2. How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
My magazine represents the social group of people in the age of teenagers, who
are interested in music and in particular, dance music.
The representation is stereotypical because it shows a young rising star at the
beginning of their career and the photograph on the cover also suggests the
stereotype of a perfect woman – sexy ,happy, beautiful, smart and successful.
My model is a female and I have represented her as a young successful woman
in the music business who has just broke into the music industry but by the
photographs we can tell she is very confident.
Also the star of this magazine is a young rising DJ who is female which directly
connects to the audience as it is something unusual for a women to be doing but
in the interview and the look in her eyes we can see the success which is to
come for “Simona Barakova”.
I have represented my target audience for instance with the the name of the
magazine “VIVID”. This is commonly used. The word vivid tells people that this
magazine is like an explosion, it has everything they’ll need and it is represented
in a more interactive way than usual. However with the colours I have used it
seems to keep it rather classic as well, something that a person can keep and
collect issues.
3. What kind of Media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
A magazine always needs some kind of support, no
matter if it is from one media institution which will sponsor
for everything or a couple smaller ones all helping by
providing whatever is needed in order to make profit. Any
of those 3 companies would distribute my magazine as it
associated with one of the most spreading medias
nowadays, music. It is also something different and for a
change its not all in different colours and pointless articles
which will be read ones, but its worth it keeping it. It is
also about all new rising stars and who doesn’t want to
know everything first? I think I have made the magazine
successful by mixing the image of something new and
different (eg. Style of photos) and the classic which is
shown in the colours used and the language represented.
My magazine would be distributed by IPC Media as we
are both committed to working in partnership with
consumers, advertisers , business partners and our
employees in order to deliver exceptional and valuable
service
I think this because IPC Media distributes all kinds of
magazines, from the well established WHSmith to
grocery multiples such as TESCO, Sainsbury, to
emerging magazine sellers like Lidl, BP and Esso.
4. Who would be the audience for
your media product?
The audience of my magazine would be mostly females and some males, in
a range of age from 15-25 who enjoy music and new stars also who like to
know what has happened first. People who would want to know the top hits
of the moths but also like to have some advices from their idols. As I have
mentioned in my treatment sheet…
My target
audience
looks
something
like this…
