- The Bible League of Canada utilizes some key access platforms in order to share God’s Word and to bring people into relationship with Christ and His Church.
- The first platform is Church Planting. In carrying out its part of the great commission, The Bible League of Canada partners with many organizations and individual church planters to train church planters and leaders, and to place Scriptures and training materials in the hands of those who have been nudged by the Holy Spirit to seek Christ. Each country and each culture requires varying strategies to accomplish this task. Indigenous (native) church planters are the most effective group since they know the language, culture, values, climate, and have far less financial and physical needs. Indigenous church planters offer a needed service to their countrymen allowing them to quietly share the gospel with unbelievers.
- In the developing world, illiteracy is rampant and is the strongest indicator of poverty, malnourishment, and premature death. By the time young men and women have reached the age of maturity, those who are illiterate will be condemned to a life of struggle. It is nearly always women who respond to the literacy programs and because of their great hunger to learn, they very quickly grasp the necessary skills to function in society. Because of the practical Bible bases lessons taught in economic skills, basic hygiene, and marketplace math, income often triples in the first year, diseases and sickness are abated, and above all new believers blossom with new hope in the Lord. Church planters share the truths of the gospel and witness to the hearts and minds of these learners. Churches are planted and communities begin to thrive.
- Children between the ages of 7-14 have the highest conversion rate to becoming followers of Christ. Children are least likely to abandon their faith as they become older. As children in developing nations make a decision to follow Christ they often influence their mothers to do the same, mothers in turn influence their husbands and Christian families become powerful agents of change in their communities. Hundreds of millions of children around the globe attend substandard schools where the quality of education is poor. In many places there are no schools. Most parents long for their children to be well educated since they recognize the economic stature and value of a literate person. Through glimpses of the western world that they see, parents know the vast opportunities available for educated individuals. Identifying this abundant need, enterprising church planters go into villages, gain the permission of community leaders, and offer to teach children basic skills. As they introduce the children to learning through the material provided by the Bible League of Canada. The children are introduced to the person of Jesus Christ. They are told of His great love and promises for them and His calling in their lives.
- We have already talked about Church Planter Training, Literacy and Children’s Programs and how God’s Word is changing lives around the world.In areas of severe persecution, Bibles and other Scripture materials are providedso that our brothers and sisters in Christ may receive comfort and joy in receivingtheir very own Bible. In some places believers have waited and prayed up to 40 years before receiving their first Bibles or New Testaments.In China we continue to fight the perception that Bibles are freely available. Even though Bibles are printed in China and are available in some of the larger cities, the demand for Bibles especially in rural areas cannot be met. While it is not illegal to bring Bibles into China, officials regularly confiscate them. We cannot share our distribution methods, however our partners will deliver as many Bibles as canbe printed with available resources.In many countries of South East Asia, disinterested, intolerant and uncaring governments make bringing Bibles very risky. Our ministry partners risk their own personal freedom and their lives in order to meet the demand and hunger for God’s Word. Countries that we provide Scriptures to because of persecution include Vietnam, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, China, Laos, North Korea and Vietnam. In addition to providing Bibles, we also provide hymnals and other resources. What is the biggest request of those who are being persecuted? Please pray for us. Please don’t forget us.
