Conflicts in the Extractive Industries

2. Module 3
Module 3 addresses the issue of
extractive industries and conflict
management. Under the title of
“Preventing and Addressing Social
Conflicts in the EI” module 3 will
also include a discussion on rent
distribution policies and their
relation with conflict. Participants
will have more time to contribute
(10 days instead of seven) on
each week’s discussion. The
discussion will change weekly on
Fridays with an analysis post
every Monday.

be presented to the participants, who will be invited to:

5. Introductory Week
In the first week moderator will
introduce the materials prepared
and available in the resource
library which address specifically
the general theme of Preventing
and Addressing Social Conflicts. A
first discussion starts with
questions related to the overall
topic.

7. Learning and Exchange Weeks
The second to the fifth week are devoted merely
to the learning and exchange. Moderator posts a
thread corresponded to each week’s subtheme.
The post and questions thread will be online each Friday
and you will have ten days until Sunday next week to
post your contributions. All participants’ contributions
will be considered in the weekly analysis the moderator
will post each Monday, and you will have time to
comment on this analysis until Thursday (overlapping
weeks).
8. Conclusion Week
Wrap-Up and Conclusions of this
Learning Alliance’s last module
will be drawn on the last week.
We will then enter into the
Learning into Practice phase:
general conclusions and taking
forward acquired knowledge
including the Latin American
study tour and the awards.
9. We invite you all to contribute by sharing your
experiences and knowledge on this theme. Illustrative
cases will be most welcome.
