Editing existing items in CONTENTdm's Project Client

  2. 2. <ul><li>Open an existing collection in Project Client </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Click the “Find in Collection” tab </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Click “Browse Collection” (may take awhile to load, depending on collection size) </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Items in collection will appear in the center pane </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>Select items for editing, option #1: Select All </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>Select items to edit, option #2: Check off individual items using the checkboxes </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>Then click “Add to Project (edit)” </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>Items will turn blue and a lock will appear on the left </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>Next, click the tab with the name of your project </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>You will be taken to the screen where you can begin editing your items </li></ul>
  12. 12. <ul><li>You can edit fields directly on this screen, but beware of bugs that will lose your changes </li></ul>
  13. 13. <ul><li>To edit an item, you can either… </li></ul>
  14. 14. <ul><li>… check the item’s checkbox and select “Open in Tab” </li></ul>
  15. 15. <ul><li>… . Or you can double-click any of the item’s fields </li></ul>
  16. 16. <ul><li>Either option will open the screen where you can edit the item’s metadata </li></ul>
  17. 17. <ul><li>Double clicking a field will open a bigger window for easier editing </li></ul>
  18. 18. <ul><li>(Example of what that looks like) </li></ul>
  19. 19. <ul><li>When editing, you can also run “Find & Replace” and “Spell Check” options on metadata </li></ul>
  20. 20. <ul><li>When editing a compound object, you can also select individual pages and add metadata for each of those </li></ul>
  21. 21. <ul><li>To return to main metadata for item, click the name of the item at top of the list of pages </li></ul>
  22. 22. <ul><li>When you’re done editing, you can save two ways: </li></ul>
  23. 23. <ul><li>If you’re only editing one item in a collection, click “Save” on left and “Close” on right. </li></ul>
  24. 24. <ul><li>If you’re editing multiple items, click “Save and Next” (or “Save and Back”) </li></ul>
  25. 25. <ul><li>When you’re done editing, check the items ready to be re-uploaded to the web </li></ul>
  26. 26. <ul><li>Then click “Upload for Approval” </li></ul>
  27. 27. <ul><li>If you are uploading many items at once, you can monitor progress via “View Upload Manager” </li></ul>
  28. 28. <ul><li>Upload Manager (at bottom of screen) shows progress of items being uploaded </li></ul>
  29. 29. <ul><li>Once uploads are complete, click “Administration” menu and select “Approve” </li></ul>
  30. 30. <ul><li>This takes you to the web-based admin approval screen, where you can approve and index items like usual </li></ul>
  31. 31. Editing Existing Items in CONTENTdm <ul><li>That’s it for basic editing! </li></ul><ul><li>A couple extra tips… </li></ul>
  32. 32. <ul><li>Tip #1: Don’t want to edit the item after all? Check the box and click “Delete” at the top. </li></ul>
  33. 33. <ul><li>Deleted items are unlocked and restored to normal on “Find in Collection” tab </li></ul>
  34. 34. <ul><li>Tip #2: Is your item stuck in locked mode despite being approved and re-indexed? </li></ul>
  35. 35. <ul><li>Go to the web-based administration screen and select the “Items” tab. Then select “Lock Administration” from the main menu. </li></ul>
  36. 36. <ul><li>Use “Unlock All” to unlock all items or the individual “unlock” options for specific items or pages </li></ul>
