This document contrasts how society portrays love versus how the Bible defines it. It argues that society often confuses lust and infatuation for love, showing through movies and media that lust usually wins out. However, the Bible warns that the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit and will not allow one to inherit God's kingdom. It provides passages from Galatians and Matthew demonstrating how believers should walk by the Spirit and control lustful thoughts. The document then lists the harmful consequences of lust and positive consequences of love according to biblical principles. It encourages believers to teach others, especially millennials, about these differences and dangers of lust rather than what is promoted by the world.

4. WHAT DOES SOCIETY SAY AND WHAT DOES
THE BIBLE SAY?
• Galatians 5:16-25 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of
the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the
Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing
the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20
idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of
anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[d] drunkenness, orgies, and things like
these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit
the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, selfcontrol; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us

8. Matthew 5:27-30
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit
adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a
woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with
her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it
out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your
members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it
away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than
that your whole body go into hell.

10. Gal 5:
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as
an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law
is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite
and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another
We are free yet Lust can put us in bondage… Quote:
Lust destroyed my love
Lust pushed away my one
Lust made me weak
Lust took the one love
Lust killed my happiness
Lust is a sin I committed
Lust, I shouldn't had done
Lust got my suffocating
Lust made light turn into darkness
Lust made me miss my wife
Lust, my innocent girl is hurt
Lust I hurt myself too
Lust I miss my family I built
Lust, you were my biggest mistake....

15. Love Demonstrated: A class of little girls was learning to
spell. They spelled a number of small words, such as
“pig,” “cat,” “dog,” “cow,” and amused themselves by
imitating the sounds that these animals make. Then little
Mary was asked to spell “love.” She didn‟t stop to give the
letters, but ran and threw her arms around the teacher‟s
neck and kissed her on the cheek. “We spell „love‟ that
way at our house,” she said. The girls laughed, but the
teacher said, “That is a beautiful way; but do you know
another way to spell „love‟?” “Oh, yes,” cried Mary, “I spell
love this way,” and she began to put the books in order
on her teacher‟s desk. “I spell love by helping everybody
when they need me.” (From Illustrations of Bible Truth)

17. SO WHAT?
• On Super Bowl Sunday preparing for St. Valentine’s Day we need to let people know
the consequences of Lust…
• The Bible has a lot to say about this: David and Bathsheba, many others…
• "For all that is in the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of
life is not of the Father, but is of the world" (1 John 2:16).
"Let not sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts" (Romans
6:12).
• We are called to speak up and share the dangers and help our millennials know that
what the World sells is not real and will cause damage.
• We are in the world but not of it!
