1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
form and conventions of real media
products?
2. Pugs
The ways in which my media product
challenges the conventions of a real
media product is the way in which I
included pugs on the left side of my
magazine, pugs are the ears of the
magazine and attract the readers
attention and let them know a little
about what content is in the
magazine.
By putting ‘YOU’ on my pug this
immediately calls out to my audience
member on a personal side and may
draw the reader to look inside.
3. Mast head
After researching different
music magazine mast heads
in the genre ‘Alternative’
and other I noticed the large
BOLD FONT saw this was a
way in which they attract
their target audience. So I
then attempted this effect
on my media product.
The bold white writing
stands out on my dark
background hopefully
drawing the readers eye
straight to it.
4. Titles
When looking at different
contents pages from
alternative music magazine
this helped me grasp more
of an idea on how to lay
everything out. Again similar
to the front cover we see a
large bold title at the top of
the page. I tried to place the
same effect on my media
product. The bold dark font
contrasts with the light
background hopefully make
it stand out more to my
audience.
5. Images
The images in the content
page are very important as
this shows a very clear
insight to the magazine
itself. When I researched
alternative contents pages
and looked for the images I
saw the page number in a
corner of the image and
thought this looked very
precise and showed the
reader very easily what
page number in the
magazine it is to find that
image and decided to
included this in my own
media product.
6. Introductions
Looking into alternative double
page spreads I noticed the
introduction to the interview
was on the majority, I tried to
include this in my own media
product. Just under the title is
where a lot of the introduction
were placed, as after the
audience has read the title right
underneath is an introduction
that gives them a brief
summary on what the interview
well be about.
7. Double page image
Most of the images on the
double page spread I
researched were on one side,
with the writing/interview on
the other. This perhaps try to
diminish the ‘cluttered’ look
and show the audience a
clear image of who the
celebrity is in the interview.
I tried to create the same look
in my double page spread by
placing the picture of the
celebrity on one side as the
interview on the other.
