• Though not my major, one of my two
minors is history and I think many
people discredit the importance of
learning history.

3. History teaches us to think and
understand
■ History enables us to study the experiences that have come before us, then
allows us to decide what it is we want to do with this information
■ It is important for the intellectual growth and development of both the
individual and the society to think about the past and to understand how it is
certain events came to take place.

4. Why I personally enjoy learning about
history
■ Ancient history is, and always has been, one of my favorite topics
to study.
■ My favorite time periods are:Ancient Egypt,Ancient Greece, and
Ancient Rome.
■ I feel very cliché when I say that those are my favorite topics, but
I’ve always been interested in their way of life, their politics, their
culture, especially the arts, and just everything about these times
fascinates me.
■ It is not only the history of others that I feel important to study, I
oftentimes go over my past mistakes and think of ways I can
overcome obstacles based off my past actions.
– I think the quote in the bottom corner is very important: we
must learn from history so that we can be in control of our own
futures.

5. In short:
■ It is very important for us as both individuals and a society to learn from our history to
become better versions of ourselves.
■ By studying history, we allow ourselves to expand our knowledge and shape our
futures.
■ If we do not study our past, as a person, nation, or even civilization as a whole, how are
we to grow and learn from mistakes already made?
