm on the
due date of your oral presentation (see list under Assessment> Assessment 1)
