Many of us think that both are same but no there is difference.
The first difference between a resume and CV is the length and
amount of detail.
A resume layout and its content is meant to be selective and
concise. That means one page (maximum three for senior roles).
CV outlines your entire educational and professional history, along
with major accomplishments, and other credentials, so it is almost
always more than two pages in length.

5. The header should be simple and clean, with as little information as is necessary. A few
notes to keep in mind:
Header: Stick With the Basics
▫ Your email address should be either just your name, or some professional variation of it. If you
don’t have an email address like that, create one. Right now.
▫ It’s preferable, if possible, to have a local address. Hiring managers see an out-of-state address,
and immediately ask questions. If you don’t have local address try to use your relative or friend
address. This doesn’t have to be misleading”.

Career Objective: Broad, but Clear
Your career objective should be broad enough to show that
you’re open to a variety of opportunities, but also clear enough to
show that this particular position is something that fits within
your long-term goals.
It is a tough balance to find, but you should be able to fit it into a
single sentence.

7. Education Section:
The content under this section depends on where you are in your career. If
you’ve been working for 20 years, you are best keeping the education section
brief by listing your completed academic degrees and institutions attended
from most recent to oldest.
For students or recent graduates, the education section has added
importance. Here you can include sub-sections for relevant courses taken,
research/course projects, and academic achievements.

Work Experience: Specific and Relevant
▫ This section is your opportunity to showcase how your
experience is aligned with the position you want.
▫ The best way to do this is through bullets, with each point
providing examples of past responsibilities and
accomplishments based on what the potential employer is
asking for in the job description.
▫ Keep in mind that you have limited space on a resume, so
you will need to be selective about what you want to
emphasize.
▫ Start with your company or organization’s name, then your
title, and years worked. This could be specific dates, or it
could also just be length of time at each position.

• If you’re applying to be a bank teller, they’ll
probably assume you can count money.
• You have to show which skills you have that
set you apart.
• If you are applying for an administrative
position and you are an Excel or QuickBooks
expert, mention it. Again, think about those
skills and technologies that would be needed
for the position, and how you set yourself
above the pack by being an expert.
• This is also the place to highlight any
technical or professional certifications you
may have.
