assist in an emergency birth, a situation here the regular
proce”ure is not e en an option. 5hat re uires a contingency
plan to be put into action hile keeping your calm intact an”
maintaining your fast pace.
Our ell-traine” staff at AZHD ”emonstrate” an
unsurpasse” management of a 3 -year-ol” la”y in labor.
5he inci”ent took place on Fri”ay July 6 at :20 a.m. hen
Erickson Portes, registere” nurse, approache” a cab ith a
heelchair after the ”ri er as constantly tapping the horn
to alert the hospital’s staff. In the meantime, a la”y steppe”
out in hurry asking for help. Erickson rushe” back to bring a
stretcher as he realize” that the patient is a pregnant oman
in acti e labor. Joanna Marie Salu”, a registere” nurse at ER,
”ashe” after him an” into the cab hich as imme”iately
transforme” into a labor an” ”eli ery suite. Recei ing the
baby’s hea” in Joanna’s han”s hile Erickson as firmly
supporting the upper bo”y of the la”y on his knees outsi”e
the cab, the t o of them cooperate” in perfect harmony.
Mother an” baby ere safely sent to the resuscitation room
ith the help of Jocelyn Flojo, nurse in charge. Dr. Surayya
Batul, RMO Resi”ent Me”ical Officer an” Lo”mila Chahine,
mi” ife, together sent the mother an” her chil” lying ”o n
ne t to her, ith the umbilical cor” still intact an” on the
stretcher to the labor room here the rest of the proce”ure
as safely han”le”.
