COL 111 is a first-year seminar that introduces students to Marian University's social and academic community. The course explores the university's heritage, structure, mission and connects students to faculty, staff, and resources. It meets twice a week. The course objectives are to introduce liberal arts thought, assist students in navigating college life, connect Franciscan values to the university culture, and expose students to diversity. Course content includes readings, assessments of strengths and heritage, and guest speakers. Assignments include essays on strengths and a final project connecting course themes to the university community.
