1. Neknomination News Story
The Neknomination game is increasingly becoming more and more dangerous, originating in
Australia the drinking game has spread across the world. The original game required the participant
to film themselves while drinking a pint of alcoholic beverage in one and afterwards post the video
online. The person will then challenge others to do the challenge. The game is vastly becoming more
dangerous with the participants drinking more extreme beverages and substances or engaging in
dangerous activities during or after consuming their drink. Since the game hit the UK There have
been 2 deaths.
I spoke to a few students asking their opinions on the game and if they would participate if they
were to be nominated for the online drinking craze.
I can see why people did it before it went crazy but I don’t see why people do now, it’s become
stupid, people have died from it.... I wouldn’t take part, but I would feel pressured to and I can see
why it would be easy to give into the peer pressure.
I think People believe nothing bad will happen to them. They think they’ll be fine. The only way I
would do the challenge is if it wasn’t dangerous.
People are still taking part in the challenge regardless of the news of people’s deaths. Police are
trying to win the bid to get the videos banned from being posted on social media sites such as
Facebook but are struggling as controversial behaviour is not against its rules.
